Louis looked at the blond man with sad eyes as he sensed the sadness in the other’s eyes. His beloved mother, Queen Anne, was ill, retreated to the convent. “I am aware of your feeling, monsieur. My mother would love to be here with us as well. Her Majesty had to retire to the convent.”
He didnt know how it was like for the mothers who had to get their home ready for their children , for he has always been surrounded by servants, but he was sure that all the mothers made their best for their children, even when things didn’t look like that.
“We have enough wine for our guests, here, monsier.“ he smiled with a nod of his head. With a gesture of his hand, he showed him the goblets and all the wine on the table. A servant approached serving them both with wine. “Here is our servant. Cheers, monsieur,“

The King smiled thankfully for the young woman’s words. The thought of God looking upon him as well gave him a good feeling. “The Queen needs some more care. I would like you to take care of her, madame.” the King told her as she curtsied.

The other’s bow was welcome. The King offered the other man a smile. The Twelve Days of Christmas were for the entire court. The Christmas Day , which was the most important, was for the King, his family and closest friends. They would leave to Fontainebleau for a more private celebration. The others could stay at Versailles.
“... Monsieur, we had plans even for months. Christmas at Versailles can’t be planned just in a few days... it takes months. “ The King smiled at the other man’s words. “It is going as it’s been planned. You already saw every detail, in the gardens , in this room, didn’t you? For tonight, we have some ballet and theater plays.“ he was well aware that Versailles was a perfect place to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Back in time again. This was starting to become a common occurance and it was starting to irk Steve no end.
It seemed at though he’d landed in France this time, and boy was he ever grateful for his eidetic memory and his war time French. Without it he’d have been completely at sea rather than just mostly.
The time difference always made things harder, lingo changed, rules for languages and etiquette we’re always evolving. If he could stay out of trouble and out of anywhere that was historically important he’d be alright.
He’d never been that lucky.
He’d managed to get clothes, shoes and store his own things away but it seemed strong backs were always in need at the palace currently being built. And so away to Versailles he went. Helping wherever he was directed to and trying to blend in.
He didn’t hold out much hope for it, at six foot four, more muscular and well fed than any man he’d seen thus far he stuck out like a sore thumb.

“France is wide and great, I assume that there are people who are alike. But you, madame, you do remind me of Queen Mother Anne in her years of youth.“ The King responded to her, opening his arms in a fine gesture. “In other words... are there any news, madame?” Louis questioned.

“We’re wishing you a very Merry Christmas as well, monsieur.“ Louis told the new man in front of him as he bowed in front of him, showing his respect, a smile on the corner of his lips. He knew the most people who were present in the room, still there were a few new people. The King noticed the other’s accent. He couldn’t tell where the other man was coming from. “We have some one so you can get warm aftet the travel in the snow, monsieur.” he told him, gesturing towards the long table.

Louis nodded his head, his blue eyes still sparkling. He even chuckled for a bit. “I didn’t get upset, Mademoiselle. There are words who surprised me. Words only my mother dared to tell me so firmly. ” Looking at her for longer moments, he remembered his mother in the years of her youth. They were surprisingly alike. “Mother used to tell me that when something important came up. What is it I need to know of?”

“You must understand the duty is what comes first” Crystal spoke with a serious expression on her face.

It was a lovely December afternoon. The ground was white, snowflakes were slowly falling down over the Versailles and its gardens. The indoors were warm, full of light . There was a Christmas celebration. One of those many Christmas celebrations at the French court. Ambassadors, princes, princesses, dukes, duchesses from other countries were at Versailles that year. Louis had a long speech about Versailles, the main events of the year and many wishes for Christmas. He was clothed in golden fabrics , his dark hair fading over his shoulders. When he finished his speech, he made a sign with his hand, the musicians started their music, ladies and gentlemen started dancing . Louis’ attention was captured by a tall figure with muscular built, blond hair, blue eyes. “Bonsoir, monsieur“ the King of France greeted the stranger. By the other’s built, Louis could think that he was a soldier.

Louis raised an eyebrow as Philippe requested him to give him a maximum budget. He didn’t trust that the Chevalier wouldn’t do that anymore. “As a King, I am in the best rights to consider which amount of money you deserve, my brother. I always look nice, there is no doubt about it. I have the strong belief that you always look nice as well, Philippe.”

The King was thankful to the woman for saving the Queen’s life. He closed her hand with his, letting her know that she could keep the coins for herself. “Keep in mind that we can do great things as humans, but only God can do miracles. You had the help of God, madame.” Louis commented as she smiled at him.

He couldn’t say that she was just a fine woman. Louise was the woman he fell in love with , he knew that if she didn’t make that foolish gesture that day she decided to get on a silly competition with the Queen, she would be still at court for long time. The King walked with her down the gardens. “Your mother was more than a fine woman. We fell in love with each other, she offered me all the love and children. Your Mother offered me beautiful days and consolation in the dark hours. It is not easy to describe such things in words. ”he new that if he wasn’t King he wouldn’t distance himself from Louise. Marie’s question was unexpected , but Louis had patience. He knew that she was mature enough to understand some matters.
marie immediately lit up when he described her mother and made a mental note to remember carmelite convent. maybe she could go there, even if it was not possible at all. she just, for once, wanted to see her mother. once in her life. see for herself if they looked alike. a girl could dream once in a while, could they not. she knew about her siblings, it was hard but she had to pull through it, like any other day. “ so, madame mother was a fine woman, right? ” marie had a big heart, so the quesgion was a little sudden maybe but apart from the things she did with the king, obviously otherwise she would not exist. yet marie wasn’t better, she has had an affair with her husband’s brother so it did not really count did it. her hands were together in front of her chest as she fell quiet again, walking next to her father.

The King offered Louise a small smile. If was all he could do for the moment, as she thanked him for his gesture. He wished that Louise would find in him the pillar she needed, even in the darkest hours. He nodded his head at Louise’s question. “I will stay tonight, Louise. It won’t come back because I am here, with you. Just think of beautiful things” The King squeezed her arm with his hand ,willing her to feel safe in his arms.
hey, i’ve got you. it’s okay. ’ (Louise)

sometimes people did terrible things, sometimes to hurt others, sometimes to scare them, sometimes it were terrible dreams. she was sure it was because of the sins she had comitted with a married man, yet why would it mean they would hurt him if it was her fault. however, she did not expect to wake up in arms, that were to familiar to be embraced in, so warm and safe, she had not expected him at all tonight so she had gone to bed, a cruel migraine torturing her as she looked for peace and quiet and found that in her chambers. it was when that dream crept upon her, making her toss and turn, making her cry out of fear and sadness, out of horror of witnessing such a crime when she woke to a soft voice, which made it worse when she saw his face. just more tears escaped the tired eyes of hersas she clung to him not wanting to let him go out of fear something would happen to him.
