there is an insane amount of antisemitism floating around right now.
i just want to say:
this blog loves and supports jewish people.
this blog does NOT conflate the israeli government, or the atrocities it commits, with jewish people.
this blog is disgusted with those who use or express antisemitism.
this blog knows that if someone needs to invoke antisemitism, they do not actually care about helping palestine or the palestinian people.
this blog will do its best to insure that it remains a safe space for all.

Feels worth mentioning that "Zlatý" and "Strojník" mean "gold" and "machinist/engineer/mechanic" (stroj=machine), respectively lol

While I know it's just a byproduct of in-game technology advancing to match release dates and CLK being an homage to the original books, I like to think that Nancy is living in some weird little time glitch and doesn't realize it.
One day its 1930 and she's 16 and she drives her little blue roadster down to solve her first mystery with the help of friends she contacts via a telephone operator (dRoP a NiCkEl iNtO tHe sLoT pLeAsE)
Then suddenly it's 2001 and she's 18 and calling up her friends over the landline of a mansion in San Francisco
Then it's 2005 and she's 19 and calling up people and taking grainy pictures on her little brick cell phone and receiving emails on her brick laptop.
Then suddenly it's 2010 and she's 20 and has a texting smartphone and it's 2015 and she's 20 and her phone has app games and a crystal clear camera.
Then it's 2019 and 2024 and she's still 20 and she stops taking her laptop with her on cases because her cell phone can do (almost) all of it anyways.
She calls up loved ones and asks them for help but they're typically not physically present and they're not always available. when they are they don't do much nancy couldn't figure out herself/in another way, and don't say much that she doesn't already know, so she never realizes she's only talking to herself half the time. Her brain invents memories and scenarios to fill in the gaps and explain away inconsistencies, and cloak the fact that she's 70-90 years removed from her own time and almost everyone she loves.
Every so often she gets an uneasy feeling, a shadow of a sense that something is wrong. Then something outside herself shuts it down and pulls her back to whatever the current case is, and she moves on.
Maybe some curses are real.

Happy KEY eve!!! Be sure to participate in all the traditions! Celebrate by asking invasive questions about someone’s dead mom! Horribly mispronounce someone’s name! Hold a conversation with someone by repeating their last words (tHeIr lAsT wOrDs?)! Kiss a bucket! Put a ladle somewhere it shouldn’t be! And of course, make sure to leave out some Big Island Mike memes and cookies for Santa.

The Junior Detective hints from Ned in the early games are so funny it’s like
Nancy: I need a hint.
Ned: Sometimes I really just want to spin an ornate globe three times to the left and once to the right and then place a giant chess knight on top of the pedestal that rises in front of the fireplace. Do you ever feel like that, Nancy?

person in the past in a nancy drew game: only a family member will be able to solve the mystery i left behind. no one else could dare. no one else has the knowledge and experience required to figure out my riddle. my enigma. no one else has the talent.
nancy, armed with a paper clip, a piece of chewed gum, one (1) page from an old newspaper, an entire loquat, and a phone call to her boyfriend: i have solved the mystery
