Redux - Hollyleaf: Prologue
Hi, everyone!
After mulling over how much I felt like Hollyleaf deserved better and that her character really could have been fleshed out even more if she had survived the battle with the Dark Forest, I have decided to jump on the redux train and write my own take on how that would go.
To start off, I’ve written a prologue, which makes changes to the Great Battle in order for her to survive. I am also planning on taking liberties with the huge gap in time between The Last Hope and the Apprentice’s Quest to further develop Hollyleaf’s character. I am currently getting ready to move out of my parent’s house, but I will actively keep this updated as much as I can!
I welcome and want any comments or constructive criticism, so please let me know what you think! Prologue starts under the cut:

I’m gonna have to jump on the bandwagon I’ve seen. A company has shown interest in making a Warriors movie, which brings me back to 15 year old me spending countless hours making around 100 videos about these fictional characters.
21 year old me just applied to a graduate film program in New York, so thanks, cat hell

Things fans in general need to remember
- a story doesn’t have to be unpredictable to be interesting
- characters don’t have to be relatable to be likable (seriously; it’s okay to like characters with whom you have nothing in common)
- it’s okay to not have any criticisms of your favorite books/movies/TV shows (remember, you’re reading/watching for enjoyment, not to study for your English final; you don’t need to analyze the crap out of it or contemplate the social implications)
- you don’t have to justify your love or hate for any character, book, movie or TV show; if it just doesn’t work for you, that’s okay; subjectivity is allowed (for instance, Daenerys Targaryen is an objectively great character; she has dragons, for crying out loud; I just don’t personally like her)
- FICTION AND REALITY ARE DIFFERENT; this is a big one; loving James Potter or Severus Snape doesn’t make someone a bully or a victim blamer any more than loving Loki makes someone a genocidal megalomaniac with daddy issues; people can ship the Doctor and Rose Tyler in their FICTIONAL universe without being a real life pedophile
- just because a writer doesn’t write the story the way you would doesn’t mean it’s bad writing; it means they had a different vision for the story than you did
- foreshadowing only becomes apparent in hindsight; while its fun to guess how the rest of the season/series is going to play out based on what you already know, you can’t definitively spot foreshadowing until the foreshadowed event comes to pass, and I’ve noticed a disturbing trend of fans crying “bad writing” rather than admitting they might have been wrong
- it’s ok if your OTP isn’t canon; the fun of shipping is the “what if?”
- fandoms are not political platforms and treating them like your own personal soapbox makes the experience less enjoyable for others; if you and a group of friends want to discuss the political and social implications of Glee, have fun; but don’t expect the rest of the fandom to want to join; some people just don’t like their favorite books/movies/shows/characters being treated like a tug-of-war rope, especially if they use them as a temporary escape from reality
- writers are under no obligation to give their fanbase what they want; they have as much freedom to write what they love as you or I and if you don’t like the direction the story’s going, you don’t have keep reading/watching
I’m sure there are more, but I can’t think of any. Feel free to add.

I have absolutely no one in my life who understands what it’s like to live with diabetes. I don’t have any diabetic friends. I feel so alone.
It’s unfortunate that so few people understand or care to educate themselves on even the basics of this disease. It’s certainly a lonely one to live with; it’s not easy finding other diabetics to connect with in real life, which is why it’s so important to have access to blogs and social websites like Tumblr so that those of us who need connection can find others to reach out to. I know that for me, having access to tumblr’s diabetic community has made a huge difference! Please know that you are not alone, and that there are so many of us here who are ready to welcome you into our lives. Here’s a link to my personal blog. Hit me up sometime!
