- tutorial 04 -
tutorial 04 was about contour lines & sections!
this session was nice. it was almost like a working period, but we also learned some important tools.
I learned to trim objects, and create sections, and view the project in an axo view. I find that Rhino is much easier to use than Revit, but it’s almost as if it has too much freedom ... not complaining though. I just need to learn how to build with control!
anyway, this upcoming week I will hopefully start to reach the final steps of this project (lazer cutting and create a draft of the InDesign. there is a TON of things that we have to get done before february break ... AH

today’s lecture: I definitely interpreted this project in an immensely unnecessary abstract way...
slowly bringing it back to ‘reality’

- tutorial 03 -
tutorial 03 was all about rendering. trying out v-ray with rhino, and photoshop.
I actually feel like I’m somewhat starting to understand how rhino works ... FINALLY !! I’m asking more questions, even though they might be super obvious for the TA’s ... oops !!
we started the morning off by running through the basics and reviewing some things on rhino, and we dove into working with v-ray for the rendering parts. it was a little rough for me as my model isn’t really there / something I’m not happy with. so, working the rendering for this model was kinda “meh.” although, it helped a lot and I now know how to somewhat render with v-ray. we moved the renders to photoshop, photoshop now feels like “home” whenever I get to use it! rhino is such a foreign land. I ran into some problems, but with the help of the TA’s, they were solved ! I just wished that v-ray would have a longer trial so I could use it on my computer.
RHINO: we learned to render shadows, sky, sun, and save images as PNG’s
PHOTOSHOP: we learned to edit photos (levels, curves) / images that are to be placed on images (lil’ scaled figures), and how to warp/distort images for textures.
we were also taught the many websites that offer lil’ figures (https://skalgubbar.se/) and textures (https://www.textures.com/).
problem_01: my ad file was basically LOST in space when I transferred it into rhino...
solution_01: if I can recall, it was something with “Z, Enter, E, Enter, Move, Plot or 0, Enter, 0, Enter” ... I could also be TOTALLY wrong though
problem_02: my sun was being silly, and casting a HUGE shadow that I did not want. at. all/
solution_02: still kinda unknown, but apparently, I had some RANDOM floor floating in space ....??? I don’t know....
problem_03: my entire render was BLACK ... no matter how much editing I did it was just BLACK
solution_03: just reset the render !
weather: it was sunny, miss the sun a little more than usual these days : ( I’m realizing how I took it from granted that I lived in the sunniest part of Canada before moving here
transportation: walked to school
monday was a good day, and this is something I like ... also related to the sun : )

ideas: idk, this song reminded me of where we came from, then I got thinking about stars...aka this project for me
also this song sounds “expansive” and “deep” - so, s p a c e !!
lol - does that even make sense (idk, does for me)

ideas: my ‘concept’ reminded me of this song
“ &I'm floating in a most peculiar way / & the stars look very different today”
“ far above the world / planet Earth is blue / & there's nothing I can do”
“ far above the moon / planet Earth is blue / & there's nothing I can do

- tutorial 02 -
we played around with GIS, Autocad, Illustrator, and Rhino
this tutorial was better, i wasn’t as lost. the process of importing autocad files to illustrator allowed me to see the many possibilities that these software's could do - something 2b stoked about ! wooo !
we learned rhino 2d - pretty cool...but honestly, rhino still confuses me, but that’s ok. it’s a learning process.
weather: snowy, lots of snow. it was a hike...snowshoes would have helped.
transportation: walked to school
walking to school these days .... (plz remember 2 shovel, ottawa community)
where i wish i was
