The Hybrid Queen’s Witchcraft Resource List for Absolute Beginners
I recently received a few messages from people who are “magically curious” and wish to learn more about witchcraft but have no idea where to start. When I first took up the mantle of the Witch and started my path not too long ago, I found it difficult to identify good, credible sources that also fit my learning criteria and helped me meet my magical needs. I had to read many watered down, bland and superficial beginner’s guides and introductory books, filled with inaccuracies, outdated information, vague descriptions and cultural appropriation. I’m making this list in the hope it will help potential beginners bypass the confusion of not knowing where to start. It contains the resources that I wish someone had recommended to me when I was in that position. It is by no means exhaustive and you also don’t have to read every single one of these books. May it give you a solid foundation and guide you on your magical journey.
Introductory guides to Witchcraft
“Weave the Liminal: Living Modern Traditional Witchcraft”, By Laura Tempest Zakroff. Suitable for beginner witches not knowing were to start as well as intermediate practitioners looking to further deepen and personalize their practice, this book offers extensive instroctions on how to go about forming your own personal path as a Witch. It doesn’t offer any instructions on spells, rituals and correspondences but instead focuses on teaching the reader how to build a practice that works for them, how to get into the right mindset to pursue a personal magical path.
“Psychic Witch: a Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick and Manifestation”, by Mat Auryn. A detailed guide filled with useful info and many practical exercises to develop psychic skills and work spells. Although it came out very recently, I’ve heard glowing reviews from many seasoned witches and advanced practitioners.
“Wicca: a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner” by Scott Cunningham. Perhaps one of the most widely known books on Wicca and Witchcraft, this book offers an A-Z guide for beginners to practice witchcraft from a Wiccan perspective. Most modern beginner’s guides I’ve seen are heavily based on this one, so I recommend going straight to the original source.
“The Crooked Path: An Introduction to Traditional Witchcraft”, by Kelden. A practical step-by-step guide for those interested in traditional Witchcraft. I have not personally read this one but it comes highly recommended by several advanced practitioners.
“Advanced Magick for Beginners”, by Alan Chapman. A simple no-nonsense practical guide to magic(k) from a chaos magick approach. Lightweight, easy to read and only slightly condescending, it’s a good starting point for strictly results-oriented secular practitioners. However, this type of magic isn’t classiffied as witchcraft in the strict sense and the practices here lack the more complex spiritual background and the “witchy feel” most of the other sources here provide. If you choose this book, I recommend reading it after Weave the Liminal.
Inspirational Witchy Fiction
“Circe”, by Madeline Miller.
“Equal Rites”, by Terry Pratchett. I recommend pretty much all his books in the discworld witches series but if I had to pick one, it would be this.
“American Gods”, by Neil Gaiman.
“Norse Mythology”, By Neil Gaiman.
Informational and Academic books on the topic of Witchcraft.
“The Triumph of the Moon: A History of Modern Pagan Witchcraft”, by Ronald Hutton.
“Witchbody”, by Sabrina Scott
“Waking the Witch: Reflections on Women, Magic, and Power”, by Pam Grossman (also check her podcast, called “WitchWave).
“Aradia, Gospel of the Witches”, by Charles Godfrey Leland (I wasn’t sure whether to include this here or in fiction, as its contents have been highly discputed, but the poetry and a lot of the philosophy around it have had a huge influence on the modern witchcraft movement so I consider it an important read nonetheless).

Thank you so much for creating that post about predicting timing with tarot. I have been trying to find sources about tarot and predictions for so long, thank you!! 😁
You’re welcome!
When I was memorizing the whole list from my grandma’s grimoire, it helped me to know this:
Wands are days, because they are fire, and fire moves fast.
Swords are weeks, because while a sword is quick to cut, it requires thinking first on the warrior’s part.
Cups are months, because they are water, and water flows with the moon, which completes a cycle in roughly a month.
Pentacles are seasons to years, because they are seeds, and some seeds only require a season to grow while some a year.
The timings for the Major Arcana and the Pages are completely related to the cards’ meanings. Once you know the meanings, you know the timings.
The Kings, Queens and Knights are the zodiac signs’ birthdays:
King of Wands – Leo (Fixed Fire)
Queen of Wands – Aries (Cardinal Fire)
Knight of Wands – Sagittarius (Mutable Fire)
King of Cups – Scorpio (Fixed Water)
Queen of Cups – Cancer (Cardinal Water)
Knight of Cups – Pisces (Mutable Water)
King of Swords – Aquarius (Fixed Air)
Queen of Swords – Libra (Cardinal Air)
Knight of Swords – Gemini (Mutable Air)
King of Pentacles – Taurus (Fixed Earth)
Queen of Pentacles – Capricorn (Cardinal Earth)
Knight of Pentacles – Virgo (Mutable Earth)
All the best in your tarot journey! 🌹

