stupid thing because i realized what the inverted cats kinda looked like in that art LMAO

alls that to say FRIEND’S full body (???) very clearly parelleling endogeny (“it’s unclear how many dogs this counts as.”) + multiple other characters taking up a role it once played has to mean something right .

i don’t so much think FRIEND is/was mike, i moreso just think it was the voice spamton was talking to on the phone, and was around him (“around” in a weird ~lurking in the very code of the world~ sense) during his bigshot era. when tenna called for mike (who originally might’ve just been meant as a “mic check” thing) it sometimes responded, because helping tenna run his show was a way of helping spamton. and it’s the explanation for the “or it just sorta happens” line. and that’s why “mike acted different after the other guy left” spamton left, so did FRIEND, who got associated with “mike’s” actions

i don’t even necessarily subscribe to this theory, i just wanted to draw it being handsome and freaky

that's not evening getting into my insane theory that the cat that lowered her points when Noelle played cat petterz (aka, FRIEND) is a good thing. the fact that she's required for the Weird Route, which is about getting stronger. the [[Hyperlinked Blocked]] = LOVE theory, and how getting stronger in the weird route is the closest you can get to gaining LV in Deltarune's universe.

the way you increase your Level of Violence in Undertale is by gaining Execution Points. of course FRIEND could lower those points, IT'S THE COLOR OF THE SPARE OPTIONS!

one thing i didn't see bring up with this idea is what friend actually does in the minigame...

they have a chance to award such an insane amount of points they're really all that's worth going in the REALLY high levels, while also massively decreasing your fuel. here's a video of that with a timestamp (which is actually footage from op of that twitter post!)

it's a "the payoff outweighs the risk" situation, something that would fit the idea of FRIEND helping anyone. you get your points, at a cost that you could easily loose the game from if you're not careful. don't blame me, you're the one that chose to go for it!

(also, this gets more headcanon-y rather than theory based, but isn't it funny how battat is the game you can easily get the most points in (by like, a LOT) and it's attached to the guy who wants to be the real mike the most? who's the one to claim the one with the highest score is the real one?? almost like the "humble servant" specifically shows up to help get those points... well, if you really want to be mike, i'll lend a hand!)

The fun part about FRIEND as a character is that i don't subscribe to this unified idea that Friend is this ultimate evil/the fucking Satan. The same reason why I don't think Carol Holiday is an abusive irredeemable mother. In both cases I'm just excited to find out how it isn't the case.

i think when talking about the mikes (and friend, by association) and their ties to cat petterz, a detail that i've seen overlooked is that mike's room might just... be the copy of it that's in the dreemurr house
