Of course it wasn’t the brawler. Maria shook her head, scolding herself internally for even thinking such a thing. Her friends were probably back in the All-Seeing Eye, crystallized as Pillars. The weight in her chest soon returned. A calamity such as what was unfolding before her eyes would have bee easier to take in if she were alongside them...If she was alongside Darwin. But no. She had to be alone. Independent. Strong. She’d focus her abilities however she could, whether it was healing the injured or protecting the weak. It was the least she could do.
“Ah, I’m so sorry. I thought you were a friend of mine by mistake.”
Oh, what to say now? Clearly, she had the woman’s undivided attention yet nothing to say. She stood there, frozen part in anxiety, part in fear.A ‘parallel’ being... that could mean anything. If she had the misfortune of interacting with the parallel version of whoever this was, wouldn’t it mean that they were seeking blood of the original denizens? The woman had a sort of calming exterior, once which helped to soothe the spellcaster’s heightened nerves.
“Are you part of the healing division? I was asked to help here as well... I-I’m Marie.”
She had all of her strength back, which let her protect others more effectively. She also had medical ars magus, allowing her to heal the injured. She was sure she was one of the few who truly cared about the well being of the NPCs, but she’d help anyone she could find.
She did so now, along with some other healers, in a blockaded area some called a shelter. The situation was looking dim, but she would not give up. There had to be a way to stop this conflict, some way that didn’t involve excess death. Once she’d finished tending to her current patient, she looked for her next. That’s when she met eyes with the woman who appeared to recognize her.
“… I’m sorry? Do you need something?” She asked, though it was clear the woman was reacting for a reason other than asking for aid. She’d said a name though, one that clearly wasn’t Litchi.
“Er, I think you’ve mistaken me for someone else, but…” Hopefully this didn’t escalate into something bad.

War had broken out in the city, something the young woman would have never expected. While dangers lurked the streets, there wasn’t really much that would have put her and others in immediate danger. Yet, here was her reality. Patching up those who had been injured by the parallel militia. If it wasn’t for the scientists permitting use of all of her abilities, she wouldn’t be of much help. She hesitated to use her more potent healing capabilities, however. There might be a time where they would mean a difference between life and death. She locked eyes with...no, wait.. it couldn’t be.
“Li...Li Hua?”
Impossible. At this moment, she didn’t care for what alliance the brawler was a part of. Until the figure began to approach her. She gripped her staff tightly, fearful that she had just caught the attention of a potential danger. This wasn’t her friend. Not at all.

Ruin took over the parallel spellcaster’s mind. All she could think about was how fast her Karma spell could burn the bodies of the innocent citizens of the non-parallel grounds. How dare they trap her somewhere like this. She’d see to it herself that the city burns and collapses, taking every godforsaken soul with it. First and foremost, she’d have to take care of her original self. The one that was too meek, too cowardly to do anything about her situation. Perhaps she’d get what she’d desire after all, considering that the original Marie was under the sole of her boot, crushing her shoulder.
Marie let out a cry of pain, terrified of what was going to happen. The scientist’s alert to all the citizens made her heart sink, horrified of the possibility of having to face a parallel version of herself. Complete disregard for the living, yet a strength the young woman wished to have. Would she die here...? At the mercy of herself? No. Her friends continued the fight against the Rite back in the All-Seeing Eye. She’d abandon them if she took death without a fight. With a struggle, Marie aimed her rod in her parallel’s center, releasing the spell Ruwach, blowing her away and giving Marie enough space to get up and run away. She had made it a good distance apart from her assailant, only to bump into someone who already had their hands full after finishing off a parallel soldier.
“Please... I beg of you. Please help me! I-I’m not sure how much longer until my copy finds me again. I’ll assist you however I can afterwards, and I’ll be forever grateful!”

due to the event, all non-event threads will be put on hold! so far i have plans to thread with litchi. if anyone else wants to thread w/ marie, drop me a line!
alternate!Marie will definitely be interesting. she will still be incredibly talented at the magic arts, yet utilizes her skills for nefarious purposes, relying more on her magic that causes harm rather than what heals. she harbors complete disregard for human life and gets a thrill from seeing any life extinguished. alternate!Marie will also have difference in physical appearance, so basically a darker opacity mannequin devoid of any emotion other than anger, arrogance, and wrath. her fear of being alone in the city is materialized into this being, who acts out in fear and the sheer instinct to survive.

After what seemed like hours of exploration, the spellcaster deemed the time appropriate to take a break. Exerting herself in a place like this was the foundation for trouble. She’d save her energy for an emergency. Anything could happen here. For part of her break, Marie decided to traverse the small stores in the area. Maybe with what little Oz she had, she could buy something sweet or perhaps some coffee.
There she was. Outside of a cafe, eyeing the goods they had. This was a refreshing change of scenery, considering that all that Piu Piu had for decor were his....girls. Those cutouts burned in her memory, never able to be etched away. If the little punk asked her to join his ‘harem’ one more time, she’d bury him under the large safe she always found the creature sitting on. Nevertheless, even Piu Piu would be a comforting sight.
Once the spellcaster had made her decision, she reached into her bag and...oh. Where was her money pouch?
“This is some sort of joke...right?”
As if on cue, a blonde woman had tapped Marie’s shoulder, presenting her with her missing pouch. Her eyes shone brightly, lips curling into a smile.
“Thank you so much! I didn’t realize that I dropped my Oz...It’s not an annoyance at all. There’s no need to apologize.”
levatiosanctus
It had relatively calm as of late.
Of course, the blonde could only figure it was a lull in between what the scientists were planning next for their citizens but regardless, the warrior seemed to enjoy it nonetheless. She could only hope and strive for a future where days like this were always possible, even in a place as strange as this… Or even better, for people to be able to go home to where they belong.
However, the female is snapped out of her thoughts for a moment, stopping in her tracks as a soft clatter causes her attention to be averted momentarily. Silver optics glancing down to the sidewalk a few yards in front of her, it was easy for her to see that a young woman had dropped an object and hadn’t noticed just yet. Taking it upon herself, the Claymore hastily picks up the lost object and jogs up to the other female, tapping her shoulder lightly.
“Sorry to bother you, but I saw that you dropped this, so…”

