I don’t get emotional about literature much, but when I do, it’s over Jane Eyre’s ‘Do you think because I am poor, obscure, plain and little that I am soulless and heartless?’ speech. Charlotte Brontë wrote that for ugly girls everywhere.

The press going "this season of The Crown shows Charles's side of the story with sympathy" and the season opens on Charles droning on about how much it sucks to have a charismatic hot wife and then remembering that the guy he's talking to has a cancer-stricken child lmaoooo

You know what, i just finished watching tomorrow ep 14 and the whole drama just basically tells that women just have been mistreated in all of time. Koo ryeon herself is not a victim of sexual abuse but was harassed just because they had suspicions that during of her capture, the women was offering themselves as a way to go home which is not true. The sexual assault case, the comfort woman case, ryung-gu’s mom, the lady with the eating disorder and I personally feel horrifically there is some truth to this narrative.
Many comfort women back in the days felt ashamed for something they didn’t want to happen to them. They were silenced and had to live their live carrying their pain while the men who did horrible things to them got no punishment and until the Japanese government does not even acknowledge it .
Then for modern time, women are often scrutinized for the physical appearance. Whether they are thin, fat, pale or dark they are always comments about their body. And when dealing with sexual assault cases the woman is often blamed for wearing something too sexy or people would say ‘why was she w so late’. Often the people that should be punished heavily only gets light punishments and can walk out free with no worries.
In my opinion South Korea is definitely a country that still needs a lot of improvement in how they treat women. This drama is not perfect, sometimes they oversimplify the problems and don’t give very effective solutions in real life but I really appreciate how they treat their female characters.

i swear to god NOTHING makes me more pissed off then when everyone is like “oouheuehghoughough ough [thing] is so good it’s a classic you’ll love it” and they say it SO OFTEN that you resolve on principle to loathe [thing] with your entire being but when you actually get around to experiencing [thing] it literally IS That Good. physically trembling with rage at the fact that hamlet actually is one of the best plays ever written. DIE

anthony bridgerton has done a lot of unhinged things but by far the most unhinged thing he did was breathing in kate's scent so publicly and shamelessly and noticeably

No fan fiction, no problem! The Velvet Rope is 75% angst i*evil laugh*
sometimes I forget that TVR is a bridgerton fanfiction and it should not be so stern and dark, because it would be off with the rest of the lore. BUT my ocs and the other characters are litteral CLOWNS and always goof around each other so I must make them suffer a bit, because the plot is kind of heavy and I don't want the seriousness of it to come out of nowhere.
