Kevin and I created a survey to ask the participants how they feel about our idea, such as, how do you think about climate change?, or Have you ever played the 2D side-scrolling game? Also, we asked the students from the studio to come and test our game once a week. Here are the videos to present the test results:
We tested our game with people who are aged between our desired demographic of 15 to 25. We asked people to come to test the game on our laptop and we discussed how to run the game on the big screen in Aotea Square in Week 4. Test participants need to fill up the survey before they test the game. We will collect their opinion on the survey as well.
Investigated the Aotea Square in Week 4.

We started running the game. We linked the start button to the game stages and linked the exit button to quit the game. However, we don’t know how to create the about button to show our information.
In the first presentation, the game prototype was too easy, we tried to make the game to be more complicated. The testers want us to add more. We added some different elements to make the game become interesting. Easy to play but not easy to win.
We added Timer, different Stages, Scores etc. Different Endings depend on different scores. There are 10 rubbish needed to be collected per stage in 1min max.
During the last three weeks, we create the game prototype under Unreal4 gaming engine. Kevin and I are doing the game mechanism and game design. Mandy and Cadence are doing the artwork of the game. Tama is doing the music of the game. So far, we created the game prototype and started to fill up the character and design the map of the game. This won't be long and hopefully, we can finish it asap. It's a busy time!
We had completed the briefly concept of our Aotea Square project. We are going to design a game that based on Butterfly System (Effect). The theme of the game is trying to make people to understand what you did could affect the environment. Butterfly System means different choices and affect to different endings. What you did could change the future. After the presentation, we found out it’s difficult to define the game, here are some key issues.
How to make people willing to play the game?
How long for the game?
How to connect the big environment which is Aotea Square?
Any collaboration that for the player? Especially the family.
Not only for these question, we have to think more about it.
So far from the last few weeks, we are planning to design a small game as the conceptual project. The idea is about the environment, the player could decide to save the environment or destroy it with some actions. The game will be include the butterfly system (effect), that’s mean what you did before may change the result later.
Welcome Back from the Sem break, and we need to carry on our studio project. This Sem I chose to study the Digital Interactive. This is about the big screen that was set up in Aotea Square, and we need to create something interesting which can attract people to stay in the area and make the communication. The reason I choose this stream is I want to encourage people to getting more and more communication, It’ s also what I always wanted in my project.
