And another Russian junior doing the same skill https://www.instagram.com/reel/CYavXjMqGxL/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
I've never heard of him before but he must be a promising junior if he's at Round Lake and doing this big skill
Full Twisting Double Back Tuck
The Russian juniors are switching from the double front half out to the full twisting double back tuck off parallel bars.
On Instagram Karelian is posting Yakubov and Marus - the latter being better. They are both good but I think Marus has better form.
In the new code this element retained its F value and the double front half out is only an E now. Which is why a lot of guys are doing just double fronts or Belyavskiy practicing the double front pike with a half - that element was worth a G but it might be an F now. I'm not sure about that last part.
Check the videos at the link.

Her official free skate run thru was just as good.

Alexandra Trusova is in Boston and she had a pretty good practice skate. She did two quad lutz triple toe combinations, a triple axel and a quad lutz euler triple salchow combination - cleanly! She really wants to start the Olympic season well.

Veronika Zhilina's free skate is up there with content program of many of the top men in figure skating. This is insane content and something that is a sign to come from other Russian ladies.
The highlight for me was the 4toe+3toe in the second half of the program.

The last time NBC, the main channel, actually had good gymnastics coverage was back in 2008. Nowadays they only show the people that won medals and the US athletes.

Rhys McClenaghan and Sergei Naidin rocking those long shorts. I guess that was the style of choice for the pommel horse workers.
It was just a European style. I remember seeing tons of European tourist in them about 10 years ago.

Vladislava Urazova on floor during podium training. She has really got that full in double pike situated. Her turns are lovely too.
She reminds of me Mostepanova from the 80s.

Podium training clips of Russia. It's mostly Angelina Melnikova on bars and floor and Listunova on vault.
They said that floor was bouncy and it is.

Alexey Erokhov has a quad loop! It looks very good too which is a bit of a twist considering his junior rival tried and tried and failed at ever getting the quad loop.
With this new addition there are three or four Russian men doing quad loops in training.

Nastia Ilyankova is working on a 6.7 bars routine!
In the clip above she is working an Ezhova-Komova II-Pak-Van Leeuwen (DEDE) combination. The Ezhova would be connected to her Tweddle (F) plus she would do a Shang (F) plus a toe on full to a full twisting double tuck dismount.
If she could get this routine she would definitely be putting herself in contention for an individual spot and maybe a medal.
CORRECTION: It has been pointed out that the Komova II is actually a chow. The video quality doesn't allow that to be seen clearly but it is probably more than likely that. On a side note she was working on in bars, there was a european gymnast doing a release to a Komova II so that lead me to believe that was a Komova II. It's possible but probably not from Ilyankova.

Angelina and Viktoria look ready on floor for Europeans. Angelina only had a slight hiccup on the first pass with the mat but I think she should have it under control by qualifications.

I remember seeing Urazova training a front 2.5. Listunova is definitely planning something with a layout position because there was a clip of trying the Moors. She will most likely bring back that 2.5 combo as that front full seems so basic.
I think Melnikova will ditch her last bars combo and go for the toe on fill and then do the Fabrichnova dismount not in connection.
What upgrades are Listunova, Melnikova, Urazova, Gerasimova and Mineava working on?
Listunova: She’s planning a DLO on floor, and will probably bring back 2.5+layout or do 2.5+front full. I also wouldn’t be surprised if she does a Fabrichnova sometime this year.
Melnikova: Not sure tbh. Maybe the full-in beam dismount and an upgraded 3rd pass on floor?
Urazova: She’ll probably bring back the whips+triple. I know she was training a Mustafina dismount, but not sure it’s worth doing. Maybe a triple off beam, idk.
Gerasimova: She said she’s upgrading vault, but didn’t say 1.5 or DTY. Bars I imagine she’ll want the van Leeuwen back. Beam, she competed a 3/1 dismount (+0.4 upgrade) in early 2019, so we may see that again. Floor looks maxed out.
Minaeva: She’s working a Nabieva 1/2+Ezhova, which would be super exciting to see in competition! I also hope she replaces the front lay+double front on FX with a DLO.

Dmitri Aliev has got a quad toe triple loop combo! This is big news for him given that he struggles with getting combos done. If he can do that he can risk a lot more like trying to have two quad toes in his program plus the quad lutz without risking having his second quad toe accidentally turning into a triple.
Ideally, I think, he would go for something like this next year.
Quad Lutz
Quad Toe Triple Loop
Quad Toe
Triple Axel
Triple Lutz Triple Toe
Triple Flip Euler Triple Salchow
Triple Lutz

The women's code of points is unfair and it's not the world trying to be against Biles. The Produnova vault is only a 6.4, which is low as it is, but will likely be the point where they base it off. With that said it's likely going to get a 6.8 rating.
no matter what value they give the yurchenko double pike its not going to be Enough for usa stans bc they have an insane persecution complex and such an unprecedented level of difficulty being assigned a numeric value in the realm of mortals is guaranteed to upset them lol

The Russian women's team is ready for Russian Nationals. Ilyankova has her Piked Hindorff and someone, I think Listunova, has a Komova II to Ricna, stalder tkatchev, combination.
