What do you know about the US consumption of Dietary Supplements? Lets find out about the basics!
From 2011 to 2015, the percentage of US adults who take dietary supplements has remained consistent at 68%.
84% of these US adults remain confident with their supplement use and plan on continuing to take them in coming years.
The dietary supplement industry is HUGE! According to The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) this industry contributes US$121.6 billion to the U.S. economy as well as creating over 750,00 jobs nationwide!

Does your generation line up with the current supplements you are taking? I am classified as “Generation Y” and I have taken multivitamins as well as supplements for sports nutrition.
It is always important to know the different types of supplements that are available for use and the ingredients that they may contain.

While some supplements can be viewed as “dangerous” or some think those who consume them are doing it for the wrong reasons, this infographic may say differently.
“For good reason” is why 54% of Americans consumer supplements in order to improve overall health and wellness benefits.

An industry that is growing at an extremely high rate is one that should not be ignored.
How do you think this market has grown exponentially while being relatively “young”?
Herbal supplements, according to the CRN 2015 survey, are consumed by about 26% of Americans who consumer supplements. Within that category, about 13% of Generation X takes a form of a “green tea” supplement. A younger generation very invested in a young market niche...intertesting.

So you want to feel healthier. It seems simple enough: Eat a balanced diet, get enough sleep and exercise, and maybe take a few supplements to speed the process along.
Or not.
Recent research has found that not only do these supplements most likely not help you slim down, bulk up, or be more energized — but they’re also harmful.
A large study from the federal government linked supplements — sold under brand names like Hydroxycut and Xenadrine — with 20,000 ER visits each year. Last year, the Department of Justice filed criminal and civil enforcement actions against 117 makers of these products.
So here are the supplements you should take — and the ones you should avoid:
