can we please talk about the kitchen scene in lady midnight

there are literally so many points we have to cover on this scene

1) lets talk about how Tavvy was in a bag of powdered sugar and Mark was completely okay with Tavvy being in a bag of powdered sugar because it made Tavvy happy

2) lets talk about how we were all convinced that Dru, who is thirteen, was drinking when all that was in the cup was chocolate with sour cream and pepsi. Who tf like that?

3) lets talk about how Livvy locked herself in her room to help Ty go help Emma and Julian and how she would probably do anything for him

4) lets talk about how Ty went out to help Emma and Julian and held Kit at knifepoint trying to help them(thus creating Kitty) even though he hates violence, and was probably trembling and feeling scared because it didn’t feel right to hold a knife. How Ty would defy his father-figure Julian, whom he loves with all his heart, because he called Mark abnormal. Plus what a smartass he is

5) lets talk about how Mark would do anything to make his siblings happy, trying to make up for being gone for five years. How he burned down the kitchen trying to make his brother toast and wouldn’t stop until he got what he wanted. And how Mark bowed down to Julian and would do anything he wanted because he loved him

6) lets talk about how well Emma knows Julian. How she knows what makes Julian mad and as soon as she saw the kitchen she knew Julian would blow up and how she never doubted Julian’s love for any of them and knew exactly what he was thinking. Parabatai bond or not, this is amazing

7) finally, lets talk about Julian. Lets talk about how instead of yelling at Ty when he saw he sneaked out of the Institute and almost decapitated Kit, he just hugged Ty and made sure he was okay. Lets talk about how he cares so much about his younger siblings he would yell at his long lost brother for almost unintentionally hurting them. How he feels scared that his siblings will forget about him and hate him and how he sacrifices all his time to make sure they all stay in this safe little bubble and never have to worry about anything and how he would give up the children to Mark if it made them happy even though he would be miserable. Lets talk about how little twelve-year-old-Jules single-handedly taught himself how to be a father and cook and suffer burns because he didn’t want any of his siblings to miss out on anything. And then after all of that, he still has the patience of a saint and rarely looses it

8) lastly, lets talk about how all through Julian’s yelling no one showed hatred or disgust or talked back to him, but felt remorse and looked at him with love we all need to remember how this is what a family should be like and nothing less

it’s Love Kit O'Clock again and I really, really want to chip in on the ‘how could he leave ty/break up kitty’ rollercoaster. I know having them apart for three (terrible) years is a bitter outcome and ty spending that time under the impression that kit might very well detest him (kit’s outburst + magnus’ comment) is… nauseating, frankly, but. listen.

I think it’s easy to forget that kit is 15. he does not remember his mother; doesn’t even know what she looked like – requires a concussion to recall snatches of her voice. his father’s love was a threadbare, horrendously shallow thing – when those demons attacked their home, johnny rook very much prioritized his own life. rosemary tethered him to his son; I’d argue he looked after kit out of loyalty and love for his wife. johnny used him – turned him into a tool, a CHILD criminal (he was 10 in trsom! 10!!! a baby!!!).

still, he was kit’s family, the entirety of it. kit does not have any devoted older siblings, mentors, friends. and then – and then he was forced to watch him die. worse, even: he received front row seats to his father’s dismemberment. his father, who was his only family – his only source of care, attention, affection (cheap as it may have been).

- Cordelia (this one’s my favorite! obviously); after Cordelia Carstairs, Jem’s cousin and Tessa’s daughter-in-law; Cordelia Emma; inverse of Emma’s full name “Emma Cordelia”, and also would parallel the Herondales (Jonathan Christopher/Christopher Jonathan for Jace and Kit)

- Charlotte after Charlotte Branwell, a friend/mother figure of Jem and Tessa’s

- Sophia after Sophie Collins, another friend of Jem and Tessa’s

- Elizabeth/Adele after Tessa’s mother

- Cecily after Cecily Herondale, Tessa’s sister-in-law

Today I’m presenting at a conference

This is super exciting, and I’ve done it before. But so far I’ve done 10 minute slots. This one is an HOUR AND A HALF PANEL. Aka people will ask me questions and I’ll be expected to answer them. I’m presenting a paper, which will take up 20 minutes, and then two more people are presenting for 20 minutes each, and then for half an hour we just CHAT. There’ll be someone chairing the discussion but I’m worried no one will ask me questions or loads of people will and I won’t know the answers. I’m also really nervous about ticcing in front of people. This is the first talk my parents will see me give and I’m just nervous that I’ll start ticcing and not be able to control it. I’m just nervous, ya know? Idk why I’m telling you this, Tumblr, but I am. You’re like my friends, and you’re always here for me. I just wanted to vent I guess. Wish me luck!

So, I have some news!

I am so excited to finally tell you guys about something that @ti-bae-rius and I have been planning and working on for a little while now!

We are doing a collaboration, chaptered fic for you guys! 

It is called:‘The Heart of New York’

We have been working and planning so hard, and Lauryn and I are so, so, so excited to finally be sharing this with you. 

It is a fic with four main points of view (with some bonuses along the way), and is set about three years after the end of TDA! There is a lot of angst, a lot of lightwood-bane family feels, plenty of KitTy and Malec content, and a well thought out and designed plot if we do say so ourselves ;) 

We will be posting the first parts pretty soon, but until we do that, please give us all the hype and excitement we know you are capable of! 

-Also, I just want to say that through this project I have made a wonderful friend in Lauryn and she is a beautiful cinnamon roll and I am so honoured to be working with her-

Kit rubbed his bleary eyes, feeling the sleeplessness deep inside his bones as he answered the cry of his daughter. The two-month-old had a rough time sleeping through the night and Kit was often the one to go to her because her wails often distressed Ty. “Daddy’s coming princess, calm down.” Kit cooed as he pushed open his bedroom door, but he knew he was slurring with sleepiness. He hadn’t slept through the night since bring their daughter home, but it was finally taking a toll on him. He jumped when he felt a soft hand on his upper arm, but when he turned it was Ty. He was standing behind Kit with his headphones around his neck and a serious expression on his beautiful face, carved of marble with eyes of silver.
