New Film From Writer/Director Marcia Kimpton “Bardo Blues” To Close Out Eighth Annual SOHO International Film Festival As Official Selection
With the SOHO International Film Festival right around the corner at  Village East Cinemas (189 2nd Avenue on 12th Street), #SOHO8 recently announced a brand new drama making its WORLD PREMIERE as an official selection on Closing Night, Wednesday, June 21st!
From Writer/Director/Producer/Actress Marcia Kimpton comes her Feature Film Debut “Bardo Blues” starring Stephen McClintic (“Planet M”), Brian Gross (“2001 Maniacs”), and Natalie Sperl (“Around the World in 80 Days”).
Set in Thailand, Bardo Blues follows Jack as he struggles to learn the truth about the mother that abandoned him and his own reason for existing. Weaving spiritual awakenings and soulful struggle, Bardo Blues will leave you questioning everything you think you know about who you are, where you came from and where you're going.
More About Writer/Director/Producer/Actress Marcia Kimpton:
Tumblr media
Marcia Kimpton has produced and directed a number of successful web series, TV pilots and short films. With “Brado Blues” being her first feature film, it has already been submitted to a number of of other film festivals in 2017.
“Planet M” was Kimpton’s short film directorial debut in which she acted, produced, and wrote the screenplay of the dark comedy that captures a late night host in a downward spiral into the depths of reality TV. Given the rise of content satirizing reality TV, Marcia created a continuing web series with the characters from the film that is going into it's third season. Prior to “Planet M,” her first short was “STAR” - a mock documentary and satire she starred in, wrote and produced. Kimpton also created a pilot for the TV series “An American in Amsterdam” which is currently being pitched to Dutch networks.
Kimpton has produced, written, hosted and acted in 25 shows for television. In 1998, she produced and hosted “Live From the Starlight Room,” a local late night show on KGO-ABC in San Francisco. Prior to this, she was a music and entertainment reporter for four years on KTVU-Fox Morning Show in San Francisco.
She’s studied with the Lee Strausberg Actor’s studio and NYU's film program in New York City, and has traveled to more than 40 countries, studied at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, and continued her extensive studies in meditation and yoga.
With such an accomplished writer/director behind the helm and an incredibly engaging story blending the cold realities of failure and the troubles of someone’s own mind, Bardo Blues is a film not to be missed at the Eighth Annual SOHO International Film Festival’s Closing Night, Wednesday, June 21st!

People across the world and throughout generations love the Beatles for a variety of reasons. Some love them because they created an incredibly diverse catalogue of music within a relatively short period of time. Others argue that they set a new standard for inventiveness and originality in popular music. For some, hearing a certain song or a specific chord transition transports them back to exact memory from their lives, and for many more their non-formulaic and relatable approach to popular music continues to resonate and inspire, proving that they were well ahead of their time. No matter what the reason is for appreciating The Beatles’ contributions to music as a whole, everyone can agree that their impact remains palpable through contemporary artists and their message.

THIRD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL PETER TOSH DAY THURSDAY, APRIL 20TH
Iconic Star’s Legacy Prevails As Noted Musicians/Bands and Family Plan Celebrations Through Facebook LIVE and More to Honor “The Steppin’ Razor”
Having recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of his timeless classic “Legalize It” on the heels of the Peter Tosh Museum grand opening, fans worldwide are getting ready for “International Peter Tosh Day” on Thursday, April 20th, 2017!
Among the many acts who are planning tributes and messages of gratitude spreading the “Legalize It” movement worldwide; Tosh’s children and grandchildren including sons Andrew Tosh and Jawara “Tosh 1” McIntosh, grandson Dre Tosh, and granddaughter Jahzarah McIntosh have continued their father and grandfather’s legacy through music and advocacy.
Granddaughter Jahzarah, who will be participating in a Facebook LIVE stream to commemorate the third annual International Peter Tosh Day, recently had this to say on the upcoming celebration:
“I believe that it’s time that the world comes together and celebrates my grandfather Peter Tosh. Over 40 years ago, he released his iconic song and album Legalize It.  A song that became the anthem for those that believed that our human rights should NEVER be compromised. Join me and many others as we celebrate the musician, the activist, the revolutionary, and the visionary on April 20th,  International Peter Tosh Day by sharing your videos and photos with #petertosh420 and #420intlpetertoshday.”

