This Thursday, I gotta throw it waaaayy back. To a day in 5th grade when rather than taking us to school, mom took us to the zoo instead. I can't remember what in the world Noma was wearing on the bottom but apparently it was embarrassing enough to cause him to Sharpie it out of everyone's memory. Bitch looks happy as shit though, haha. And Eta has CompoundW band aids on his lips for warts. This was an unusual day, but we loved it. It was during one of the times that we were homeless as a family. Showers at the beach, dropping dad off to work, then mom would take us to school. We'd get out in the afternoon and hang out at the park with mom until it was time to pick up dad from work. Park at dad's work, sleep, repeat. But on this very day, we were lucky enough to go to the zoo. I remember it feeling reeeeaaaally weird that we were going to the zoo, but it was okay because mom let us miss school. She made us promise that if we all go in, we can't get hungry. We were hella excited, but that ended up being a promise that we couldn't keep in the end. It was fun and all until we got hungry, and then mom got mad. She yelled and reminded us of the promise we made, and "aren't we having fun!?" She made us all leave, and that was it for the zoo. When we got back to the car, she was crying. Frustrated.... Looking back now, I don't know how my mom did it. How she managed to make all the stupid ends meet. And how, even without the proper money to give us food for a day-trip like this, she still had a mother's heart to try to replace some of the blue feeling of rock bottom with the sense of adventure and learning new things. I'll never forget this day, and this act of love. Your mom is probably cool and all, but... Mine could probably whoop her ass. #throwbackthursday #iloveyoumom

If I ever offend you or your culture
Politely have a conversation with me about it.
Educate me.
I know my struggles I would never intentionally disrespect yours.
I love to know the history behind words and culture that I never knew before, it never has to be an offensive conversation that gets neither of us no where.
We are all ignorant to something, but it doesn’t have to start a war.
