Tuned in
When it’s het, it’s a ship,
Gals embrace, not a blip.
Media frenzy, a race to be first,
To quench that 1950’s patriarchal thirst.
So many signs, completely ignored,
Never seeing the prom queen as what they abhor.
We see you and the game, through this obvious charade.
Between worlds, yet in both, a bandit, but shooting straight.
Is it deception when it’s in plain sight?
Screaming in color, but filmed black and white?
Assumptions and narratives, looks are deceiving,
But we still tune in to your narrative that we’re receiving.

Dancing in the Light
She was once lost in a world of doubt,
Heart aching, with silent shouts.
But when something deep inside her stirred,
She realized she needed to be seen and heard.
She burned down the life she built and knew,
To find a life that felt more true.
With her children by her side,
She nodded to fear and kept walking by.
With each step, she found her way,
Creating a life she loved more each day.
She learned to dance in her own light,
To embrace her truth with all her might.
Now she's falling in love with herself,
Discovering her worth and all of her wealth.
With each passing day, she grows more,
As she creates her world, like never before
No longer defined by opinions or fears,
She trusts in herself, embracing the tears.
She's creating a life that's truly her own,
A life where she thrives and pursues the unknown.
Her heart grows full of love and pride,
As she walks by fear, her head held high.
She knows happiness is worth the fight,
And that her focus creates her light.
So she falls in love with herself again,
Knowing she's worthy of all she gained.
And as she looks back at what she's been through,
She smiles proud, of all she outgrew.

Secret To Myself
My bus ride companion, my childhood friend, Though years have passed, some memories transcend. I can’t recall your gentle gaze, Your laughter's sound or specific days.
But when you’d speak, my world would gleam, We’d run and laugh, in my childhood dreams. When you liked that boy, my heart did dwell, Misunderstood childhood love, a secret to myself
And when you moved, my world did break, Your phone number, a cruel mistake. Too short to dial, never meant to ring, My confused heart, left wondering.
Now grown and wise, I see it clear, The obsession I held was a crush so dear. Though time has passed, some memories remain, With new realizations, it was never just games
Dear friend, I cherish all that we shared, The innocence, the joy, the dreams that we bared. And though I can't recall your face tonight, I truly hope life has been treating you alright.
