Snowed In
prompt (from @love-me-a-good-prompt) - “Person A and Person B were supposed to go out for a date but a snow storm hits and they get snowed in. Person A is really sad about it so Person B builds them a blanket fort so they can spend the evening snuggling and watching Christmas movies together.”
pairing: bucky x reader
warnings: swearing
word count: ~400
a/n: Idc what yall say, its christmas time bitches!
---
“This night is ruined, I was so excited to go out with you. I missed you and I was looking forward to this all week. Of course it had to fucking snowstorm!” You ranted, steam practically spewing from your ears. You paced around the apartment in anger.
“Doll, doll its okay” Bucky responded in a calm tone, sitting on the couch and running his hands through his hair. No matter how he tried to hide it, you could tell he was disappointed too.
“But puppyyyyy, I want to take you to a fancy restaurant and kiss you in the snow” Anger melted into sadness, and your sadness made way for a begging tone as if Bucky was in charge of the weather.
“You can still kiss me, and take me to a fancy restaurant later” Bucky replied, a small smile forming on his features.
“I will kiss you everyday but I want to kiss you outside in the snow. You know, like in the movies” You made pouty eyes to him, moving to sit next to him on the couch.
“You need to stop watching hallmark movies” He moved his head closer to yours, looking at your lips.
“You just ruined the moment. I never have and I never will watch a hallmark Christmas movie thank you very much.” A sassy tone coated your words as you scooted away from him.
“Get back here” Pulling you close to him, he laid a kiss to your cheek.
“I appreciate the kiss but that doesn’t fix the weather” You pouted again, pulling him closer and wrapping your arms around his neck.
“How about we watch some Christmas movies. I know you like those” His tone full of hope that that would be okay.
“Yes, that sounds amazing. Do we have the Grinch?” A small smile lit up your face.
“I think we do” Bucky’s hand reached for the tv remote. You pulled yourself closer still until you were comfortable.
The soft glow of the tv contrasted against the almost set sun shining in from the window. An old voice came from the TV as the classic animation of the movie started. If you knew your cancelled date would lead to a soft night in, you would have just skipped the date in the beginning.
“Thank you, Bucky.” You said in a soft voice.
“For what?” He gazed down to where your head was laid against his chest.
“For everything” You said, placing a feather soft kiss on his lips.

High Heels
summary: date night makes you feel hot asf. thats it. self confidence because everyone should feel sexy in a good outfit
pairings: steve rogers x reader
warnings: none
word count: ~570
a/n: this whole thing sounds really stupid, lmfao. sorry.
---
You crossed your arms around your middle, awaiting the elevator door to open after a too long ride. You were excited to see Steve and even more excited to spend time together. He was very dedicated to his job, and you had somehow managed to convince him that he needed a break. It had been so long since you had a good excuse to whisk him away from his work anyways.
As the elevator reached the designated floor, you did a once-over of yourself in the slightly reflective metal of the elevator door. A small black cocktail dress hugged your figure just right. Gold detailing around the neckline made you feel like you were worth much more money than you actually were. Your matching black high heels added some height to your figure, making your legs seem longer. In fact, the heels were your favorite part of the outfit. Simply put, you looked good and you felt good.
The elevator dinged, and the doors opened revealing the open living area of the avengers compound. Immediately, the sounds of talking and laughter filled your ears. You stepped out with your heels clacking loudly as you walked. Navigating confidently to the kitchen, you walked with your head held high. You practically oozed confidence.
“Wow. You look good” Wanda’s voice filled your ears, and her eyes met yours. Everyone seemed to stop talking to turn to look at you.
“Thank you, Wanda” You replied, talking assertively. Keeping your chin help high, you let your body swell with warmth.
“Hey, by the way where is Steve?” You asked aloud. You head turned, and searched the open common space.
“Hmm, I haven’t seen him recently” The comforting way Wanda talked almost distracted you from your purpose.
“Okay, thanks.” You said, swiveling around on the thick heel of your high heels. You walked across the room and down a well lit hallway. The familiar feeling of butterflies in your stomach ignited as soon as you saw Steve’s thick wooden door.
Marching down the hallway, you stopped in front of his door. You knuckle was on the door before you could even recognize what you were doing. After 5 knocks, you heard shuffling of footsteps. The shuffling sound got closer and the door lever twisted downwards. The door opened and Steve’s god-like body was standing in the doorway.
