au where lucy joins phantom lord instead of fairy tail (which she considered doing in canon). she kinda latches onto juvia since everyone else is really intimidating, and while juvia’s hesitant at first, they eventually grow close and lucy really helps to bring her out of her shell. she and gajeel develop an odd sort of friendship too, by extension. due to the environment she’s in, lucy grows stronger much quicker and must also develop a bit more of a serious, “tough” pesonality. when jude comes looking for her, jose is quick to betray her to him, and juvia and gajeel are forced to turn on lucy. only when they’ve fled to fairy tail does juvia realize just how much lucy means to her, and confesses her love to her.
