Scott Summers is actually the most character ever and underrated af. He is the gifted kid afraid of his burnout. He is a stressed out father figure. He is just a teenager. He is a depressed middle aged man. He is colour blind. He is bisexual for his angry and hairy coworker. He is carnally desired by the most powerful psychics of his universe. He is a leader. He is socially awkward. He is a stickler for the rules. He is wanted by multiple governments.. Like nobody is doing it like him.

This consistently delightful series finds a new way to delight me by bringing on the Japanese illustration duo known as Gurihiru, whose work I adore, for an issue that heavily focuses - neatly enough, given the most recent run of posts - on Dazzler.

Threats are made against Dazzler, Wolverine has to be her bodyguard for a while, and Kitty has to come along and stop them from tearing each others' eyes out. There's the embryo of a great Logan/Alison romance in this issue, obviously, but that's not the direction it ultimately goes for.

Instead, it's purely hijinks and fake-out threats.

Ultimately it turns out that the original threat - the word DIE had seemingly been painted in Dazzler's dressing room - really said PIE, and her manager's annoyed ex-boyfriend does, indeed, pie her.

That's it! That's the issue! It's a delight!

this is one of the less important details of bobby’s origin comic but… why did scott already have an x men costume? he was the only x man at the time. so that just makes him a single guy hanging around wearing black and yellow spandex and a visor. he was also wearing it before xavier told him to go collect bobby, which kind of implies he was just wearing it all the time. hard to say if that one’s on scott or xavier

(also, in warren’s origin they said avenging angel was around before the avengers, and this takes place before then, so superheroes weren’t really a thing yet. this is unrelated to any cultural norms around heroism that may or may not have existed)
