She recognized Kanna’s voice right away and looked up, a stricken look on her face. There were a million things she wanted to say, as the mistress had always been kind to her, but Sybil only answered softly, “Four.”

Jun gingerly touched his lip, nose crincled in dissatisfaction as he felt the cut under his fingertips. He hadn’t been here very long and he was already getting beaten up. Not because he had misbehaved, but because he had just gotten in the way of a master. The vampire had been close to killing the other slave and Jun couldn’t just stand there and do nothing, so he had stepped between the two of them and had paid for it by getting himself beaten instead. Now, the wolf found himself back in his cell, face still sore, but he would live. And he was pretty sure he had saved that girl’s life, so he was still feeling pretty good about himself. That was when he picked up movement outside his cell, dropping his hand from his lip, eyes moving to the figure now standing there. “Just don’t ask.” 

▬   “ no need to. “ Word traveled fast in the Chateau. Especially when it involved an angry master or mistress. She wasn’t on call this week or the next, she was visiting the Chateau for more of her own desire this time. The first thing Peter did when he reverted back to his original body was find some random slave and beat them within an inch of their life. When another guard tried to question him, Peter shot them a glare almost daring him to try to stop him. The young vampire had a lot of pent up frustration from the events of the weekend. He would pay for the toy’s medical bills, as he always did. As the slave neared the point of falling completely unconscious, Peter backed off, only to find he had an onlooker at his side. “Enjoying show?”, he asked.

▬   “more like assessing the damage.” Blood pooled near her expensive heels, but she didn’t seem to mind. There wasn’t much that surprised Kanna, and seeing the beheading of her sister had gotten rid of any uneasiness that medical school had not — and it had hardened her quite a bit. Besides. She was a wolf. Blood was a way of life. “Killing him outright may save money.”

Running away hadn’t just been unfathomably stupid – it was practically suicidal. She sat huddled in the corner of her cell, knees pulled up against her chest, doing her best to disappear.
