I finished just in time but had run out of the greens lol. So it's not perfect BUT the bride loves it so that's all that matters.

Small update.

I felt pretty under the weather this weekend so I didn't stitch at all on my days off. Went back to work last night and got the dark green mostly done. I'm doing two rows of dark green and repeating. I'm thinking I'll have to do at least four sets of five rows? I didn't make it as wide as I hoped but she's also smaller than me so it should work out LOL.

Pattern: Betty McKnight Six day kid blanket -adjusted size.

I stitched 207 to start. I'm using Bernat premium in evergreen, pine and parchment.

I'm also not changing colors when she recommends. I'm doing rows 2-7 in one color and then switching. One day I'll do it the way she wrote the pattern lol.

Ran out of pic room.

After we lost the three kitties last year, Fury's being especially hard bc so unexpected, the house felt unbalanced only having DK and Little Miss. LM was very depressed. Kon was her soulmate and fury was her best buddy and she lost both within six months of eachother. She wasn't eating as much and was clingier than normal which I didn't think possible. But she also just didn't want to interact. Dk was just confused and sad bc LM didn't want to play with him and he had no one else to torment.

We decided to go look at a local rescue. There were a few cats I liked on the website and I esp wanted to meet a torti girl and a void boi. (Was also hoping for the 14yo senior gal or the one eyed bb tbh lol)

We met the first couple and just didn't click. Was told the other two had found homes so yay! And then we met the other forty cats there. And at the end we met Cher.

I had seen Chers picture online and she looked a bit goofy. She was said to be 4yo which was ideally the age we were looking for. She was so tiny, 7lbs. And when I pet her she did happy little tippy tap dance. I knew she'd been there for a while and they said that she had been out with all the other cats at some point and got along with everyone. Perfect. We brought her home. This was like 3/4pm on a Friday and I had work that night. Called to make a vet appt, which would be for I believe the Tuesday? Anyways.

She was at home right away.

This was within the hour of her being with us. She slept with me. She was so stinky. (Shelter stink, it took forever for her to get it out) look how happy. And the other two were intrigued. Kon was the gentlest bestest chillest cat to cat and would love EVERYONE. He must have taught DK that bc he took to her right away. Lm was a bit slower but we never had any issues or bad fights. I was so impressed.

Well turns out she's actually 6-9yo. Has a bunch of health issues LOL including a wonky hip/leg issue that makes her walk like she has CH (wobble cat syndrome) but she's the sweetest girl. And she's developed a massive attitude. She's become so spoiled in the last few months. We love her so much

I just wanted to share. We miss all our kitties very much, and sometimes still call out for one of them or go looking and random things makes us think about them, but having a new baby has been really nice. Doesn't erase the pain but it helps ease it a bit.

Also, picking a new name took forever. Literally two months. We finally picked Sydney, bc she loves to Scream at us.

Welcome home Sydney.

I have updates lol

So in Jan 2024 we adopted Sydney and she's so dramatic. She is an amazing cat. Her and LM finally warmed up and will cuddle together soemtimes and her and DK kinda drifted apart. By the fall, LM was still super sad though. So we made a decision to go back to the shelter.

Immediately I wanted two orange boys who'd been there for months but they weren't really clicking and in the corner was another orange boy we'd seen when we adopted Sydney. He was so shy and scared but he at least let us look at him this time.

Found a bunch and the one I really wanted had already been preadopted. Went into the kitten room and Roomy fell for this "boring" looking gray and white kitten. But she was obsessed. And then we went into the last room which is where Sydney had been stashed. I'm pretty sure it's their sickly cat room. And I found two ridiculous boys. One gray boy with the biggest hamburger shaped head and Tom cheeks and this scraggly looking trash cat carton looking goof ball. I'd seen them online and it said they should go together but then the staff told me that Gray boy had already been adopted out and Scat Cat (scraggles name) was alone again. For the SEcOnD time. Well

That made me feel things. This scraggle muffin of a cat was wheezing at me from a cat bed and nose dripping and mouth drooling and just looked a mess. I pet his head and he turned up into it and my heart was his.

I was super concerned with the breathing issues and hoping with the rough appearance and the two times antibiotics he's been given which hasn't cleared up anything that it wasn't FIV/FIP.

I also couldn't get the orange boy who'd been there for over a YeAR out of my head.

We talked to the volunteer. I put a deposit down for all three and talked to my vet the next day. We made a plan to get scat cat tested for those issues and I was liek you know what I don't even care. I want him. But I didn't want to bring issues to my other cats.

We brought all three home and put them into a quarantine room together. Well someone attacked the six month old kitten and ripped up his stomach bad enough to get a stitch. So he roamed the house and he became obsessed with Sydney. He followed her everyone and tried to nurse. Him and Dk chased eachother and played and watching a 18lb cat chase a 5week old kitten is hilarious and nerve wracking.

Anyways.

This is getting long. Scat cat had all his teeth out. And has ongoing shots to try and fix a really nasty ear and throat infection. But he was fiv/fip neg. And he's turned into the sweetest goofiest boy. He's come along so much!! He's so naughty now too lol. We gave him the name Jethro bc brave boys get brave names.

Chiquita (Ornage boy. That's his shelter name) we still haven't been able to really touch him. I can pet him for a few second maybe once a week lol. BUT he adores curling up with the other cats and he loves LM (but she hates him) and loves chasing Jethro and the kitten now known as Mingi and watching out the windows in sunny spots.

Mingi is so stinky! He grown into such a pretty boy. He's smart and loves Sydney so much. He loves pets and treats.

LM is still an outlier. And then I fostered two boys also six months old and they're so mean! But that can be another post. Anyways. Have a bunch of cute pics!

2025 SAL by Climbing Goats.

I did the dragon Sal last year with them and it was awesome.

I'm a bit behind as we're already on the second critter. Ooops.

This project should run until sept/oct I think.

End of week update. I started adding some of the shading in the bottom to see how I liked the changes and idk if I'm feeling it. Guess I'll go back to just doing the black for now lol.

Almost half done the black parts. I still need to fill shadows and then the empty spaces I will fill with a custom array of a pastel rainbow I put together. Hoping it'll look kinda like a watercolour. I'm honestly not even sure how long I've been working on this. This week I put probably 10-13 hours? I've been working on it during lunches and quiet times since end of November.

I have to finish up the border for my Mythical Creatures SAL and the first creature feature. Ooops.

Wedding present for my friend. Told her she could pick a pattern and this is what she wanted lol. Made a change bc the OG was cats plural, and she only has the one void.

I'm going to try and find something for her mini collie saying the dog is a snitch haha.