You felt Steve's eyes travel down your body and from his expression you surmised that he was pleased. His eyes lit up, and a smile graced his features.
“You look gorgeous, doll.” The words echoed in your ear and set warmth throughout your body. He pulled you closer to him, and admired everything about you.
You debated with yourself id you wanted to reply with a cocky “I know” but a small “Thank you” slipped through your lips.
You took a step back and noticed the suit that Steve had decided to wear. It was a classic navy blue suit jacket with matching pants. Although you had seen it on about every guy, something about how Steve wore it was just different. He seemed to make it look new and fashionable, and like something no one else could do.
“You look great, baby” You said, catching his gorgeous blue eyes.
“You look better” He replied, pulling you into a warm hug.
“Oh shut up” You took his hand, and pulled him down the hallway toward the door. You were so excited for this date.

November
summary: concept, romanticized fall evenings in an all-too-familiar cafe. also, a confession of love.
warnings: none really - fluff to be expected
word count:~550
a/n: its almost fall babey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy this bc i live in my daydreams n this thought occupies my mind all day. As usual, it starts strong and ends weak
---
Emerging from the back of your aunt’s cutesy cafe, you carried two steaming mugs of hot chocolate dressed with almost too much whipped cream and marshmallows galore. You were proud of your creation, and even more excited to see the look on Bucky’s face.
Setting down the mugs without incident, you were positively beaming. You sat  down across from him. The sweet scent of cocoa and cinnamon mingled together as if they were meant to be. Steam from the cocoa wafted up, warming your slightly pink cheeks as you escaped from the cool fall air around you.
“Wow, you really have a knack for presentation” Bucky said, a sweet grin adorning his already beautiful features.
“Thank you. I made it with love.” You almost whispered in response, your eyes nearly dilating every time you caught sight of him.
“Well, thank you doll. It looks delicious” He replied, looking into your eyes for a second too long.
You wrapped your fingers around the mug and brought it up to your face. Taking a sip, the rich drink filled your senses with chocolate and good memories. The warmth of the cocoa seemed to compliment the low candlelight in the building.
An “Mmm” from Bucky seemed to snap you out of your trance. A small bit of whipped cream left on his top lip brought out a small giggle from you.
“What? Is something wrong?” He asked, eyes finding yours.
“On your lip” You handed him a napkin, your hands found his easily.
“Oh, thank you” He said through a chuckle, wiping away the stray food.
For some reason, since you developed feelings with him it had been difficult to make eye contact with him. Being with him made you shy, and the opposite of the outgoing person you usually were. Unfortunately, he caught onto this almost immediately.
Ever since then, you had grown close to each other. You two spent a lot of time together, but you were afraid he just saw you as a friend. You weren’t as quick to catch onto his flirty antics as he was to you.
“Thank you for everything, Bucky” Your words coming out of nowhere.
“What do you mean?” He tilted his head slightly, his eyes tempting yours.
“I don’t know. I don’t know how to explain it. Like, thanks for hanging out with me.” Trying not to fumble over your words, you spoke slowly.
“Of course I like being with you. Why wouldn’t I?” He reached for your hands, taking his in yours. As his thumb roamed over your hand, you prayed that he didn’t feel your palms start to sweat.
“No, its not like that.” He looked at you with curiosity. “Its like, I have feelings for you.” He seemed to think for a moment as he processed your words. You couldn’t make out his expression, but you knew something changed.
“Doll, I know.” He responded with a wink, letting your hand go.
“You do? Oh.” You pulled back into your chair, your figure shrinking down. A tinge of sadness ebbed at your mind, disappointed in his response.
“Would you let me take you out on a date- a proper one?” He asked, leaning toward your figure.
“Huh?” Your head snapped up to look at him in confusion.
“Let me take you out, let’s do it right.”
“I mean, yes. Yes I would like that.” Your mouth quirked up forming a cheeky grin.

summary: being with peter is always fun and easy
pairing: peter parker x reader
warnings: none, just fluff
word count: 585
a/n: I finally wrote something within a day. Are y’all proud yet?
---
Warm grass surrounded your feet in the sunny lawn of a vacation home you had been staying at for the last week. The beautiful scenery around you swam in your head as pictures and paintings.  The weight of Peter’s head on your lap grounded you from falling into sugary daydreams.
