Verseau makes the fandom better because there aren't alot of black voices unfortunately and that really matters with a show like this aka the titular black vampire. No shade to nonblack writers but it's very obvious to me --a black fan-- when someone isnt black especially when they start talking about louis' culture or skintone and it's just too much. And to have a black author writing about a black character and having them be this beloved in this fandom is really new for me and it just makes me really happy. This fandom like many others tends to be dominated by nonblack voices and that can lead to constant "discourse" that is just thoroughly unpleasant for black fans to have to deal with day in and day out so to have Betsy @downstairsbar just doing her thing and doing it wonderfully is such a bright spot like having the most delicious slice of cheesecake after a shitty day at work. She's just in her yaoi factory whipping up the scrumptious desserts and sharing them with all of us and I love having her here with us 💖

Agree, agree, agree!! AMC's adaptation of IWTV is so good because of the transformative nature of the adaptation--because they chose to make Louis black, not in spite of this. So it's really important to have black creators in the fandom be celebrated because of the unique and beautiful perspective they bring to canon. To me, verseau is Thee loustat fic author, just like Louis is Thee vampire being interviewed, so I'm so glad people agree about her impact and how much she brightens up the fandom!

One thing that will always cheer me up is reading any of the Lestat POV chapters by verseau!! They’re so hilarious and just captures his personality so well. And I can actually imagine SamStat saying the dialogue. I think that’s such a great skill. Also, we get to see how Lestat sees Louis and that’s always a treat 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Agree! This is why I love sweet honey sticky sweet so much--it's such a fun and humorous characterization of Lestat that still, of course, manages to be an incredible and well-written take on Loustat, even as it's an alternate universe.

In my pinned, I talk about how one of my goals for this blog is to celebrate the fandom creators that make Lestat/Louis so fun beyond canon and I couldn't think of a better way to inaugurate this celebration than starting with our Loustat goddess, verseau (or @downstairsbar on here).

You can send asks directly to this blog, or make your own post/tweet with the hashtags #UnholyBNFs and #NightBelongsToVerseau about how much you like verseau and why--be detailed, be kind, and be thoughtful!

Talk about how much verseau's fics mean to you. Do you reread them often? How do you feel when verseau updates?

What makes verseau fics unique and special to you? Is it the characterization? Is it the humor? Is it the fun multi-media/social media inclusion?
