In my life I have only ever created five OCs (that I can remember off the top of my head).

When I was really little I had a nightmare about a giant belly that rolls around the city (like The Blob) eating people, but instead of the people screaming “help!” the belly yells “HELP!” in a booming voice. It is called the Help Belly.

Another one I made around that same time was called the Smash Mouth (yes, after the band. Can you imagine around what year this was?) and a Smash Mouth was another monster character that looked like if you were to take a pen on a piece of paper and draw the biggest, nastiest, thickest, and most absurd scribble, really hard onto the paper, then writing in a couple swear words and scribbling really hard over those so your parents can’t see them and you won’t get in trouble.

The next OC I remember making was in high school for my chemistry class. For some project, I don’t remember what, I made a booklet. This was after I became disaffected towards H*rry P*tter but still enchanted with the whole “magic school” concept, so I made up a magic school with predominantly gay and trans characters. The one I remember was named Parsley Flakes (I don’t know why she’s a spice if it’s a chemistry project- I don’t remember the relevance). She has big green curly hair, extremely thick round circle glasses with a blue tint (very poor eyesight), and she can be a little selfish at times. She is NOT a mom friend.

Another was my homestuck OC. The only time I ever created a character with “I’m creating an OC” in mind. I drew him so many times. I even held an art contest on my old instagram for people to draw him. I don’t think I ever named him. He was my trollsona. My name already conforms to the human naming scheme but I didn’t know what to add to my first name to make it fit the troll naming scheme. I do now, though! It doesn’t sound trollish, but another name I sometimes use for myself is Jasper, and that’s six letters.

Finally, there’s Kanyu. No, not KanYE, KanYU. He started as one of the randomly generated guys in my game of Virtual Villagers 2. For some reason, I don’t remember why, I really loved that guy. I was sad when he died, but he lived a long life and lived through it when my village was suffering. I liked to imagine he was real. In my mind, my inner monologue would refer to him as “my friend Kanyu” and I liked imagining how he would react to the world if I brought him from the remote fictional island of Isola to where I live and he shadowed me around each day. I thought about trying to manifest a tulpa of him. I think I was really lonely then.
