hello again legion. it's been a while. my question is if you could recruit one survivor or killer into legion who would it be. you don't get to say you wouldn't recruit any of them btw in this scenario the entity is making you do it because you're not hitting kill quotas. so maybe fix yourself before complaining to me. anyway it can be any of them but you have to provide sufficient justification or it's automatically James Sunderland
#i'll be honest i was too lazy to color this but i wanted to get it out#very very rough 'n this time folks#answers#dbd ask blog

Wdyt the legion kids zodiac signs are? (Idk if you're interested in this but I found out that using zodiac signs for characters is a great starter... Like for building their personality).
You can do the main three (ascendant; basically what others get from their first impression of you. Like the personality you use out in public. Sun; your actual personality, the one you'd use around family and close friends. And moon; your inner personality, your feelings and secret traits that you wouldn't express openly).
I hope I explained these well enough and that it makes you think! (New Anon btw. Hello, mun!)
(I hadn't really contemplated this much until you asked, but I love thinking zodiac so I do have some solid answers:
Julie - Gemini Sun, Scorpio Moon, Pisces Ascendant. Julie is both social butterfly and social chameleon. I think her place as the most social member of the group and how easily she lies and plays a different role in front of other people shoes her in for gemini easily, along with her curiosity and morbidity. While she seeks shallow pleasures for brief fun, what she really craves is emotional intensity, which I think plays with scorpio moon well. Pisces rising because of the strong association with art, social-chameleoning, and having a desire to see the world in and live in a dreamy and fantastical way.
Frank - Sagittarius Sun, Leo Moon, Aquarius Ascendant. Frank hates routine and structure. He's friendly and outgoing, but in a way that still sets him apart from others. He's also very active and fond of sports, which is a stereotype associated with the sag lol. They're also associated with optimism, which I think plays interestingly with Frank's ideology that thinking about something is enough to manifest it. Leo moon is associated with controlling and organizing friend activities, which Frank definitely does - bossy guy, trying to push everyone to further extremes. He's a creative sort with a lot of magical thinking, and likes others to think he's really worldly and knowledgeable. He's paradoxically standoffish and social, but also very paradoxical and irreverent, which I feel fits the aquarius assignment well.
Joey - Virgo Sun, Taurus Moon, Sagittarius Ascendant. Joey is a hard-working individual, but also a very practical and quick-thinking one. He struggles with anxiety and being high-strung, pushing himself too far. He's Responsible. All very virgo of him. With his moon, I think the taurean moon descriptions of like being very persevering, trying to avoid messy or unpredictable situations, wanting to build a reliable situation, etc. is very relevant to him. Sagittarius rising is often associated with Seeking, wanting more out of life, but also being opinionated and competitive, which I think Joey has a little bit of going on. Even though unpredictable circumstances cause him anxiety, he wants to branch out and try these new, crazy things anyways, and wants to have a good time, and more than anything wants to believe everything can be better if he just tries hard enough. There's a reason he ends up buying into Frank's ideology despite initial hesitation!
Susie - Taurus Sun, Cancer Moon, Aries Ascendant. Susie is a very dependable person, but also someone I see as very stubborn and set in her beliefs. She's sensitive, but she's also very fixed - even upsetting her isn't going to move her, and may in fact fix her more firmly in place. For her moon, that sensitivity rings true. She doesn't like change and is defensive of her friends, wanting what's best for them, but is also indirect, not likely to confront issues head-on. I really like this screenshot of the natal chart website I'm looking at for her:
Speaking of family problems, aries ascendants are often described as having an upbringing that requires them to learn to take care of themself. Impatience and impulsiveness and a youthful charm are also part of this sign. I think Susie isn't necessarily competitive but definitely has a compulsion to "prove herself" and an amount of self-criticism that tracks well with this ascendant placement.
Sorry to anyone who doesn't care about zodiac who had to read all this LOL)

