finding out that almost all other animals don’t have periods like we do and instead simply reabsorb the egg back into their uterine lining to reuse the nutrients is like finding out the rest of the class has been taking WILDLY easier tests than you for the whole semester
like, hey, cat why don’t you have to use your Cat Dollars to invest in tampons? And cat is just like: fuck that noise, my body is OPTIMAL for not being made of inconvenient nonsense, sucks to be you
wack.

31.
What can I say about 30.
Unforgiving, maybe.
Meticulously planning a wedding only to be too nervous to actually live it. Having a wedding, only to spend a night in emergency waiting rooms just in three weeks' time. Leaving my husband of three weeks there, to learn our fate next month. Seeing the doctor's unwillingness to say it out loud, to meet our eyes then. Being thankful that his diagnosis isn't as much of a fate's verdict as it would be some 15 years ago, and yet not managing to stop asking why the hell him, why the hell us. Having a fight with my childhood friend, and then realizing that we can no longer keep our friendship, not just for her careless cruelty but more so for my long kept anger at her actions, past and present. Living with myself, trying to be better, oftentimes not knowing quite how. Being so bad at household chores without being able to break from it.
I need to remind myself that it wasn't all bad. My cat, my family. Holding my husband. Materialistic comfort. Being fucking good at my job. Nature's beauty. Game nights with friends. Trying to appreciate these more.

i don’t think i truly understood cultural appropriation till i saw s5 of the vampire diaries
the season’s evil there are “the travellers” who abduct people’s bodies, are witches (or a variant of witches, idk) and are group-chanting spells in “czech”. now, fistly, for all the comprehension there is they could literally be chanting in ancient greek with zero difference. all their speeches are literally unintelligible. once a main guy dramatically screamed “viď!” to turn a guy into the bodysnatcher traveller and i was honestly impressed by his acting, this was the only time i distinguished a czech word. dude must’ve actually practiced with the google translate reading function - i refuse to believe there was more effort into their “czech” than a random google translate.
also, and this annoys me the most. the leader of the evil bunch is called markos. Markos. the czech version of the name marc is marek. THIS IS NOWHERE NEAR. NOWHERE. it only plays into my ancient greek theory.

I was just in this work meeting, and there was this guy with an Asian background, and while he did have a surname foreign to our close-minded Central European sensibilities he had an off-the-mill local calendar first name. And he's not the only person I've met who chose to do this. And I know it is deeper, heavier than this, but…
For a while, instead of paying attention to the meeting I kept thinking about the cusom of picking appropriate names for specific cultures, and how would world look like if we all got to pick a new, local first name in every country we stayed a while in.
I quite like Evelyn.

I don't know how many of you know this but Gaza's population is around 2 million people and about 80% are refugees. 1.7 million refugees. These people are descendants of Nakba survivors who were forced out of their original villages in what is now ""Israeli territory"". So Israel is not only carpet bombing a strip of land they caged 2 million people in but is massacring a population that is 50% children and 80% refugees.

Please ignore this post. I just badly need to scream into the void. But
I haven't had a husband for a full month and now we're spending the night at the ER because he lost the majority of sight in his good eye overnight and this is not what either of us signed up for, no matter how many gallows humor can we come up with.
