percy: oka- wait, are you wearing my jacket?
annabeth, stabbing a gorgon: …maybe
percy, slicing a serpent in half: i’ve been looking for that!
annabeth, rolling and knocking empousi off their feet and stabbing them: it’s big and warm and smells like you. i was cold and needed something to wear. so this is what i grabbed.
percy, chuckling as he strangles an ogre: i’m okay with that
annabeth, stabbing basilisks: good, because i’m keeping it
percy, smashing two cyclops faces into the floor: it looks better on you anyway
annabeth, decapitates a chimera: *winks at him*
percy, casually lighting a hydra on fire and giving her a crooked smile: you know, i was thinking for tonight-
leo, across the room covered in monster blood and fighting for his life: GUYS PLEASE-

Things my classics professor has said about the Greek gods:
- Let’s just say Hera was not a girls girl
- Just because you’re faced with a minor inconvenience doesn’t mean you should swallow your wife (Zeus)
- Was Athena the original pick me girl? I’ll leave that up to you
- Now I’m not saying you should all go castrate your husbands, but we don’t judge Gaia okay?
- Leave him (Hermes) alone he’s just trying to play his lyre and steal some cows
- Athena is who Ares thinks he is
- Okay maybe sending the entire world into a famine was a lot, but also consider that maybe Zeus needed to fuck around and find out (about Demeter)
- Apollo is condoning murder six ways from Sunday
- It’s not Apollo’s fault that his sister is cooler

30 Days of Deity Devotion
Day 7: Names and Epithets of Athena
Name Variations
"Athena" is the name most well known to us today, but she was known by other names also. In epic she was Athenaiē, shortened to Athene. The Doric form was Athana, Aeolic Athanaa, and Attic Athenaia which shortened to "Athena" and became commonly used in the fourth century BCE.
Epithets
Alalkomene - "The Defender"
Alea - Supposedly "Protectress" or "Refuge" but most resources I have found point to syncretization with a local goddess at Alea, Mantineia and Tegea.
Amboulia - "Of Counsel," or "Counsellor"
Areia - "Warlike"
Boarmia - "Yoker of oxen" - Refers to her invention of the plough
Ergane - "The Worker," "Craftswoman"
Glaukôpis - "Owl-eyed," "Bright-eyed," "With flashing eyes," "Blue/Grey-Eyed." Having eyes with a bright, shining quality.
Hephaistia - Used in the context of the Khalkeia festival which honors crafts and artisans, in which both Athenavand Hephaistos were honored.
Hippia - "Of horses"
Hygeia - "Health," "Cleanliness"
Khalinitis - "Of the Bridle" - Refering to her invention of the bridle and having tamed Pegasos.
Kissaia - "Of the Ivy"
Makhanitis - "Contriver (of plans and devices)," "Inventor"
Nike - "Victory"
Ophthalmitis - "Of the eyes"
Paiônia - "Healer"
Pallas - Various meanings and origins are attached to this epithet. It may refer to a childhood friend she accidentally killed. It may refer to a giant she had slain and worn the skin of. Pallas could be derived from the word pállō (πάλλω) which means "to brandish (as a weapon)", or from pallakís (παλλακίς) meaning "youth, young woman." As I understand, it is more often refered to as meaning the latter.
Parthenos - "The Virgin"
Polias - "Of the City"
Polymetis - "Wise/Cunning in many ways"
Promakhos - "The Champion"
Pronoia - "Foresight"
Soteira - "Saviour"
Xenia - "Of Hospitality," "Of the foreigner"

I just read an article that said Ares was tge most pathetic greek god.
Let me get that straight.
Ares was the only male greek god that never raped or sexually assaulted any woman in his immortal life.
Ares was the patron god of the Amazons. A feminist community of female warriors was protected by him. Amazons were his loyal daughters.
Ares slew his daughter's rapist and was tried before all of the other gods for homicide.
Ares was the only male greek god that never viewed Aphrodite as a temporary lover, he respected her and loved her for who she was.
Zeus called Ares a double-faced liar just because he didn't agree with his nature and allowed Athena to hurt him.
Ares forgave Cadmos for slewing his child and married him off to hid daughter Harmonia.
Ares freed Thanatos from the chains Sisyphus put him.
Ares was the first god to protect Olympus from Otus and Ephialtes, but when he was trapped by them no other god went to free him.
According to Nonus in Dionysiaca, Ares allows Deimos and Phobos to help Zeus defeat Typhon.
Ares was the god of masculinity, civil order and a fighter for righteousness, referred as the Ally of Themis.
He always stepped in to help his children. He even went as far to disobey Zeus so that he could save his children from danger.
And Ares is pathetic! Like really?
The only argument of his "pathetic" nature was because he lost to Athena. A war isn't meant to always be won. There are the winners and the defeated. He may have been defeated in war but in his life he was a winner, because he faught for what he loved the most with insane ferocity!
Be for fucking real guys!

summary:
“Achilles?” Patroclus asks.
“Hmm?” Clarisse looks over at Silena.
“Do you think… in another life, are we still lovers?”
Clarisse smiles, the soft, genuine kind only reserved for Silena. “Of course we are. In every one; I’ll love you in every life.”
“You think so?” Patroclus asks, letting his head rest on Achilles’ shoulder.
“I know so,” Clarisse says.

these parallels terrify the hell out of me the fact that both silena and patroclus died in their lovers armour and the way achilles and clarisse were ready to go through hell for their revenge...

paimon: what?
traveller: i mean, with that amount of tension? either that or they absoultely hate each other. it's the only explanation
