i don’t think the ‘but actually’ was needed here: a teenager dying so young is tragic. he was a little boy.

i know you like to have your fun grifting money and attention out of performatively hating henry viii and jane seymour — but demonising a boy who died at the age of 15 by comparing him to his parents is just lame. the falcon story is possibly apocryphal and playing off of a renaissance convention you simply lack the academic ability to recognise or understand, and the integrity to try to. irrespective of its veracity, children displaying such behaviour should be a cause for concern and empathy. defining edward as a “psychopath” is too simplistic, as well as being wildly anachronistic and bad historical practice. narrativising history might indeed make it more digestible, and, in your case, more profitable. but it makes it all the more apparent that you lack empathy, creativity, curiousity, integrity and talent.
(so does claiming you’re not aware of the fodder of countless reductive pop history articles, that you’ve likely seen and relied upon as ‘research given the lack of any real, original substance you provided. as if this topic is “not talked about enough”!)
#Tudor pop history fans are generally not very normal about Edward vi so seeing this take doesn’t surprise me but#I find it funny how they’re so willing to use modern labels like sociopath and psychopath to describe his behaviour#whilst neglecting other modern explainations such as factors in how he was raised as well as the very possible role of trauma and grief#like even with the high mortality rates of the time he lost a lot of people close to him#there’s the obvious factor of his father and how his legacy was already being viewed somewhat negatively#as well as the target his death and edwards ascension at such a young age placed in edwards back#after that katherine parr who was his closest maternal figure died in the same way his own mother did#and the fact that both of his uncles massively betrayed his trust#particularly thomas seymour who actively presented himself as more likeable and trustworthy only to go and shoot his dog#and even after all of this there’s some (albeit shaky) evidence that he regretted and mourned Edward Seymour’s death#that and the fact that he very much lost Mary in a way due to them becoming estranged because of their religious conflict#and Henry & Charles Brandon dying too which we know he was affected by#all of this along w realising that most of his council means to only use him as political leverage#like all of this is going to have a negative effect on a child’s psyche regardless of how long ago it was#I honestly don’t blame him for acting out in the slightest#ok this has gotten longer than I thought sorry 😭#rip Edward vi I would’ve said that you’d have loved camhs but you’d have hated it as much as the rest of us#edit - op I tried to rb this but accidentally reblogged like 50 times I’m so fucking sorry about that 😭

the only thing more powerful than a weird little girl is a weird middle aged woman. the only thing more powerful than a weird middle aged woman is a weird old lady. and the only thing more powerful than a weird old lady is a weird little girl. thus the world is balanced.

Tbh I don't care about the Odyssey discourse but I saw one tweet where they're like "convenient that they would have a guy who goes on an Odyssey named Odysseus" it was my favorite tweet about the whole thing

to be fair to Cain if nobody had ever died before and I didn't know it was possible I would probably also hit my brother over the head with a rock if he was being really annoying
