Karlnap Fic Recs (39 ao3 fics)

there’s a severe lack of karlnap fic recs on tumblr but don’t worry I’m here to change that

1. (Not) Just Another Cliche by notreallylizzie (38k, 6/?) Keywords: college au, enemies to friends to lovers (kind of), football player Sapnap, angst, karl centric My thoughts: this is my favorite Karlnap fic of all time. The characterization and plot are great. This is such an underrated fic and if you read any fic on this list, it should be this one

2. walking through your neighborhood by ivorysteel (7k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, strangers to friends to lovers My thoughts: really sweet fic that I’ve read a couple times

3. He’s my boyfriend by Not4typicalwriter (7k, 1/1) Keywords: 5+1, fake relationship My thoughts: I can’t remember much abt this fic bc I’ve read so many fics but I know this was a good one even though I’m not usually a big fan of 5+1

4. Under the Blankets JanetBaby99 (6k, 1/1) Keywords: ace Karl, hurt-comfort, angst, established relationship, kind of nsfw but not really My thoughts: I love this fic. Really good angst with a happy ending. The plot revolves around Karl telling Sapnap that he’s ace

5. Meant To Be Yours by ncthcritc (9k, 5/5) Keywords: high school au, student council vp Karl, football player Sapnap My thoughts: I’m not the biggest fan of hs aus but this was a solid fic. This is part of a series but you don’t need to read the other parts to read this part

6. Only Ever You by ncthcritc (12k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, roommates, sapnap is “heterosexual”, angst, friends to lovers My thoughts: in my opinion, between fic#5 and Only Ever You (they’re by the same writer), Only Ever You is the better fic. There’s some good angst in this fic and the plot is really good too

7. ‘Tis The Damn Season by Anonymous (14k, 12/12) Keywords: childhood friends, angst, coming home for the holidays, meeting after not seeing each other for a long time My thoughts: Holiday fics are literally one of my least favorite types of fics, so I was a little unsure about reading this one, but it was actually really good. The focus on holiday stuff is minimal and the plot is good. Lots of good imagery. Also, Karl and Sapnap’s parents are really cute/funny in this.

8. Wait For Me by cleopatras (11k, 7/7) Keywords: college au, strangers to friends to lovers My thoughts: okay yeah so I read this one a while ago and don’t remember all the details but I do know that this fic was good and I’ll probably read it again heehee

9. Should’ve known better by Not4TypicalWriter (7k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, strangers to friends to lovers, Karl has a girlfriend My thoughts: another I don’t remember much of but I know I enjoyed and will probably read again

10. Across the room & miles apart by fictionalparadises (8k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, sleeping in the same bed, Sapnap has nightmares My thoughts: I’m not the biggest fan of the characterization, but this is still a solid fic

11. 4 Rules for a Perfect Boyfriend by lyssforlies (6k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, enemies to lovers My thoughts: Not my most favorite, but still solid. Karl writes a checklist describing the perfect boyfriend and then realizes that Sapnap fits the list perfectly

12. Ab hoc, ab hac by Bohort (15k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, Sapnap is an idiot (this is actually a tag heh) My thoughts: This is definitely one I’m going to read again. Basically Sapnap is annoyed by dnf being all couple-y, so he asks Karl to come over

More fics: yeah I’m kind of tired of writing “my thoughts” (I’m vacuous!) so here are more fics but without that section. These are still solid fics, I’m just lazy.

13. Something about funerals and red dresses by alachii (5k, 1/?) Keywords: flower shop au (Karl works in a flower shop), slow burn (okay yeah this is super slow burn and the fic is incomplete but I’m including this fic on this list bc I’m hoping the author will update one day. I would be ecstatic if they did)

14. Hazelnut Lattes by simpnaps (8k, 1/1) Keywords: coffee shop au (karl is a barista and sapnap is a customer), college au, strangers to friends to lovers

15. Hotel kisses by sydthesciencekidd (7k, 1/1) Keywords: established relationship, secret relationship, road trip

16. Karlnap 24 Hour MrBeast Stream by AstralyProjected (1.5k, 1/1) Keywords: established relationship, karl on the 24 hr mrbeast livestream (oh my god what why is this so cute)

17. The Omnipresence of You by simpnaps (19k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, strangers to friends to lovers (yeah this is a good one I remember)

18. Ttyll by dustoneday (1.2k, 1/1) Keywords: the summary for this fic is pretty spot on: “sapnap likes stealing karl's phone and changing his background. his efforts are thwarted by a simple text message.”

19. Coffee Stained Notes by sunclefz (4k, 1/1) Keywords: coffee shop au, college au, strangers to friends to lovers

20. Play My Favourite Song by sunclefz (5k, 1/1) Keywords: neighbors, karl plays the guitar and sapnap secretly listens from his apt (there’s a reason everyone recs this fic)

21. Would you be my (not so) fake boyfriend? By moonysx (5k, 1/1) Keywords: fake relationship, college au

22. One Kiss by notreallylizzie (6k, 1/1) Keywords: never have I ever, college au, first kiss

23. That’s Not What I Meant To Say At All by minecraftzombie (1.6k, 1/1) Keywords: first kiss, streamers

24. Minecuffed Manhunt by primdise (15k, 1/1) Keywords: enemies to lovers, college au, quackity handcuffs karl and sapnap together (you should read this one! It’s super good!)

25. Ninety-Nine Percent Water (Kool-Aid) by OOPlank (7k, 1/1) Keywords: high school au, fake relationship as a prank on friends (another good one that I read a long time ago)

26. Sugar, We’re Goin Down by endersaturn (4k, 1/1) Keywords: college au, friends to lovers (the summary for this one is pretty spot on: “Sapnap offhandedly mentions that the reason all of Karl's dates aren't working out is because he's bad at kissing, and Karl is desperate to prove him wrong, even if that means asking him for help.”)

27. Something about you. by M_Blackstone (3k, 1/1) Keywords: college au (good summary: “After Quackity gets himself and Karl kicked out of their dorm Karl moves in with an old high school crush.”)

28. When He Sees Me by ezralize (13k, 4/4) Keywords: starbucks in barnes & noble au (coffeeshop and bookstore), Sapnap is a barista and Karl works in the bookstore if I remember correctly