The city definitely had its outliers. So far, nearly all of those that Marie had encountered were approachable and all around caring. What point was there in starting a conflict anyways? All who inhabited the city were dragged from their homes to participate in this...whatever it was. If anything, they should be uniting their forces to combat whoever thought this ‘experiment’ was a good idea.
If Marie and her friends fought the Creator, they could fight another higher power again, right? She remembered how physically and mentally taxing their effort was but it was well worth it--hm? Ah, someone was staring at her. She turned, facing the strange man with an...odd headband that covered his ears. Was he even going to be able to hear Marie?
“Can I help you? Surely if you’re staring at me like that, you must want something.”

Exploration was key to fully get a grasp on the situation at hand. She had done her fair share of it while she had been kept against her will in the All-Seeing Eye. She had stumbled upon varying rooms, as well as the library, where she had burned her time with Lessica. Sure, she had been in there for research reasons, but there were times were she actually enjoyed learning about the past Rites. A bittersweet feeling really.
She hadn’t a clue which Sector her wandering soul had taken her, however. She never really had an acute sense of direction, much to her dismay. Figured it would be time to ask for a helping hand. As if on cue, she noticed the presence of another.
“Hello, would you mind telling me which Sector this is? I’m afraid I’ve wandered too far from where I know.”

The lush green of the Sector Marie had arrived in helped to soothe her shot nerves. She was slowly coming to terms with everything that had happened. By coming to terms, she meant... bottling everything in. She was alone here, in the city. There was no one here to comfort her. Every step she took sent tremors through her legs. She couldn’t tell if she was exhausted physically or emotionally.
Perhaps both. The spellcaster took it upon herself to rest on a nearby bench within a small park. The air was fresh, yet her lungs felt heavy. Thoughts began to scramble in her head, causing friction and inner conflict. Her gaze fell to her lap, her vision starting to blur.
“Am I really...all alone?”
Tears fell freely. What was she to do?

Memories began to rush back into the spellcaster’s mind. She had been here before. The sleek design of each and every building that loomed over her, as well as the freakish contraptions that sped through the streets. All of this wasn’t from her world, but she didn’t question upon her arrival. Because she had seen it before.
Speaking of those contraptions, she caught a look at a young teenager, restricted to a chair with wheels, looking to cross the street. Marie couldn’t just leave her there.
“Pardon me, do you need any help? This area seems really dangerous.”

That...wasn’t possible. The spellcaster’s memory was hazy though; perhaps this was just a misunderstanding on her part. She had yet to catch the attention of the knight before her but there was something about his armor that was off-putting. Ah, right. Marie couldn’t remember it so easily due to the fact that her life was hanging by a thread at that moment.
He looked like one of the Four Horsemen.
Not a word. She simply stared in the distance. Marie was curious to see what would happen.

Marie frowned and shook her head. She had just arrived in the city but...She couldn’t... Ah.Her hand shot up to hold her forehead once more, a tinge of pain attacking her senses. What was this pressing thought? No point in deciphering it now. She’d wait until she arrived at her residence. But there was something about the familiarity of it all...
“I’m afraid not... You see, I just arrived here as well. But I can’t seem to shake off the feeling that I think I’ve...been here before.”
Weird.
Smiles were indeed nice and something able to give everybody a spark of good mood and positiveness, and Wadanohara was indeed serene when seeing the person her mumbling attracted smiling back at her and being so gentle and understading –which was definitely rising the golden stars for the city.
« I truly appreciate your kindness, Miss Marie! I am Wadanohara, and it’s a pleasure to meet you –I suppose you have far more experience than me when it comes to stay in this place, don’t you? »

While it was dangerous to walk around the unknown with a stranger, Marie had very little choice. What was she going to do anyways; wait until her memories come back? The mage felt...off. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but there was something really important that she was forgetting.
The moment Wadanohara opened her mouth, Marie snapped out of her daze. She smiled at the witch, eager to help.
“I don’t find it troublesome at all. Sticking together might be the best idea anyways. I’m Marie, by the way.”
Hearing a gentle voice was indeed a blessing to her pointed ears and the little sea witch couldn’t help but let a wide, gentle smile appear on her lips, only making her confused expression even cuter.
« Yes, I’m sorry –this place doesn’t exactly seem safe, but I have to reach the District where I’ve been assigned apparently, and I can’t surely stand still and wait for the help to poof from the sky. I hope you don’t find it bothersome if I ask you if you could help me in this, miss. »

Oh...
What had happened? This wasn’t... Ah. The mage’s hand rose to her forehead, a pulsating pain resonating inside. Regardless of how disoriented Marie felt, she heard another voice from behind her. She could safely assume that the little witch wasn’t from here either,
“Are you not from here? I’m sorry to be a bother, but I don’t think wandering around here alone would be the safest option.”
Cue little witch looking around. And not liking indeed what she’s seeing.
« This… This can totally be a problem. »
