05/07/2017 BTS Wings Tour in Manila at SM MOA Arena

Day 2!

Taehyung stans were well fed. He was ridiculous. As in ridiculously entertaining. The most memorable part was him making faces at the camera and everyone ate it up

If Day 1 was full of VKook, Day 2 was full of TaeJin. During 21CG, they kept hitting each other’s butts to the point that Tae ended up playfully kicking Jin in retaliation. And sending hearts to Jin during the bridge in Spring Day. And Tae placing that Army Bomb mask(???) on Jin because of course he would

JIN IS SO GREAT AT FANSERVICE. I was seated nearer this time and I saw him point at Jin stans and giving them his full attention (for like a second WHICH IS A LOT IN MY-BIAS-NOTICED-ME TIME OK) and sending hand kisses and taking banners and returning them to the right person and just being a lovable fluff ball in general like how do you not stan Kim Seokjinsus

Jin took this meme photo of Jungkook from a fan and danced with it during Outro, which prompted Jungkook’s tweet. Brats the whole lot of ‘em. (Also notice how polite he is when he borrows something christ how does one survive being that close to him)

There was a (very chill) V fanboy seated in front of me who was taking a video of Tae so seriously, as in he was concentrating on taking the best goddamn fancam he could get, and Tae noticed and pointed at him and smiled at him/our general direction. We were so happy for the fanboy because Tae noticed even though we were still quite far away from the stage!

General observations of their performances on both days (going under a cut because this is getting too long):

Each solo stage is so well done but my favorites are Hoseok’s, Jin’s and, surprisingly Yoongi’s:

Hoseok’s because Mama may just be one of my favourite BTS songs ever and his performance gives off such a light feeling. He’s always smiling and being cute and looking out into the audience with sparkly eyes and running around on stage and singing while his baby pictures are being shown in the background. It’s such a happy feeling song without sounding too sappy.

Jin’s because... because it’s Jin? And I love Jin? And his song is so heartbreaking but he makes such an effort and sings it so well and he’s improved so much over the years it makes me emo just thinking about it.

And Yoongi’s!!! I wasn’t expecting this at all because First Love isn’t my type of song. But I really loved his stage mainly because it’s so understated and simple yet intense and at the end, when Yoongi finishes and steps through the fire-like mist and back to the piano, they play the instrumental for So Far Away and it gets so fucking emotional.

CYPHER PT 4 IS SO HYPE NAMJOON JUMPING AROUND IS SO INFECTIOUS AND SOPE BLESSING THE MOSH PIT WITH HOLY WATER FUCK IT UPPPP (and I don’t even usually listen to rap???)

They sound amazing live. They’re such a high energy group that you can’t help but stand up and jump along with them. Aside from their solo stages, they didn’t have slow songs like Love Is Not Over or House of Cards in the line up so it was upbeat song after upbeat song and no time for your ass to sit down, especially in the latter half of the concert whew!

When they gather around Hoseok during his rap in Outro like a family T_T OT7 feels (excuse the screen shot from my poor excuse of a fancam lol)

The fact that they take time to prepare their speech in the language of the country they’re visiting just goes to show how sincere they are about how much they appreciate their fans and it’s seriously so heartwarming

BTS concerts are very well produced, from the lights to the fireworks to the line up and back up dancers and musicians. And of course the boys themselves performing like their lives depend on it but also having fun. And you can see it, that they love what they do and they love their fans and their fans love them back and it’s just... Good shit. It’s good shit and I’m glad I was able to witness it.

02/25/2017 EXO’rDium in Manila at the Araneta Coliseum

Guess who watched EXO again? Live? For the fourth time?!?! Yeah. Bullets!

They sang a LOT of their old songs. One of the earliest songs (or was it the first) in fact was a remix of Mama. And who doesn’t love a good ol’ throwback to the time of OT13? Being the ignorant fools that my friend and I were, we thought they were only going to perform songs from Ex’act and maybe a handful of the more popular older ones. But I think a lot of the set list was from Exodus. I mean they ended the concert with Angel, for crying out loud. Full on old school Exo on here, bringing out my hardcore 2012 Exo fangirl feels.

There was an acoustic medley of a bunch of their songs, and Chanyeol played the guitar for all of them. At one point, Kai and Sehun danced while the rest remained seated on the stairs. Again, a lot of throwbacks and good shit.

No soaking in water for Artificial Love (unfortunately?). We kept on joking that it’s because Yixing wasn’t there (HE SKIPPED OUT ON US AGAIN, THAT MUHFUH) and he really is the only one who wants to be sexy so without him, the members felt safe to dance sexily without getting soaked LOL. Still, those darn body waves were seared into my eyelids even a good few hours after the concert.

Yixing, my bias, my love, was MIA. Again. Like last year. Bitch.