Your hands in his soft hair and his fluttering eyelashes felt sweet like honey on your tongue. Every time you were with him, you never could seem to get rid of the smile on your face and blush on your cheeks. Love songs in your head sang of the surreal smitten feeling you gained every time you were around him.
You bent over slightly, and planted a kiss on Peter’s forehead. His eyes open with pupils dilated, he grunted out a small happy note.
“Don’t fall asleep here, baby” You cooed out to him, watching the sun cast beautiful shadows against his face.
“I won’t” He replied not very confidently.
He sat up so that his body was parallel to yours. Grabbing your hand and pulling you up from where you were sitting, he muttered “Come with me”. You protested slightly, setting the phone on your hand down onto the soft picnic blanket you two were stretched out on earlier.
Grabbing your hand, he led you along a small stone path hidden at the side of the property.
“Where are you taking me, Parker?” You asked with the barest hint of confusion in your voice.
“You’ll see.” You rolled your eyes at his reply, not that he say them since he was ahead of you and very nearly dragging you by your hand behind him.
Passing through a small area of trees, he took you on a path that you had guessed not been traveled for a good amount of time. The sun shone through the trees lighting everything a hazy golden, and cicadas sang loudly in joy.
“You’re gonna love it” He said through a coy smile, continuing to lead you in between and over wild green plants.
“Okay, but if I come into contact with poison ivy, I won’t hold back my complaints” He chuckled soft at your words, squeezing your hand in reassurance.
“We probably wont get poison ivy” Sending you a reassuring glance, he kept trekking ahead.
You continued on your adventure, walking up the side of a hill. Peter walked decently fast, and never seemed to slow down. Sometimes you would have to jog slightly faster to keep up with him.
"Do you see it yet?" He asked, looking back at you, as if to make sure you were still behind him.
"I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for" A small giggle escaped your lips with your words.
"If you don't see it now, you'll know what it is soon."
Taking another few steps, you caught sight of a small river that looked like it could be a mountain stream. Turning around to face you, Peter's radiant smile seemed to brighten up the sky.
"Wow. It's so pretty" Making eye contact with him, you leaned in and exchanged a sweet kiss.
"I found this last night when you were asleep. I saw this and thought of you, you know-  because it's pretty and you're pretty" He said, a sparkle in his eyes igniting butterflies in your stomach.
"Thank you, Pete." You said, grabbing his hands and sitting near the bank of the river.
Exchanging excited glances, you knew this would end with you two in the water.

missed connections
a/n: this was supposed to be different, I’m not particularly proud of this, but it is what it is. It took me so long to write so I’ll be posting it anyways.
summary: Having Steve gone on missions so frequently has always left you blue.
pairing: Steve rogers x reader
WARNINGS: angst, depression and anxiety, and also fluff at the end
word count: ~1.5k
----
A steady knocking woke you from a fitful sleep. Looking around your room in a daze, you peered at the digital alarm clock hiding behind a few bottles of water on your nightstand. Your eyes strained to make out 7 p.m. illuminating an angry red color through the darkness. The once consistent knocking on your door paused for a few moments as if to decide if the person should be there before it started again. You silently wished it would go away and that you could go back to sleep. After what seemed like forever to you, the person behind the door gave up on knocking and decided on just opening the door.
It has been almost two weeks since most of the other avengers had gone on their mission. You missed Steve more than you cared to tell anyone. Since then, the avengers tower had been sullenly quiet, and the few that were here always seemed to leave you in the tower alone. The stress of your everyday life and responsibilities only seemed to intensify the worry you had while Steve was away.
Recognizing Bucky’s serious face from the doorway, you watched as his eyes traveled around your room with slight surprise. Soft embarrassment lit up your cheeks because you never intended on him seeing your room as messy as it was. You watched him stand for a minute as he searched for you, hidden in the shadows of the room and your blankets. The clutter in your room had slowly accumulated for a few days, and it had seemed too impossible for you to get out of bed to clean it.
Bucky looked at you quizzically, as if to be asking if he could come in further. “Come in” You said quietly, watching him move indecisively around the room. Acknowledging his discomfort, you bent and pushed some clothes off of the opposite side of your bed so that he could come and sit comfortably.
“I haven’t seen you out of your room for two days.” Bucky said, worried tone in his voice.
