I value Rimmer as neurodivergent representation for his lack of special superhuman talents/abilities.

I'm dyslexic...no special talents/abilites....no I'll never be a millionaire...or inventor....

It's refreshing to have a neurodivergent character who isn't a Sherlock Holmes style genius or "weird". Knowing that Rimmer bounces his leg, has a flair for creating maps (from the books), strong OCD traits, enjoys Risk, is of average intelligence, sometimes gets the joke and sometimes doesn't, can have a temper or be calm, sometimes needs to be around others and sometimes needs to be alone....that's enough....

Considering the context of the show itself, the lyrics for the Red Dwarf theme song are quite dark, when you think about it... 🤔

I had this idea in my head for ages and I finally decided to actually execute said idea :D (It took me almost six hours but it was worth it!)

I have a little morsel for you, rimster shippers of red dwarf tumblr:

So, in better than life, Rimmer expresses that his brain cannot accept that nice things happen to him, so at the end of the episode when he gets the letter that he’s actually passed his exams but it turns out they’re still in the game, that can’t have been Rimmer’s brain, right?

I propose to you that Lister is the one that fantasised it into fruition.

Think about it, Lister feels remorse towards Rimmer that his father passed away and the fact that he can’t accept that nice things happen to him: he wants Rimmer to be at least somewhat happy. Like, look how happy Lister looks for Rimmer when he comes into the restaurant in the game. Another thing that supports this is the fact that Lister is the one that opened the letter and read it aloud; had it have been anyone else, the letter could’ve easily said that Rimmer failed another exam, or worse depending on if you’re the cat or not.

I rest my case, Enjoy :D

Almost finished listening to Better Than Life. It's touching how determined Rimmer is to keep his promise to Lister and rescue him from the marooned planet.

I also enjoyed the details on Rimmer glitching more often than is shown in the TV series, and Lister being aware of how sensitive Rimmer is about it.
