As artists and as humans we need each other. We need to feel connected and heard and understood. We are not a commodity, sales figures and data marks. We need love and criticism equally, some feedback to know we are not alone, how to do better, and see where others failed or succeeded.
What's the point of building a future that we are not able to connect to each other in authentic ways? I have long form thoughts and layers of meaning behind all I do. How do I show that to someone in a 30 second pitch on a Twitter spaces, or a 150 character tweet about a piece of work or who I am? It's absolutely impossible to summarize all the depth put into what we do in such a short span.
I haven't liked watching artists get so competitive and cliquey and reactionary to each other in general. I don't want to be in 200 discords for everyone's projects. It is impossible for one human to digest all the info and know what is a scam or not. I don't want to be in 100 twitter group chats where if I say something wrong or someone just decides they don't like me I can get blocked and booted from a social tether and have to reel and figure out what to do next. I have personally played neutral in so many situations as to not get ousted from a social group, because I really want to bridge people all together. I have had to learn hard boundaries and not take on everyone's personal drama while also trying to lend a helping hand to build people up without them taking the rope and pulling me down. Others have done the same for me while going through my mental trials and dealing with learning all of this. The whole time I have dreamed there has to be a better way. Is this social avenue perfect? No. But it does solve a lot of issues I see.
Just being able to write out complete thoughts and know people will come to read them and digest them when they want to feels good. Or you can skim right past this too if you don't care. I missed this and I missed you all even if I have just met you.