Additionally- Dre Tosh, who released a cover of “Comin’ In Hot” late last year in tribute to his grandfather, will be be going LIVE via Facebook continuing to spread the message of equal rights, cannabis legalization, and expansion of Jamaica’s worldwide cultural influence that Peter Tosh so passionately fought for.
Just last year, the Tosh Family announced the launch of the “Peter Tosh 420” cannabis brand, which will be launched in tandem with this year’s celebration! A company with a mission to organically grow the Peter Tosh legacy by providing quality cannabis products for medicinal power, spiritual enlightenment and recreational enjoyment- PT 420 will embrace the mind, body, and spiritual aspects of the cannabis culture. In addition, proceeds from every sale will be donated to the Peter Tosh Foundation to support education and social programs with an emphasis on social justice, cannabis legalization, and other humanitarian causes in Jamaica and around the world.
International Peter Tosh Day will also be a day of recognition focused on Tosh’s contributions as a revolutionary musician in hopes that he will be considered for the 2018 class of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductions and given the rightful honor he wholeheartedly deserves, with the continued #InductTosh movement spreading worldwide.
A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Peter Tosh and The Wailers became pioneers of the burgeoning reggae scene in the late 1960’s, and together they toured the world for over ten years. He left the band in 1973 to pursue his solo career and earned huge success with “Legalize It” and later solo releases. He was tragically assassinated in his home in 1987 at the age of 42. In 1988, he was posthumously awarded a Grammy for Best Reggae Album for 1987’s “No Nuclear War”.
So this coming Thursday, April 20th celebrate International Peter Tosh Day via Facebook Live and join the Tosh Family, Estate, and countless others around the world in honoring the legacy of a true cultural icon!

Having already garnered praise from media outlets across the country, performing the world over on Germany’s “Superkids” TV show this past July, and continuing to gain massive exposure with her larger than life talent- young star Merideth Puckett is winning over fans across the globe!
With a poise that belies her age, the newcomer is generating a booming buzz that has people talking about the little girl with the big voice. At only 13 years old, Merideth sings with an emotion people twice her age can rarely articulate in a song. The Paris, TX native’s soulful vocals transport a listener to another world, so it’s no surprise that top producers and managers are clamoring to work with her. The Huffington Post wrote, “Look out, Music City. Pretty soon, you might have another incredible voice on your hands” and they couldn’t be more on the money.
When a friend recorded Meredith singing Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” in the kitchen, she wasn’t expecting to gain over 20-million views. “I was shocked! I was expecting maybe 100 people to hear me sing; we went to sleep that night and it was already at 11,000 views. It was amazing!”. The viral video caught the eye of someone in Merideth’s church who reached out to a guy in Nashville. That ‘guy’ was Grammy-Award winning producer/writer Aaron Pearce, who has worked with Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, Boys II Men, Jill Scott, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin and Willie Nelson, just to name a few. Flying to Nashville with her parents, Merideth met with Aaron, who not only wanted to work on music with her, but also introduced her to Global Entertainment Management’s Jerry Blair, who ended up as her Manager.
Meredith has grown up surrounded by song and was exposed to a range of different flavors from a young age. Her grandfather arranged and performed all the music for the Parish. Her mother and two younger sisters sing, and her Uncles play, write and perform music. Even though Merideth didn’t know exactly what it meant, she announced to her parents she wanted to be a singer when she was 6, absorbing and studying the sounds of Adele, Carole King, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Hall & Oates.
While she has the singing part down pat, Merideth has begun to work on her songwriting, learning guitar so she can accompany herself. “I’ve written a bunch of melodies and have started to keep a diary so I can focus on what I am feeling. When I start writing lyrics, I want people to connect with me personally.”
As she develops as an artist, Merideth is also becoming a fan favorite, building a strong teen following on social media. “It’s really cool. I like to write back to the people who comment on what I post, and I try to put up a new video on YouTube every few weeks. It’s hard for me to believe I get to do this, it’s like living in a dream.”
So where does young Merideth Puckett see herself in five years? “Oh, still making music! When I sing, I feel like I am in my own world. This past 4th of July my family and I were downtown and there was a little stage for local performers. I got up and sang “God Bless the USA,” and when I started, there were maybe 10 people standing around. By the end of the song, there were almost 100 people gathered, singing with me and swaying their arms. It was magic.”
And as the magic continues, with the young star making a visit to New York City this week, there will surely be plenty of opportunities for Puckett to show off her spectacular vocal talents while gaining further perspective and continuing to hone her craft in the city where dreams are made of!

Having reached #22 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart earlier this year, Italian Singer/Songwriter and Pop Recording Artist Alessandro Coli continues his rise as one of the breakout stars of the worldwide pop scene. He’s been working recently in Miami with multi-platinum producer and remixer Chris "C-Rod" Rodriguez on his latest songs including his upcoming single "I Betcha", while releasing past fiery hits and remixes from tracks like “Flames” to the sultry “My Religion”. Now he’s ready to bring his powerful talents stateside as he heads to New York this October to promote his new music with Performances, Radio and TV appearances, and more!
Alessandro Coli is a very promising and gifted singer/songwriter of the new generation, with easy flowing lyrics that have a strong International breath mark.
Born in Santarcangelo di Romagna in 1997, he has been in love with music since he was five years old; his passion for music grew more and more by listening to Freddie Mercury.
He participated in a famous TV show called Io Canto, where his musicianship was immediately detected, and in 2011 he released his first single "Sento che", which in only 10 days topped the Italian radio charts and was in the top 30 for over a month. After his single’s success, his first digital EP "Senza Paura" was released, distributed by Sony Music.
With his most recent release of “Flames”, legendary DJ publication Kings Of Spins called it a “smokin’ club track” which “furthers his commitment to making an impact on the US Club scene-- and he DEFINITELY steps his efforts UP”. The remixes include a spectrum of multi-international producers like DJ Suri & Chris Daniel (Spain), Cristian Poow (South America/Argentina), Australian up-and-coming talent Starshine, Miami-born Italian Giuseppe D., Americans DJ Alan bd & Clint Clinton, and Cuban up-n-comer STINGRAY.

