Do you have any ideas for rewards for littles?

I do! Remember that while everyone likes gifts, rewards don’t always have to be a physical thing that you can hold in your hand. They can be anything that acknowledges the pride you feel for your little for behaving a certain way, accomplishing something or because you just feel like reminding them of it. What’s more meaningful is the thought behind the reward. Here are a few ideas off the top of my head:

heartfelt note, letter, voice recording or video

decorated paci (in their favourite colours or themes)

freedom from chores for the day or weekend

no bedtime on a day of their choosing

trip to a store they love where they can pick something to get

necklace, ring, bracelet, earrings or other jewelry

plan an adventure somewhere (or let them decide on it)

paint their nails

pajamas, onesie, fluffy socks, slippers, hoodie or other comfy article of clothing

let them pick a movie night or marathon (don’t forget their favourite snacks and drinks)

bath bombs, bubble soap or other similar products

games & activities you can play & do together

breakfast in bed (sippy strongly recommended)

bake a cake or make cupcakes for them (or do it together)

organize a scavenger hunt for them

colouring book & markers, pencil crayons, crayons, etc.

scented candles (find out which aromas they like beforehand)

go to ikea or some place similar for redecoration ideas

It’s really important that as a caregiver you show affection regardless of whether it’s tied to a reward. Warmth and communication need to form the foundation of your relationship, and rewards should serve as a supplement.