“I left it, you just missed me I guess.” You said, trying your best not to make eye contact.
“Well, I’m glad. But I brought you some water and some crackers” He handed you a plastic bottle of water and a box of saltines he had in his hands.
“Did you go to the store for this?” You asked, taking a sip from the cool water to quell the irritating dryness in your mouth.
“Yeah. Earlier.” He dropped his hands into his lap, and watched as you drank the water.
“Thank you. You didn’t have to get me anything, let me pay you back.” You said, looking around the room for your phone so you could transfer him a few dollars.
“No, its fine. A thank you is enough.” He replied, letting an uncomfortable silence fill the air after you decided not to reply. You two sat quietly for a minute as you ate a few saltines. Not talking seemed good, though.
Eventually, he decided he had enough of the silence and cleared his throat. You eyed him suspiciously, his flesh hand fidgeting with a small portion of fabric at the bottom of his shirt.
“Everything okay?” You asked him, watching him fidget uncomfortably.
“Yeah. Steve told me to check on you.” He said, looking you directly into your eyes.
“Why did Steve send you to check on me?” You said, pulling your comforter up over your stomach and sitting back.
“He said that you haven’t picked up a few of his calls for a few days and he said he was worried for you.” You sent back a guilty nod, trying to hide the frown on your face. In all honesty, you couldn’t find the energy to do almost anything recently, nonetheless pick up calls. You felt bad for not calling Steve back, but you knew that he wouldn’t pick up your return call anyways because he would have been busy with his mission.
“Anyways, I didn’t want to overstep any boundaries with you. Sorry.” He replied, noticing the face you had made in response to his words.
“No, thank you. I appreciate you bringing me some food and water.” You replied, setting your hand on his for a moment as to show your gratitude. He nodded, and sent back a curt smile.
“Um, they will probably be back soon. He said that the mission ended earlier than they expected” He said as he stood up and walked toward the door.
“Okay. Thank you, Buck.” You replied, not paying him much attention as you grabbed your phone from the nightstand. He left the room but lingered in the doorway for a moment. After taking one last glance around your room, he turned and shut the door behind him as he walked away.
You checked your phone to see four missed calls from earlier this morning and later last night. It would be so much easier to talk with Steve if he would text you, but he always insisted on calling you. As much as you hated talking with people on the phone, you always gave in to Steve and called him.
Quickly dialing his number, you decided to call him back and apologize. You pressed the call button and waited for him to pick up. Twirling your hair,  you anxiously listened as the phone rang a few times. After five rings and what felt like a wait of thirty minutes, you were sent to voicemail.
You sighed and laid back in your bed as the voicemail bot talked through her spiel about leaving a message. Eventually, the beep sounded and you could start speaking.  Taking a deep breath, you started to speak. “Um. Hey baby, I’m so sorry. I apologize, I feel so bad. Um, I hope everything from your mission went well. I’m proud of you, always. Anyways, I can’t wait to see you soon. Call me back when you can- or just see me in person. I love you” Words spilled out of your mouth like word vomit. Your eyes started to water with guilt. You really did feel bad for not talking to him.
Hanging up the phone, you decided to seize the momentary clear headspace and energy to take a shower. Having Steve see you like this seemed terrible, you knew he would overreact and make everything a big deal.
You walked toward the bathroom connected to your room. Everything seemed unreal, the light too bright, the room too cold, and like it had been forever since you had seen the bathroom. You turned the on the shower water hotter than you normally would have. You showered in near silence and slowly lathered your body with plain bar soap you had when you were too overwhelmed for your normal scented one.
Time in the shower seemed too short, and before you knew it you were out and toweling off slowly. Working your way around your legs, you made sure you were thoroughly dry. Sitting on the cold bathroom counter, you applied lotion to your legs and arms, and inhaled in the subtle scent of the artificial coconut.
You quickly stepped down onto the floor and opened back into your room after hearing commotion from somewhere else on the floor. You picked up Steve’s shirt from by the bathroom door, and slid it on. The shirt was generously over sized on you, but it was comforting even if his scent was wearing off. Putting on some black sweatpants, you decided that was good enough and that you were proud of yourself for taking a shower today.
The commotion outside seemed to die down, and you heard somebody walking down the hall. You made your way toward the door, and breathed heavily with a hand on the doorknob. Leaning against the door, you faltered for a moment as if to decide whether you were ready to go out and see everyone again. Eventually though, you decided to go for it and cautiously opened the door.
