Cloud Inversion Over Brothers Water
This mornings cloud inversion over Brothers Water was an amazing sight. Steve was off on a walk, therefore I was dropping him just on the other side of the Kirkstone Pass. What Is A Cloud Inversion? Clouds get trapped in Valleys and is amazing to see. It occurs over when the temperature which cools down the air just above it. However, the air at the top stays warmer as it does not lose its heat as fast. If the night is long, the winds calm and the sky clear, the inversion will be stronger and last longer. Driving Over The Kirkstone Pass Its a spectacular drive with so many beautiful views. You see Troutbeck Tongue and the Valley, surround by the Fells of Froswick, Ill Bell and Yoke. You pass The Queens Head Inn, a great place to stop for a drink and something nice to eat. If you want to walk here its only a 20 minute walk from the Lodges. At the top of the pass you can see Lake Windermere and Ambleside. You can park in the car park opposite The Kirkstone Pass Inn. You have great views down to the Lake and the winding road down to it called "The Struggle". As you head over the other side of the pass, you see the "Kirk Stone" that give the pass its name, this is when you get your first view of Brothers Water and the fells that surround it. There is a car park where you can stop to take pictures or just sit and look at the amazing ever changing view. Carrying on down the other side of the pass you have more great views down this side of the Valley. As you pass The Brotherswater Inn, you get your first close view of Brothers Water itself. There is a small car park and its a lovely circular walk just after Hartsop. If you wish you can carry on the road to Patterdale, Glenridding, Ullswater and Pooley Bridge. All these Villages were affected by severe flooding caused by Storm Desmond in 2015. The story of the floods can be found here, work is still ongoing to try and prevent this from happening again. The Villages have returned to normal. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and explore. Read the full article

Reflecting On The Lakes
The Lake District National Park and poet Tony Walsh have collaborated on this short film "Reflecting On The Lakes". This unique film and poem celebrates The National Park and the World Heritage Site. We were mesmerised by the images and the words. They capture the beauty and the special quality of this special place. If you have not visited before, we hope this inspires you to visit. If you already have fallen in love with the area, there are still so many places to explore. For up to date availability check here.
