Something that's never really been clear in the show is how the Dupain-Cheng bakery and apartment is configured. Or rather, it's just way inconsistent and nonsensical. This is how I arranged the bakery for my rewrite:
First floor problems: There's no where near enough space for a fully functional kitchen of one of the best bakeries in Paris to exist. So that weird section of the first floor where Tom bakes and prepares goods? That's gonna be a store room (because I don't care how much room it LOOKS like there is, there is not that much space in this building). They keep food there to restock after rush hours and when it's less busy so there's always fresh goods ready to be bought. Now, the entire part of the bakery surrounded by windows is just tables and chairs, and the counter/shelves/all that.
Also, I'm pretty sure that back section I've highlighted is supposed to be just space for doorways and staircases, but fuck that. Without the extra space, there's literally no space for half of the stuff every functional apartment needs. So that part of the building is half stairway, half whatever-I-need-to-be-there.
Second floor problems: What is the second floor for? It can't be the main apartment, because that connects directly with Marinette's room. And it couldn't be her parent's room, because why would their room be completely separated from the rest of the living space? But it also has to be the apartment because we see that the door to the living area is on the second level.
So I figured I'd make that a second part of the bakery. This is where all of those industrial ovens and confectioner's ovens are, and where all of the hardware needed to run a bakery of that quality. Directly above the new storeroom is the ingredient "hoard." Several shelves with buckets of yeast and flour and sugar and everything Tom and Sabine needs.
Third floor problems: Where do Tom and Sabine sleep? Well, it literally took me several days, but I figured out a way to fit in a room for them! My thinking is that they gave Marinette the attic room, even though there's lot more space, because when she was younger, they worried about waking her up way too early if they had to sneak past her room.
So completely get rid of the weird, open staircase, and put one behind that door next to the kitchen area. That's how Mari gets to her room now. Tom and Sabine's closet is underneath the stairs, and the door to their room is right next to the entry door (also next to Marinette's new door, but on a different wall). Because my configuration of the "outside" stairs ends on the third floor, it only takes up a fraction of the space in that little building I've taken over, and the rest of that space is Tom and Sabine's room and bathroom.
Attic problems: No stupid trapdoor, Marinette gets an actual door at the bottom of her staircase, and at the top of the stairs is the door to her closet. On the other side of that wall (once you swing around the stairs) is her bathroom. That weird brick part on the outside is ALSO on the inside (what fourteen year old hasn't daydreamed about a brick accent wall?), and pretty much everything else about her room can stay the same. Except, I'm adding a ladder to the balcony that comes up from the side of her bed, because is she really supposed to like... jump on her bed and pull herself up there? I've never gotten that part of the design.

First look at our heroes, anyone?
Ladybug was scared. She’d been scared before, but never this new, life-or-death version of scared. One slip of her foot, a misplaced yoyo swing, the giant feet of the stone-turned Ivan. Any of it could mean the end, and Tikki said that she was their first line of defense. She had to be brave. Breathe in, breathe out. Jump.
Chat Noir was having the time of his life. Probably not a good thing, since there was a raging stone monster stomping around Paris and screaming at the top of his lungs. But that didn’t mean Chat couldn’t be happy over his newfound freedom! His sneak-outs had been months of planning wasted when Nathalie or his bodyguard intercepted him--finally there was a way to leave without being noticed!
Chat Noir had decided to make use of the steep rooftops and wide streets while following the stone man by balancing on his new silver staff when he heard a new scream, and a flying red blur coming straight towards him.

Miraculous: Les Défenseurs de Paris, PREVIEW #1
Marinette wasn’t that late. Sure, she was far from early, but maybe the inherent laziness of the holidays had gotten to her. Maybe she stayed up too late working on her designs, but by the time Marinette had left her parents’ bakery, she still had five minutes until class started, and the school was right across the street. She’d be fine. At least, she would if she didn’t try to stop any more traffic accidents.
Adrien had snuck out before, but never this early. The few times he’d try to sneak into the nearest school, it had been after Chloe had said classes started, but that had been on purpose. He was caught before he got to the school, but this time Adrien had left before the chef had started on breakfast. Nathalie had expected this, though. Of course she did.
Alya was early enough—she’d had to take her sisters to their school a few streets down, so she always left with plenty of time. From her seat she couldn’t see much, but Alya noticed Chloe and Sabrina glancing at the door too much for her liking. Alya narrowed her eyes. Winter break had meant she and Marinette had gotten two weeks away from Chloes antics, which was good, but it also left their notorious bully two weeks to plan something truly awful. She was on guard the entire day, even after Marinette rushed into class and joined her at their table—and she didn’t relax until she noticed Chloe’s disappointed slump grow as the day passed.
Nino hated his new seat. From the front of the room, Madame Bustier could make sure he wasn’t listening to any music, and she could tell whether he was writing out school notes or music notes. Maybe his luck had run out. More likely, his parents had talked to Bustier over break. His grades had, admittedly, improved since the seat switch, but that didn’t mean he had to like it. And he didn’t even have a seatmate to distract him during class! Totally unfair.
Chloe had done a good job of keeping the excitement off of her face—it was her enthusiasm that had tipped off Nathalie last time, after all. No one could know Adrien was coming today until he was already here. It was the perfect plan. Maybe all of her energy was spent from keeping her happiness from showing, because as each class went by and Adrien hadn’t shown up, she couldn’t help but shrink down into her seat. She couldn’t even pretend to act disinterested. She was just sad.