You stepped slowly out of your room, as if you knew you were walking into your impending doom and you were trying to stall for as long as possible. The joyful chatter became increasingly louder as you approached. Eventually you saw Sam’s joyous smile at the end of the hall, speaking loudly.
He turned to his side to see you slowly walking down the hall, and decided to nearly holler down to you.
“Hey! No way, its Y/N. I thought you would never come out of hiding.” He called to you, and you rolled your eyes in fake confidence and shuffled along.
Reaching the end of the hall, you saw the other Avengers who had arrived from their mission. Your eyes scanned the room quickly as you looked for Steve. Upon spotting him, your face lit up. His smile was captivating, and you could stare all day. His eyes seemed tired, but he was happy to be back.
You stepped toward him and he looked you up and down. “Nice shirt” He said, instantly recognizing it as his own.
“Thanks” You said, and your face became hot as you were blushing. Usually, you were confident and sassy, but being with Steve always made you flustered.
You stepped toward him and slipped into his warm arms, hugging him tighter than you realized. He kissed the top of your head in greeting. You smiled into his chest, and mumbled a small hello.
Almost forcing you off of him, you giggled sheepishly.
“And thus, the lovebirds are reunited” Tony said, mocking you two playfully. You rolled your eyes in response, and held Steve close. Having him back in one piece never failed to make you happy.

a few days ago in eugene, oregon, a BLM group organized a children’s march to allow kids a space to protest in a family-friendly manner. one of the men leading the protest, isiah wagoner, was intentionally ran over by a subaru driven by a white man. he’s been hospitalized. the man that ran him over has not been charged. would you mind signing a petition to get justice for isiah? he’s been spearheading a lot of the protests and marches in eugene and he’s very important to the community. he only needs a few more signatures! thanks!

I think that one of life’s greatest blessings is being able to look back on old photos and memories and see how you’ve changed. I love that I can see how I am no longer who I used to be, or what I used to hate about myself. I feel so proud that I can change, and that I’m not a static character.

Sweater Weather
pairings: avengers x reader (platonic)
summary: you officially come out to the avengers!
warnings: none? a swear word or two
word count:~1,000
--
   “I think I’m ready Pete”
You and Peter had been friends for a long time, even before you joined the avengers. Of course, being closest to him, you told him that you were bi first. He had been supportive, and not in the least bit surprised. Now, he was psyching you up so you would tell everyone else.
“Damn right! You got this!” Peter replied, trying his best to encourage you.
You took two steps our from your room, where you and Peter were talking. Seeing everyone down the hallway in the living room, you got scared and turned back.
“Yeah never mind, maybe I’m not ready”
In all honesty, coming out was harder than you expected. Everyone kind of knew, but you wanted to confirm it for once and all. They were like your family, and it was hard when you didn’t know how they were going to react.
Placing a hand on your shoulder, Peter said “Maybe you should leave hints? You shouldn’t tell them until you’re comfortable.”
“Yeah, yeah hints. That’s a good idea. Truly wise words, Parker.” A slight smile spreading across your face as you talked.
-
The next day, you got yourself ready again. Your plan was to aux your music in the gym while working out, and play sweater weather. The avengers weren’t exactly up to date with pop culture and memes like that, but it was almost unmissable.
You decided to wear your favorite gym clothes as a comfort and reassurance for what you were about to do. Stepping out of your room, you prepared yourself for the battle of asking if you could play your music today. After walking to the gym a little faster than you would have liked, you stopped outside of the door.
After standing and hesitating for a few minutes, you heard a voice behind you suddenly. “Are you going in anytime soon?” Natasha’s asked through a smile.
“Yeah yeah, sorry. Just getting ready to work out.” You replied awkwardly, stepping inside to get out of Nat’s way.
Seeing only a few people inside, you called out “Can I aux today?”. Your question was met with protest, namely from Tony and Sam.
After a minute of heated discussion, Thor finally spoke up. “No, let her. I want to hear the little woman’s music.” His voice boomed over everyone else’s.
“See? Let me play my music for once.”
“Fine, but don’t play bad music.” Tony replied, surrendering the high tech speakers he had set up.