How to Predict Timing with Tarot
When performing a Celtic Cross, there are three cards that can reveal when the event will happen: the advice, the outcome, and the card at the bottom of the deck. While your intuition will tell you which is most likely, it is best to acknowledge all three possibilities.
THE MAJOR ARCANA
The Fool – Whenever you are ready
The Magician – It has already begun
The High Priestess – You know exactly when
The Empress – During harvest season
The Emperor – It is almost done
The Hierophant – It is finished
The Lovers – As soon as you make the choice
The Chariot – In just a few moments
Strength – The minute you accept it
The Hermit – Only after you meditate on it
The Wheel of Fortune – During your first or next Saturn return
Justice – When you least expect it
The Hanged Man – When the circumstances change
Death – Whenever it is ready
Temperance – After the storm
The Devil – It is happening right now
The Tower – Soon, unexpectedly and suddenly
The Star – The more you believe, the sooner it will happen
The Moon – It cannot be determined at the moment
The Sun – In the summer or by sunrise
Judgement – Soon and inevitably
The World – In divine timing
THE MINOR ARCANA
THE SUIT OF WANDS
Ace of Wands – One day
Two of Wands – Two days
Three of Wands – Three days
Four of Wands – Four days
Five of Wands – Five days
Six of Wands – Six days
Seven of Wands – Seven days
Eight of Wands – Eight days
Nine of Wands – Nine days
Ten of Wands – Ten days
Page of Wands – As we speak
Knight of Wands – End of November to most of December
Queen of Wands – End of March to most of April
King of Wands – End of July to most of August

Earth. Touch of Water.
Note about balance- thought: balance is not necessarily equal parts
Finding Your Element
Though we’re never just one element at any time, its common for us to be closer to one more than the others. The element you associate with may share traits, both positive and negative, with you. Knowing your element can help you understand yourself and help you overcome problems that you encounter because of it.
Note that the element that you associate with now may change with time and personal growth.
So, how does one find their element? Well, first you gotta know the elements. Each one has its own set of traits.
Now, I won’t be listing all of the correspondence for each element, just the ones I think may be relevant to the topic.
Air
Colors: Yellow, sky blue
Direction: East
Season: Spring
Compliment: Fire
Opposite: Earth
Positive Traits: Joyful, humorous, intelligent, intuitive, communicative.
Negative Traits: Loves gossip, chatterbox, loud, messy, selfish, manipulative, boastful, know-it-all.
Possible Fears: Suffocation, being buried alive, being wrong/being stupid, stagnation.
Earth
Colors: Brown, green
Direction: North
Season: Winter
Compliment: Water
Opposite: Air
Positive Traits: Reliable, level-headed, punctual, good with money, preserving, wise.
Negative Traits: Materialistic, narrow minded, stubborn, greedy.
Possible Fears: Heights, falling, financial crisis, change.
Fire
Colors: Red, orange
Direction: South
Season: Summer
Complement: Air
Opposite: Water
Positive Traits: Energetic, out-going, courageous, loyal, passionate.
Negative Traits: Power hungry, dominating, egotistical, stubborn, resentful, violent, reckless.
Possible Fears: Lack of control or lack of power, fear of large bodies of water or drowning.
Water
Colors: Blue, silver
Direction: West
Season: Fall
Complement: Earth
Opposite: Fire
Positive Traits: Compassionate, loving, forgiving, empathetic, easy going, modesty.
Negative Traits: Weepy, overly sensitive, frigid, lazy, insecure, dependent, indifferent.
Possible Fears: Burning alive, losing loved ones, being alone.
When looking at one’s own traits and flaws it’s important to be honest with yourself and open to your intuition. If you find you can’t decide between two or more elements ask around, see what others think you are. It might help you narrow it down.
Thank you for reading! Feel free to ask any questions or to leave any suggestions.

Thinking this is the perfect treat for today!
Salted Honey Pie 🍯
An old fashion pie recipe that’s super simple to make and a great Ostara/Spring Dessert! I’m making one for this Easter with my family.
Honey, Eggs, Cream are all Spring Foods. Honey symbolizes sweetness and the rewards of hardwork just like the little bees that work so hard to make it! 🐝
And Salt banishes negativity and is purifying!
This dessert is perfect for getting rid of the stress or worry of Winter and welcoming any sweet rewards from your hardwork in the future this Spring!
Ingredients:
One 9 inch Pie Crust (Store bought or one of your favorite crust recipes)
½ Cup of Melted Butter
¾ Cup of White Sugar
2 Tbs of Cornmeal
¼ tsp of Salt
¾ Cup of Honey
2 Eggs + 1 Egg Yolk
½ Cup of Cream
2 tsp White Vinegar
1 tsp of Vanilla Extract
Salt Flakes for Garnish
Preheat your oven to 350. In a large bowl, mix together your dry ingredients before slowly mixing in your wet ingredients one at a time…. (I never do this and just mix it all together randomly as I go, but it’s up to you.)
Feel free to add a sigil to the base of the pie crust. This is mine -
Pour mixture into your pie crust, it will be liquid and thin; that’s okay!
Cook for 45 to 60 minutes or until the top is golden brown and it starts to bubble.(I recommend 60 minutes on the middle rack. Mine didn’t burn at all!)
Take it out of the oven and let it cool for One hour or more to let it solidify. This step is very important to make sure it isn’t too liquidy. The consitancy should be like Pecan Pie Filling.
Garnish with Sea Salt or Himalayan Salt; any big salt flakes. But regular table salt will do just fine if the others aren’t available.
Done! 🍯🐝🍽😋
This can be used for Litha too!
