me ranting to genshinblr about how the cinnabar spindle is significant to albedo, not only gameplay-wise, but also because cinnabar is a mineral form of mercury sulfide, which was historically used as a red pigment but is no longer in common use as a pigment due to mercury being toxic (alluding to durin’s poisoned blood/literally all of the red shit in dragonspine), and in the fairytale “sleeping beauty” the princess’s sleeping curse becomes effective when she pricks her finger on a spindle, suggesting that albedo may have become corrupted by touching the cinnabar spindle, and mercury was historically used to extract gold from rivers, because albedo is looking for gold, chalk pursues gold—