You plugged your phone in, searching for Sweater Weather. You started your workout, trying your best to act nonchalant. After a minute of surprise, everyone else seemed to go back to doing their own thing. You almost missed Nat’s suspicious glance at you.
“This isn’t workout music, woman.” Sam replied, eyeing you.
“You’re not workout music.” You replied, not really trying to defend yourself. Everyone chuckled at your comeback.
The next day, you and Peter started scheming again. Most of the other avengers were out of the living room, working on their own things.
“Okay okay, I have an idea. What if I wear combat boots and cuff my jeans and then you draw attention to it?” You ask, throwing around ideas.
“Yeah, that’s actually a good idea.” Peter said, laughing a little.
Together, you two kept laughing for most of the day.
Eventually, you decided it was time to get up and execute your plan. You stomped out of your room confidently. The cuffed jeans and combat boots fit your figure well. You trudged to the elevator, where Peter was waiting for you to go hang out with Ned and MJ.
Looking around the room to see if anyone else was in the vicinity, he started to recite the lines you two decided on. “Wow! Look at those CUFFED jeans. Those go so well with those COMBAT BOOTS!” Peter said, making it painfully obvious it was an act.
“Wow thanks Pete! I’m so glad you said that totally unprompted!” You replied, not being able to help from laughing.
“Is this some sort of Pop Culture reference? You kids are weird.” Tony called down the hall.
You smiled happily at Peter, and headed into the elevator with him.
Once you guys had left, Nat called out to the others “So, what’s up with y/n?” She said, directing her voice to the others.
“That’s a good question, she has been acting weird lately” Steve replied.
“Maybe she’s going through something. We should give her space, and if she wants to tell us what’s up then she will.” Wanda said, obviously knowing what was going on with you.
“You seem like you know something.” Bucky said, eyeing Wanda suspiciously. She just shook her head and walked out of the room.
-
After a week of similar antics, you decided it was finally time to come out. Everyone had arrived home from a mission a day prior, and you decided everyone was rested enough to listen. You sat in the kitchen alone for some time, before deciding it was going to happen now or never.
Taking a deep breath, you spoke “FRIDAY? Could you please ask everyone to come to the kitchen? Say that it’s important”
“Yes y/n. The others will be notified as you requested.” FRIDAY responded. You could hear her request slowly chime throughout the whole tower.
Eventually everyone decided to show up, most wearing a worried look. They crowded around where you sat on the counter. All of a sudden, it felt hotter than usual, and the lights seemed brighter than usual.
“You okay y/n?” Steve asked, voice full with worry.
“I-I” You got tripped up on the first word. Taking a deep breath, you tried again. “I have something to tell you all.”
“We are all listening kid” Tony said, and a few of the others nodded along with his words.
Eventually the words “I’m bisexual” found their way out of your mouth. “In fact, I’ve known since like 6th grade. I just- I just didn’t want to say anything because when you’re young, people think of it as a phase.” You finished your sheepish ramble.
Only Steve and Thor truly seemed surprised. Wanda smiled, evidently proud of you. Nat only said “I knew it” which earned an airy laugh from you. After seeing nobody was mad (and why would they be), you felt a weight lift off your back.
Everyone circled in to hug you, and tell you that they loved you. You were proud of yourself, and felt as though your heart was going to burst from the love and support. You couldn’t help but wonder why you didn’t do this sooner.

Sugar Candles and Sad Songs
summary: Rainy days made you want nothing more than to curl up on the couch listening to Lorde.
pairings: Bucky barnes x reader (established relationship)
warnings: angst and crying. yeah idk. fluff
word count: 1000
a/n: I hate the trope where your s/o comes home and fixes all your worries or problems because to me it isnt very realistic. I might redo it or do something similar in the future where it is more realistic in the sense that not every problem can just be fixed by a hug.
also, im begging you to listen to Nothing by Bruno Major while you listen because it perfectly sums up the vibe I get from this

Barely escaping the drizzle outside, you step into your apartment complex after a long workday. Your hair, now slightly wet, glistened with beads of water as the light hit them. The familiar smell of distant sandalwood and La Croix always seemed to inhabit the lobby. You silently marched into the awaiting elevator and pressed the button for your floor.
Eventually, the elevator reached your floor and you stepped out. You fumbled for your apartment key for a moment, eventually getting the right one. Inserting the key, you opened the door to reveal your tabby cat, Cherry. She rubbed against your leg as you plopped your items down on the ground next to your discarded black shoes. Picking up cherry and petting her head, you treaded into the kitchen and started to brew tea.
