Manipulative Characters in Roleplays

I’ve kind of always wanted to write this rant, so here we go:

You know when there’s that character in the RP whose bio says that he’s supposed to be ‘manipulative’ and ‘sly’ and really good at reading people and clever and stuff?

Those characters are supposed to be brilliant puppet-masters, and they’re supposed to be able to manipulate other characters. The admins wrote that character that way for a reason, and the person playing the character should have the liberty to use their character in a realistic way. So when you’re playing against a character like that, don’t have your character guess the manipulative/secretive character’s motives just because you want the ‘good guys’ to win. Especially if you’re playing someone who’s supposed to be easily manipulated.

sorry it’s been a hot minute, y’all !!!  school / finals had me hella swamped but i’m getting back into the swing of things.  i’m thinking about maybe adding another d&d oc here as well as just getting back into the swing of writing everyone else so...  idk if y’all will be interested in my changeling cleric lad, but if you are letting me know would be awesome!  i’ll probably post a starter call later today / this week

hey  guys ! ! !  sorry  about  the  super  low  activity  on  this  blog.  i  do  want  to  be  active  here,  but  hyperfixation  has  taken  over  my  brain  completely  and  i’ve  been  completely  devoted  to  my  when  they  cry  blogs.  so,  if  you  want  to  keep  interacting/writing  with  me,  i’d  appreciate  if  you’d  follow  me  HERE,  HERE,  and  HERE.  i  don’t  really  get  much  activity  there,  so  i  figured  i’d  make  a  post  here  letting  everyone  know  where  i’ve  been.  of  course,  i’ll  still  be  writing  here,  but  only  when  muse  returns  to  me.  i’d  call  this  blog  low  activity  to  the  point  where  i  might  put  it  on  a  semi-hiatus,  but  i’m  not  gonna  do  that  just  yet.

so...  yeah.  that’s  it.  please  indulge  my  dumb  wtc  fixation  haha.

          she  really  hadn’t  PLANNED  on  drawing  today ,  she  always  kept  the  sketchbook  on  her  in  case  a  time  such  as  this  came  up.  maybe  not  THIS  specifically ,  but  a  chance  she  would  get  to  tease  him  about  teaching  her.  and  also  maybe  the  book  held  some  sentimental  value  too ,  not  that  he  needs  to  know  that. 

          when  an  agreement  is  finally  made ,  that  cold  exterior  she  was  putting  off  slowly  MELTS  away.  letting  out  a  quiet  sigh ,  she  flips  through  the  pages  of  her  sketchbook ,  briefly  reminiscing  on  her  previous  sketches  from  their  trip  to  the  zoo.  she  smiles ,  it’s  small  but  she  can’t  help  but  suddenly  feel  LIGHTER  just  thinking  about  that  day. 

          just  right  when  she’s  about  to  bring  her  own  pencil  to  paper ,  she  stops  at  the  nervous  tone  of  his  voice ,  looking  up  just  in  time  to  catch  a  glimpses  of  what  she’s  pretty  sure  was  the  hint  of  red.  a  hand  quickly  comes  up  to  muffle  her  LAUGH  as  she  watches  him  twitch ,  trying  hard  to  keep  it  to herself.  

          she  manages  to  keep  it  together ,  she’s  sure  she’ll  get  another  chance  to  TEASE  him  about  it  another  time.  nagatoro  was  smiling  now ,  he’d  managed  to  flip  her  mood  like  a  switch. 

          “    it’s  why  i  pulled  this  out.    ”    she  holds  up  her  sketchbook ,    “    i  was  thinking  about  trying  to  draw  a  FIVE - TOED  SLOTH  again.    ”    that  one  doesn’t  count  right    ?

                       ‶  o - oh !  well . . .  if ---  if  you  want  to !  ″  he  averts  his  gaze ,  but  he  can’t  hide  his  smile .  he  remembers  their  trip  to  the  zoo . . .  it  was  a  really  fond  memory .  if  you  told  him  when  he  first  met  nagatoro  that  he  would  have  a  lot  of  enjoyable  memories  with  her ,  he  probably  wouldn’t  believe  it .  but  now . . .

                       naoto  was  going  to  offer  for  her  to  draw  the  same  still  life  as  him ,  but  he  knows  that  she  finds  those  things  a  bit  boring .  besides ,  her  saying  she  wanted  to  draw  him  managed  to  get  him  flustered  enough  to  loose  confidence  in  his  ability  to  articulate  that .

                       he  is  certain  that  if  he  hadn’t  gotten  her  to  agree  to  not  bully  him  for  an  hour  she  would  be  having  a  field  day  teasing  him  right  now .

                       the  teen  takes  in  a  breath ,  calming  himself ,  then  puts  his  pencil  to  the  paper .  his  gaze  focused  on  the  still  life  he  had  set  up  earlier .  first  get  the  basic  shapes  down . . .  he  can  focus  on  properly  contouring  when  he’s  accurately  gotten  everything  placed  where  it  should  be  relative  to  teach  other .  as  he  draws ,  he  grows  quiet ,  engrossed  in  his  work .

                       ‶  LIZZIE ! ! !  ″  he’d  recognize  that  scream  anywhere ,  rounding  the  corner  to  witness  the  scene  take  place .  he’s  sure  he  already  knows  the  culprit ,  but  there  was  a  higher  priority  to  attend  to  before  he  could  curse  the  ex - fourth  grade  president .

                       he  races  down  the  hall ,  ignoring  the  other  students  that  got  caught  up  in  the  blast  for  the  time  being .  they  weren’t  in  the  very  center  of  it  all ,  so  some  of  them  have  already  managed  to  get  themselves  out  from  under  the  flowery  mess .  once  he  reaches  the  girl’s  locker ,  he  begins  digging  around  for  her ,  shoveling  roses  out  of  the  way  with  his  hands  ( jeez ,  how many roses did he get her ? !  a bajillion ? ) .

                       eventually ,  he  finds  her  arm ,  pulling  her  out  from  underneath  the  mountain  of  roses .  instantly  she’s  pulled  into  his  arms ,  embracing  her  for  a  brief  period  before  pulling  back ,  placing  his  hands  on  each  of  her  shoulders  and  looking  her  over .  ‶  are  you  okay ?  you’re  not  hurt  or  anything ,  are  you ?  ″

i  feel  like  we  could’ve  gotten  so  much  more  conflict / tension  with  emma & ray  fighting  against  his  plans  and  i  want  to  write  out  all  that  angst

cover  the  whole  norman  /literally deteriorating/  thing  because  that  was  super  glossed  over  and  even  though  adam  was  the  key  to  a  cure  i  feel  like  we  didn’t  cover  it  extensively .  creating  an  antidote  takes  a  while ,  okay ?
