Sometimes I see advice that you do not have to stop or comply, legally, with employees or bystanders that are not police and THAT IS TRUE.

HOWEVER:

As someone in the US (EEUU) and in the south I do want to remind you that some employees or bystanders MAY BE ARMED.

The legality of them shooting you for running away or trying to push past then depends on your state, or course, but we've all seen cases where nothing happens.

Most importantly whether or not they get in trouble after the fact is AFTER THE FACT. Them catching a charge will not change that you are maimed or killed.

It won't matter to you that they are in jail if you are dead.

If any employee or bystander who is armed engages with you, drop anything you are holding and do not approach. If they are between you and exit, do not try to push past them.

You will have to determine in the moment whether or not compliance or flight is safest for you.

Compliance does not guarantee your safety, many people have been killed while complying with an armed bystander. If you decide to flee, get as far away from them as possible and put as many solid objects between them and you as possible.

I don't say this to scare anyone, I just want all of you to be safe. No one should hurt someone or be hurt over property. I don't want any of y'all to become victims of a capitalist system that values things over people.

Live comfortably! It doesn’t cost a fortune and if you don’t have a car, do what I do and bus to it! Lots of people do it and they’re just fine with it :) Get what you need and don’t struggle :)

What method do you use the most? Some of your hauls are insane 😭

Here are some general tips on how I shop! While I would love to bring a partner with me almost every time I go shopping, I know that luxury is something not everyone has. Here are some methods you can use/practice with.

Cup Method:

Cut an X or T-shaped slit under the bottom of a starbucks hot cup. Lubricate the slit with lip balm so it isn’t noisy. Bring two of the same item you want and slip one underneath the cup. This works best with my fav, Dior Lippies! You can also use this cup to hide clothes in. Please for the love of God and my sanity, practice this sleight of hand beforehand, at home. You will need to replace your cup after a while.

Bigger/Under

Get a nice good long and big pair of pants/jeans/jacket/etc WITH POCKETS. BONUS POINTS IF THERE ARE POCKETS WITH ZIPPERS. Hide some smaller sized clothing/accessories underneath the bigger piece of clothing and “try on just this one” at the fitting room. Please note that this may not work should the SA be required to take your clothing and put it in the room for you. Now that you have taken your shoes off to look like you’re “trying stuff on” detag/detach any and all tags and stickers from the clothes you want to buy, and stuff them in the pockets of the bigger piece of clothing. Once you have properly concealed, and left no trace of tags/stickers/etc on the floor, leave and put back the bigger piece of clothing with the tags/etc back where you got it. If asked, say “I’ll keep looking, thank you” and quickly leave the fitting room.

Body Coneal

I love to conceal using my body. I either wear shorts with a tight, stretchy waistband, or leggings underneath baggy sweatpants. When you wear shorts, wear something bigger over. When you wear baggy sweatpants, wear something smaller over. Conceal in the dressing room, and use the mirrors to check if anything is protruding or if you obviously look like you have something underneath your clothes. You can also wear clothes underneath clothes you’re already wearing. I wore jackets underneath sweatshirts, and shorts underneath pants/etc.

in my experience the easiest way to not look even slightly sus in a store is to make a direct beeline to the clearance section, and look there first before going anywhere else.
