How did you honestly feel about Varian's crimes when he was 14-15yrs old?? Like- He did really cool things despite their morality~~

On one hand, @goggles-varian did awful things. What he did makes sense given the circumstances, but they are still awful. He has done amazing to make back up for it, and everyone around him has forgiven him.

On the other hand, truth cookies. Reverse engineering an automaton that can self-assemble. And also that fake version of himself he made? High-quality craftsman ship, guys. High-quality stuff.

Do you like baking? If so, what's your favorite thing to bake?

(Oh btw, I just wanna let you know your child drugged an entire kingdom using cookie which was AWSOME)

I love baking! My parents owned a bakery, so I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. I like baking things with lemon specifically, I love how the smell fills the whole room. Specifically lemon tarts, actually.

And yes, I am aware that @goggles-varian drugged the kingdom with cookies. While the ‘responsible mom thing’ would be to scold them, I can’t help but admire how freaking smart that was. Cookies? It is pretty awesome.

Did you ever see Quirin again after everything? Does he visit you in the library?

Yes, of course I got to see Quirin! It was wonderful to see him again after so much time, and he did think I was dead so there is that. He always makes an effort to visit the Library and me, but he has business in Old Corona so I don’t see him as often as I’d like.

Interestingly enough, the noun ‘crush’ dates back to the 14th century when it was used to describe the “noise of violent percussion,” as a synonym to ‘clash.’ It likely came from the French word cruissir, which meant “gnash (teeth) or crack,” though the origin of that word is unknown. By the 1600s, ‘crush’ was defined as “violent compression or pressure that bruises, breaks down, injures, or destroys.” As a verb, it meant “to compress or squeeze with force.” One could also be ‘crushed’ by sadness or stress. The figurative definition of ‘crush’ likely developed alongside the literal definition. One of the earliest times the word ‘crush’ was used figuratively was in 1599 by Thomas Moffett, an English physician, “the hart-breake crush of melancholies wheele.” In 1986, William Safire said in a column that it could mean the “language of secret lust,” and that ‘crush’ had been “modified to mean infatuation or puppy love.” This meaning likely came to be in the late 9th century, taken from the literal sense because the weight of your feelings become so intense that they feel like they are crushing you.” In the 1880s, ‘mash’ was used alongside ‘crush.’ I would love to know why ‘crush’ flourished while ‘mash’ did not! Unfortunately since I left Varian at such a young age, I don’t have many stories about him growing up. I wish I could’ve been with him longer, but I do treasure what I have!

One fine morning, Quirin was out grocery shopping and I was working on an experiment- I don’t remember what. Varian must’ve been almost one at the time, and he was helping. He was sitting on the table watching everything with fascination, paying utter attention as I sipped my coffee and told him about the experiment. Eventually, Quirin came home and I went to go help put groceries away.

When I came back I found Varian sitting on the table clutching my coffee mug. My empty coffee mug. He had drank my entire cup of coffee.

I swear he was shaking for the rest of the day.

I love Varian’s friends. They are all wonderful people and I am so glad that he has friends exactly as smart and nerdy as him.

As for the crimes, I’m disappointed. There’s no other way to say it than bluntly- I am disappointed. He did horrible things. I wish he hadn’t, but I also understand exactly what was going on in his head. He was alone, and while I understand that Rapunzel couldn’t have helped him during the blizzard I think they way she handled that could have been better.

And I am truly sorry for leaving Varian as a baby. However, I had to weigh the costs of my wants with the costs of the world’s wants.

Any cool topics you found interesting while in the library?

Why yes!

So the Library isn’t exactly in reality. It’s somewhere else, and I wish I could explain it better but that’s not the point. The point is that sometimes objects would appear in the Library. And one point, a very large object did appear directly in front of me.

It was a sewing machine. A beautiful, slightly rusted Singer sewing machine. Made of black cast iron, in an original wood cabinet with fully stocked drawers. On it was a beautiful golden label- 206K. (For those who don’t know, the ‘206’ is the type of sewing machine, and the ‘K’ because it was made in Singer’s largest factory, in Kilbowie!) Clearly, I did the only rational thing and found the manual from 1953 and (attempted) to fix her up. Singer 206ks were not very great machines. Other sewing machine brands were releasing their zigzag machines around this time, and Singer had to rush them into production- with a few errors. Namely, they used 206x13 needles which are slightly shorter than standard 15x1 needles. This machine invented its own needle size that it could not function without. Luckily I had a bunch in the drawers!