You looked out the kitchen window a little more gloomily than you would have liked. Watching the rain trickle down the windows always had an affect on you. Lighting a sugar scented candle, you brought your tea to the couch and burrowed under a soft blanket. Rain hit the large living room windows like the beat of a drum. You peered outside the window, watching life move by below. It was always something about seeing the blurry New York lights below that made you a little sad. Perhaps it was watching the people move by tiredly, or perhaps it was simply the weather.
Checking your phone, you had seen no new text from Bucky. He had not messaged you for the past 4 days, and it really made you realize how stuck up on him you were. You had made a drunken promise to yourself that you would remain independent if you were to get into a relationship. All of that seemed to promptly wash down the drain after you started dating Bucky.
It had been almost a year since you had realized you had really fallen for him, and nothing had really changed, except for him. He had been disappearing for a few days at a time lately. You had always just swept it under the rug assuming that it was a mission for work. Today seemed to really affect you, though. Every drop of rain reminded you of him. The blanket around you made you wish you were in his arms instead.
Before you could even realize, a hot tear slipped down your cheek. It had been too long since you last cried and everyday just seemed to be a ticking time bomb until you exploded. It was one tear, then two, then three and four, then all of them at once. Every tear seemed to bring with it another. You pushed your head into your blanket, trying to hide your choked sobs.
You cried for a long time. You cried until the street lights turned on, and you could feel the hot burning on your face. You cried until the blanket you were crying into had a wet spot from your tears, and your voice was raspy.
After deciding you were finished with your pity party, you walked to the bathroom. Cherry looked at you quizzically from her spot on the floor.
“I’m okay cher-bear” you whispered sullenly to your cat. She replied with a blank  stare and a soft meow. You stroked her back a few times before dropping your hands and standing in front of the old bathroom mirror.
Investigating your reflection, you decided to clean yourself up. As you fixed your hair, one or two tears fell down your cheek. You got a soft washrag and wet it with cold water. The cold washrag was pressed to your face by your tired hands. Hopefully, it would clear up some of the redness on your cheeks.
You went to turn on the faucet to have a shower, but you heard three firm knocks on your door. You sighed heavily and tried to quickly make yourself look more presentable. You slowly trudged to the door and heard another few knocks.
“Yeah I’m coming” You shouted through the door, hoping the person on the other side didn’t hear your voice crack slightly.
Peeking through the door’s peep hole, you saw a very tired and sad looking Bucky on the other side. You held your breath slightly and prepared to see him again. Eventually you opened the door and stepped aside to let him in.
“Have you been crying?” He asked after seeing your red cheeks and puffy eyes. You couldn’t bring yourself to reply, so you just stared at him blankly.
“Are you okay doll?” He asked again, urging you to reply.
“Come in” You stepped farther to the side from the door so that he would step inside. He instinctively hugged you once he was inside, and you lightly wrapped your arms around him.
“I missed you” You practically whispered in his ear.
“Oh doll, I missed you too. I missed you more than you could imagine.” He squeezed your body against his again.
“Where have you been?” You asked him, a tear running down your cheek.
“Love, I was on a mission for work. I’m so sorry I couldn’t tell you beforehand” He brushed his lips against yours with sweet intent.
“You seem to be doing this a lot.”
“I mean, it is my job. But you’re right. I’m so sorry and I will do better.” He grabbed your hand and led you to a spot on the couch. He sat and wrapped his arm around you in an awkward embrace.
“I’m sorry too. I’m sorry I really try to understand that its your job I just I don’t know sometimes” With every other word that you spoke, your eyes seemed to get even more watery.
He wiped the tears from your eyes. “Baby, you’re doing a great job. I know it’s hard.”
You nodded in response, and burrowed your face into his neck. He pulled you closer into his body and ran his metal hand through your hair. The cold vibranium on your scalp sent shivers down your neck.
Taking your face out of his neck, you looked down at Cherry. She lightly hopped in between the small space of you and Bucky.
“Awh look at our furbaby.” You said in between a smile. Cherry always seemed to like Bucky more than you, and you found it endearing.
Cuddling your small family close, you stretched out on the couch underneath the blanket. You felt one last kiss placed on your head before you fell asleep.
