Linh Hà taps into the emotion of wonder, uplift, sorrow and reflection, through improvised looped vocal arrangements, various percussive instruments and a 'loopstation' to create layered soundscapes. Incorporating elements from traditional Vietnamese vocal techniques, personal lyrical content and myriad influences - from new wave, post-rock to avant-garde to techno - her music ranges from dense, lush harmonies to sampled sizzling noise to gently ebbing hopeful lullabies. Her work has primarily occurred in the live realm and she has collaborated with numerous artists, both Vietnamese and foreign, who have lived, worked, or travelled through her hometown of Hanoi. More recently her work has found new support from different organisations such as FAMLAB (funded by British Council), Phu Sa Lab, VCCA và Blind Signal (Berlin) funded by Goethe-Institut and Institut Francais. These opportunities allow her to expand not only the reach of her music, but also to take in new music and other art from different cultures, bringing new inspiration and fresh energy. Her current residency is with Cryptic (Glasgow) at Cove Park. Listen to her music and let her take you to the land of mysterious creatures flitting through the air of woven vocals and mystical sounds.

A quick update
I still haven’t got the time to write about my past projects in 2019.
Right now I’m in Scotland as an artist in residence at Cove Park. This program is supported by #crypticglasgow and funded by #britishcouncil.
During my 3 week stay here I’ll write about what I get to experience, creative outputs and some thoughts and ideas.

in the very beginning of my journey of looking for my sounds, i joined Brett Zweiman every week on a musical voyage into the unknown - that is audiOhm.
every Wednesday at the Hanoi Social Club we have a jam session where people can come to meditate, to dream, to sleep to, to draw to.
i also led a gathering - spirit dance - that is an event where anyone can come and express their body movements freely to live music.
here are some live recordings of audiOhm sessions:

I used to be in an afrobeats band in Hanoi. Even though this genre is totally different from my usual genre but I still really enjoyed my 1.5 years with this band. They had taught me a lot about listening and working together as a strong team. We were 8 different members from different nationalities!

I love performing in Thailand. The smiles, the open-mindness, the connection.
I’ve been coming back to Thailand for 4 times in the last year now, and still counting :)
So far, Bangkok and Chiangmai have been very welcoming.
Much thanks again to all the venues: JAM cafe, De Commune, GOJA, Overstay, Live Lounge, Thapae East

I came to Jai Thep the first time in 2018 and was immediately struck by how much love was put into this amazing festival. My first time ever playing at a festival outside of Vietnam. After performing at the Chillout stage I decided to pursue ‘LinhHafornow’. This festival is my spiritual home in a lot of ways.

In 2019 I came back to the festival with my project ‘LinhHafornow’ and performed at the beautiful Chillout stage at sunrise. This would be one of the most memorable performing experiences for me.

On that same day, I and my partner debuted our project ‘Tiny Giant’ on main stage.

Jai Thep takes pride in being a multi-cultural, international event, with followers returning from all corners of the world, to enjoy resonating beats deep in the Lanna-country side.
What makes Jai Thep a truly awesome experience is the variety of stages, art installations, and magical, immersive environments, workshops and classes to explore. Curious souls who wander off the festival path may encounter many weird and wondrous realms sprinkled throughout the property, each with its’ own unique offerings, music and art.

‘Intransmission’ is a series of experimental multidisciplinary live art shows exploring individual perception and collective experience. Its first edition took place in Hanoi.
There will be two separate rooms that you will visit one after another. While each room will contain its own interactive art installation and distinct music act, they will both be connected: audio and visuals from Room 1 will be live-streamed to Room 2, undergoing distortions in the process. You will be able to take an active part and manipulate what's being transmitted from one room to another.