I got it running, figured out how to thread it, and was able to sew a few stitches before it got jammed! It’s able to go backwards too, and that works flawlessly. The hand wheel and the stitch length lever looked different than the manual, but it didn’t really change much. I assumed there was some issue with the bobbin tension of the machine which caused it to keep jamming, and began to attempt to read the Adjuster’s Manual for it. It was so boring, I fell asleep. Twice. And that’s really saying something.

It was when I tore my skirt getting some other books that I really tried to use it to fix something. To do this, I needed a basting stitch.

And then it all began.

First off, I found the section in the manual for changing stitches. Tried it, did not work. Looked closer, and realized my bight control (fancy stitch changer) did not look like the one in the manual. I was missing a thumb-screw and had an extra lever. This wasn’t just a slight cosmetic detail, this was a huge functioning part of this machine doesn’t match up.

Okay, whatever, it got repaired with a different sewing machine’s part. Just gotta figure out what machine I got this part from and follow that manual. Easy, right? WRONG. It was the part from a 305w, an industrial double-needle machine from a few years’ later. You know what else the 305w has? THE SAME HAND CRANK AND STITCH LENGTH LEVER.

I then located the following photos: a 305w labeled as a 206k. A 206k with the same features as the manual. A 206k with the same features as mine. Four different editions of the 206k manual from 1950-1953, which all had the sewing machine I don’t have.

It was at the point I was overtaken by confusion. I tried to figure it out more, couldn’t do it before Varian found me. It still infuriates me. I want to know this sewing machine issue.

What's your opinion on Hugo and his relationship with Varian? Oh and the fact that he's Donnie's kinda-techincally son?

Hugo is.., Hugo is a very motivated young man with a passion for science I haven’t seen in many people. I don’t have anything against him, especially since he’s so dear to two of my favorite people ( @engineer-Donella and @goggles-varian )

Varian is very happy with Hugo, and I am happy for him! As long as he’s happy, I’m happy <3

I’m actually very glad that he’s Ella’s son. I was extremely worried about what she would do after I trapped her out of the Library. While she did try to get back in, it was Hugo who distracted her and made her a better person. It was Hugo who allowed her to love someone. It was Hugo who was responsible for her change. I owe a lot to you, @blondebitch7k.

Did you guys ever figure out how to stop Kotos meteor problem? If so what was the solution?

I can safely say that yes, we did fix the problem! Although, it isn’t my place to reveal how. I am not from Koto and don’t understand the complex inner workings of royalty, so I don’t want to give away potentially dangerous information. I would direct you to @starprincessnuru, but I don’t want to stress her out. I think the best person to ask would be the King of Koto… if you can get a hold of him.

But in the end it’s fixed, everyone’s safe, and that’s all that matters!

Amber’s siblings are wonderful, genius people! I am so lucky to have such amazing nieces and nephews. As for the ‘before yk…’ I am assuming you mean before I got trapped in the Library. Is that correct?

If so, I did not get the chance to. I really wish I did, but sometimes things don’t work out. As I said in an earlier post, I do exchange letters with them quite frequently!

What's your favorite section in the library?

The books! Always the books. There are so many, I just cannot express the sheer quantity of books there are. While the Library does have some lovely other stuff in it- microfiche, video tapes, cds- none of them go back anywhere near as far as the books do. There is so much history in them! And I just love when you open a really old book and realize, you are the first person to touch this in a hundred years. You. It makes you really feel like part of history!

…and they smell really nice.

Favorite food/drink?

I’m a big fan of warm sourdough bread with some goat cheese and dried herbs on it. I grew up eating it! My mom always made the best bread… I tried making my own after I left Neserdnia but it was never the same </3

As for drink, while I was researching for the Trials I pulled a *lot* of all-nighters and @engineer-donella introduced me to a lovely substance known as coffee. (I did know it existed before, just never thought to drink it myself!) …Suffice to say, I am quite the coffee addict now.

Have you met all your nieces and nephews yet? Who's your favorite?

I don’t think it would be very ‘aunt-ly’ of me to pick a favorite.

That said, I unfortunately haven’t gotten to meet them in person due to some certain circumstances. I’ve gotten letters from each of them, though! They’re all wonderful. Even if I tried to pick a favorite I couldn’t, they’e just too gosh darn amazing!

Hiya! Really good, thanks for asking! There’s simply so much knowledge in here that I will never be able to see it all, but I sure as heck will try! I did recently find an old sewing machine manual and it seemed super advanced! Wish I could see the actual machine. …it is a bit lonely in here, though. @engineer-donella, you really need to visit more. And @goggles-varian. And like everyone else.

C’mon guys, considering the fact you spent two years trying to get here you really don’t visit enough.