For their introduction, Suho and Sehun were the only ones to speak straight English. Suho was expected, but Sehun!!!! He really learned over the years. What a sweetheart.

At one of the ments, when some members were changing outfits while the others talked to the fans, Suho and Baekhyun and Chen all mentioned Hawak Kamay, the Filipino song they learned for when they first came to the Philippines. Four fucking years ago. Which I also attended. They still knew the words to the chorus and it was just! So heartwarming!!

Minseok mentioned that last year in Exoluxion, Filipino Exo-Ls made the arena they were performing in shake with all the stomping. And then suddenly everyone in the general admission and upper boxes were stomping their feet and the floor was literally shaking omg it was a bit scary tbh. It felt and sounded like the coliseum was about to collapse (Minseok said he felt that way last year, too, and that it really made an impression). Dudes, Minseok got super happy when that happened lmao.

In the ending ment, when Kai was speaking, people stomped their feet again and Kai omg. Kai stopped talking immediately and you could see the fear in his eyes lmao. He probably thought there was an earthquake. Minseok explained and Kai relaxed and continued what he was saying, although there was still awe (and a little horror?) on his face.

In the same ment, fans also stomped their feet to the beat of We Will Rock You and guess who caught on immediately? Byun Baekhyun, of fucking course. He sang right away and god, as annoying as Baekhyun is sometimes, he’s a really smart entertainer. The others looked real confused by what was happening for a long second but Baekhyun was on it and his vocals were on point.

Sehun said that it was really hot here but he liked it because it’s colder in Korea right now. Suho, I think, also said that it was really hot. Lmao sorry for the tropical weather, bbs. It’s not like this was your first time to visit.

They kept saying that Filipino Exo-Ls were really passionate and Suho kept saying that he was surprised everyone sang along so easily to their songs, with the difference in languages and all. He also said “You make us crazy” like three times? And once more in Korean. He’s such a sweet leader. He really tries and does his best amidst everything Exo has gone through. I got all soft for Suho for a minute there.

Also, did you know that XiuChen are married? I was unaware but their VCR made sure to educate me. Thanks.

I realize I haven’t mentioned Kyungsoo at all? He was adorable, as usual, and quiet, as usual. But there was this dance where they had a cane and he and Sehun switched places. But his cane broke? Or I dunno he accidentally let go of it? Anyway, he looked out into the audience in front of him and gestured for them to keep it a secret. LOL I wouldn’t have caught it if he wasn’t on our side of the stage.

I’m sure a lot more little fun things happened but these are the ones that stuck with me. The whole thing lasted for 2 hours? Two and a half? It was loaded, honestly, and I hope Exo had fun. I want them keep on coming back.

Remember when I completely forgot to post about my trip to Seoul? Yeah, I’m not going to do the same with Busan.

Busan was lovely. The pace was slower than the hustle and bustle of Seoul City. It felt a little like Siem Reap in that it also reminded me of my home city -- not as big or fast-paced as the capital, but a city nevertheless -- except Busan (and probably the whole of South Korea) has a better public transportation system. Also, it was cold (it was the first week of December). My tropical Asian genetics was ready to give up every time a gust of wind hit my face.

There wasn’t much to see in terms of tourist spots, but I loved the feeling of normalcy despite being a tourist.

8/18/2016 In the Mix at SM MOA Arena

Another concert!!! This time of Western musicians. Got in late and only got to witness Third Eye Blind, Panic! at the Disco, James Bay, and the 1975, and missed Elle King and Twin Pines (who, I heard, were pretty damn good). Twas fun, nevertheless!

Still confused why they chose to close with the 1975 instead of PatD, though. I’m personally not a big fan of PatD but their energy was so next level, I wouldn’t have minded if they were the headliner instead.

160807 Dean in Manila at SM Skydome

Just a week after Epilogue in Manila, Dean stopped by the country for his EP’s promo tour. These are the best photos I have because I only took a few and spent the rest of the time singing along and dancing to his songs.

Dean is very charismatic on stage and he knows what the girls want: body rolling in 21 like the beast that he is; sticking his tongue out like a mufuher; and generally being sexy af.

Obviously he sings well. To borrow from Game of Thrones, it is known. And maybe it’s because I’ve watched so many videos of his live performances but I kind of expected when he’d do his crazy ad libs. And I still loved every bit of it.

In person, though, he’s simply... cute? That was honestly the only thing in my mind after seeing him up close (I won meet and greet passes and met him backstage for like... 10 seconds LOL). Yes, he’s tall and handsome but omg he’s so cute??? Maybe it’s because I’m older than him. Heh.