Singer/Songwriter/Actress Kim Vogels Continues to Blend Her Multitude of Talents and “Gather Her Wolves”
On the heels of her debut EP “Native”, Amsterdam’s own Singer/Songwriter/Actress Kim Vogels has been attracting plenty of attention with her unique blend of “Gypsy Folk Rock” from Long Island’s East End all the way to the Big Apple, as she gears up for the release of her brand new video “Call of the Wild” with the help of Hand Me Down Films.
Watch the brand new video for “Call of the Wild” here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JhdsQCpEgE
Born in Amsterdam into a creative family, Kim Vogels began her artistic journey as a classical and jazz cellist at the age of five. Over time and over seven different cities in four different countries, Kim was drawn to create and express not just through music. This lead to her studies at prestigious drama school Rose Bruford College in London where she was able to explore all sides of acting, performance art, physical and experimental theatre, and the blend of music and theatre.
After a few years in London she attended The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York City for two years. There she was able to truly find and explore her love for the art of acting on stage and in front of the camera. As a professional Actress, music has again become an avenue of expression using her cello as well as guitar to create original material. Finding a niche in the acting industry as an actor/musician it was her role as "Jazz", a 1960's Greenwich Village Beatnik poetess, in Kingdom Entertainment's Folk City: The Musical, that really sparked the singer/songwriter within her. Folk City “captured the intoxicating world of music, drugs, and sex that lured America’s youth to 1960s Greenwich Village”. It was in this production where she met fellow actor and musician Cass Dillon, who later went on to produce Kim Vogels’ debut EP "Native". She is currently working on putting together a tour and on writing/recording new material.
“It may be a simple concept but it is a strong one: ‘to love, enjoy and fully experience the movement of your own body’. I love to dance and move and walk and breath, things we often take for granted, ‘Call of The Wild’ is my invitation to move”
Being brought up surrounded by so many different cultures she was drawn to the power and energy of the original sound of those worlds i.e. Flamenco, Klezmer, Celtic, early Persian, Gypsy, Native American, Folk & Blues etc. Even though these musical styles are all quite different from each other, they hold a similarity in their powerful connection to their culture. In the creation of Kim's music and her first EP it was apparent how many different global influences there were. As she moved from place to place she was drawn to the soul of those cultures, eventually fusing them together to create her own sound, her own unique culture, her own "Native" produced at Baby Studios on Long Island.

Singer/Songwriter Juliet Huns Making Her Mark On the Dance & Pop Music Scene
Having released her debut EP “Behind the Scenes” this past April, Singer/Songwriter Juliet Huns has brought a soulful yet powerful compilation of danceable hits onto a scene constantly cluttered with less-than-unique musings and thrown-together beats. As a rising talent, she’s been able to harness her positive energy into songs that deal with everything from the complicated consequences of love to the limits one takes in judging others.
Born in Kenya and raised in Ghana, the 20 year old Huns started her career at the age of 15 (though she’d been singing as soon as she was able to speak as a child), recording her first single “Karibu” with Ghanaian Dancehall sensation Stonebwoy. Then in 2015, she recorded her second single “Touch My Body” with Ghanaian singer Stay-Jay.
Making her new home in Los Angeles this past January 2016, she recorded “Behind The Scenes” with Producer Luke Sanchez followed by shooting the music video for single “Gone” about “falling in love with the wrong person and being captivated in that disruptive love”. The video encapsulates the struggle through a combination of powerful imagery and perspective.
This past July, she was included as part of a deluxe album release with producer Jonathan Hay along with Mike Smith and King Tech of BET’s TV Show “One Shot”.  She is also currently in the studio working on a new single with producer Luke Sanchez.
“I’ve always been a rebel. Not a bad rebel, but a good one in the sense that I always fight for my dreams and what I believe in — regardless of who’s supporting me.”
With the new EP already garnering praise, RNB XCLUSIVE says “If natural talent is something you don’t believe in..give her a moment and let her passionate voice testify in all its glory” along with So Raspy touting her “International rise”.
With much more in store for the coming months, Juliet Huns is sure to keep nourishing her creative soul to bring more incredible music and live performances to the world of dance/pop music! But to hear for yourself, check out “Behind The Scenes” today!