The whole event was poorly handled, however. Messy lines, lack of information, and MISSING MCA MUSIC EMPLOYEES AROUND THE AREA. Everybody was confused about the lines and tickets and when the doors would be opened but nobody was there to answer anybody’s questions!!! They had SM guards do the dirty work and the kids were throwing their anger towards the guards who were only doing what they were told! While we were waiting for the doors to open, I asked one guard where MCA employees were and he said they were inside. I was like WHAT WHY ARE THEY IN THERE AND NOT OUT HERE TAKING CARE OF FANS and the guard was like, yeah they should be the ones to face you but no, we’re here trying to answer your questions instead.

Wtf MCA Music, did you guys not think this whole thing through? Releasing show details late, then changing them the last minute, and having ZERO employees on the ground on D-Day. I know this was only a promo tour and not a concert, and maybe Dean’s people are also at fault, but my God, I have never attended an event as messy as this. This was very disappointing. If not for Dean and his music, this would have been a wasted Saturday. Thank goodness for Dean.

i was in the first 20 or so people in line

it was a room with a divider in the middle so while waiting we couldnt see the hitouch area but we heard them enter in hobi said HELLO in his cutest voice and my ear popped people screamed so loud

first thing i noticed is that their make up was like an inch thick and they kinda looked like wax figures because of it lmao

taehyung was the first person i saw and what everyone says is true he is more beautiful in person. he is like a blessing to us mere mortals what the hell.

yoongi is taller than i expected and hes also paler than i thought maybe its the make up

jin looked real nice and his hand was cute

jungkooks hair looked so good and ruffled, and his eyes were so big.

jimin is shorter than i expected but he was next to namjoon

CONCERT

i think this is the first epilogue concert they tried to speak in english 100% of the time? im not sure, but there was  LOT more attempts at speaking filipino than i expected. like the show was pretty much 80% english, 14% filipino, and 1% korean lmao.

namjoon took off his jacket like an hour into the show and spent the rest of the concert in tshirts (even tho their regular costume had jackets). he seemed to come alive once the extra layer was off!! poor boy was hot. one of those outfits was a plain black tight tshirt and black skinny jeans we are truly blessed.

also fun fact namjoon is one of those no shame boys that when he needs to tuck in his shirt he will just SHOVE his hand down his pants smh boy

they were tryna get tae to say bultaoreune but instead he said “mahal ko kayo” and then danced sorry but hes the cutest

minjoon really love casually touching each other like waist shoulder arm u name it.

jung hoseok is the KING of facial expressions and hes just constantly winking and smiling and making your heart melt as he dances and hes so fluid literally i dont know how you can walk out of a concert without stanning hoseok

yoongi forgot his lyrics to fun boyz he was mumbling them lmao he also poured water on himself he was crazy today

jimin was also real lazy today he kept just making the fans sing his parts lmao

taehyung’s fun boyz dance break was gangnam style i makes me all warm inside knowing hes just as psy trash as i am

jin threw his water into the crowd and he was right in front of me i was #Blessed

jimin was so FLIRTY and CUTESY today like he took every opportunity to try and be cute wtf boy

right before jimin lifted his shirt up for NMD him and hobi like high fived it was so cute lol

they made us do a wave but instead of just during a regular crowd wave we did it but it was also like a wave hello i cant believe us

namjoon complimented us saying he heard us singing along to the music videos before the show and said we know how to turn up i nearly cried i love him so much

and even though everyone was lively and lit as hell and the concert was AMAZING it was clear that they were all at least really tired from the schedules and i hope they get a good break after kconLA

bonus: my friend and i ran into some korean tourists at the mall next to the venue and they were like “korean act played?” and i was like “yes!!! bangtan!!” and the dude was like “ah yeah bangtan sonyeondan!!!” it was cute.

160730 Epilogue in Manila at SM MOA Arena

Gaaaah!!! Finally got to watch BTS live! Just some points that stuck with me:

- Jin has a really stable voice? I never noticed this in their live performance videos before. I know he’s not the strongest singer so I wasn’t expecting to be blown away but I was pleasantly surprised to find that he sings great live.

- V learned the most Tagalog. “Kilala niyo ako?” LOL Too cute for mah life.

- J-hope’s English though! 💯 Also his dancing wtf 💯💯💯

- Band version of all the songs!!!! Imma crei. Never thought I’d be able to experience it live but there it was.

- *edit* ALSO NAMJOON'S WHAT AM I TO YOU. Gah he was so intense. This was one of the songs I was really looking forward to live and Nams delivered. Yas boi. (Can't believe I forgot to put that here.)

To be honest so many little events happened (as it always does in every kpop concert) but these were the ones that stayed with me. (Not even Jimin’s ab flash because lbr everyone expected that. 😏)

This was such a great show. The energy coming from the members was amazing. PH ARMYs sang all the way through with the boys and there was this super sweet moment before they performed I Need U. The boys let the audience sing the first verse until the chorus and everyone knew the words and it was so heartwarming. I hope they enjoyed themselves because it seemed everyone else in the Arena sure did.