Since the last Anon asked about your Julie headcanons... May I ask about your headcanons for frank, he's my favorite out of the group. I mainly wanna know more about his appearance and voice (general stuff mostly). You can add anything else that comes to mind, the more hcs the better lol.
Also! If you had to assign a type of horror subgenre and trope to the legion members, what would you pick and why?
((My dear son Frank... For this blog his appearance is blond with shitty spiky hair. I think him having a buzz or growing it out like the comics is pretty nice too, but I like imagining him with the like shitty spiky crunchy bleached blond 90s punk hair. since he plays basketball he's probably decently tall. I think the male Legion voice in the game tracks to him pretty well! If I had to pick a musician I might say like the lead singer of Screeching Weasel lol. Just because I think it's cute to imagine Frank and Julie singing
I usually draw him with quite a few scars from scuffles and other stuff I won't describe for the purposes of not being upsetting on tha blog. I also imagine that he wears a lot of mismatched and randomly sized clothes since a lot of his wardrobe comes from shoplifting. Also since this blog's Frank is trans I do imagine he was self-medicating outside the Entity. In my vision world the Entity provides automatic transitions because I think that's funny. (But also realistically because the Entity can utilize it as a tool of control/temptation to stay inside the Entity instead of trying to escape).
As for horror genres - they would all be into slashers obviously but I think Frank would be a real classic slasher guy. Psycho, Halloween, Scream, etc. Though I think he'd have a secret love for ghost movies too. Julie would obviously also love slashers but I think she'd also like artsy psychological stuff - she's a true crime girl, a serial killer enthusiast. I think she'd really enjoy dissecting the motivations and trying to put together the mystery of whodunnits but would also enjoy getting in the heads of villains. Joey I see as being more into the psychological horror as well but more Conceptual horror. I've always imagined Jacob's Ladder as a favorite. Susie I see as being into more supernatural/fantastical stuff, like monster movies. American Werewolf in London girl.))

Hello! Same anon that asked about your Julie headcanons. Firstly I adore your take on her, it's so unique and well thought out, it's just so cool!
Got another question for you mun too. What are the main differences between your legion and canon legion? From the general stuff to the angsty stuff (I didn't ask for angsty headcanons before... So I'm changing that lol).
((The main Main difference is probably that my cast of them is pretty young. Dbd Legion's ages are incredibly inconsistent and in various forms of lore they're all 18, or they're all in their 20s, or they're all still in high school... So casting them as ranging from 16-19 instead of all being closely the same age/in the same grade is pretty unique from the other canons.
On an individual level, going in FJSJ order:
Frank - I don't think he's actually very different from canon, I just think I've thought through the... implications of his life a lot more than BHVR themselves have. Like when it comes to the foster/adoption system it can take quite a bit for a kid to be Permanently taken from their family with no visitation given - when that happens there's often a very good reason for it, like extreme neglect and abuse. The fact that he was removed from his parents at such a young age has some pretty dire implications on the level of abuse he was subjected to at a young age. Going from foster home to foster home itself can also be fairly traumatizing. I have a lot of thoughts about his fear that he's unlovable, that there's something so fundamentally wrong with him that everyone wants to leave him or force him to go eventually, and how that probably influences his interactions with his friends. Like an impulse that if he doesn't "drag them down" to his level and make them as "bad" as him that they'll eventually realize he's bad and leave him, too. It's kind of canon to the comics but I do think he sneaks out a lot and rarely sleeps at home just because his adoptive father is such a dick. If he hadn't gone to the Entity I think he could've been a librarian. :)
Julie - (Shorter since I already did a whole post on her). My version of her has a slightly more strained relationship with her parents than the one we see in the official comic, though we know little about her relationship with her parents in the "mainline" canon. We know Julie has a lot of friends and is probably the most "social" of the Legion - I think it's very interesting to think about how that conflicts with her very antisocial nature and how she probably parties to drown out the boredom/misery she feels in suburbia. I think that if Julie Hadn't gone to the Entity she probably would've excelled as a journalist or a horror writer.
Susie - The comics haven't quite touched on Susie's relationship with her parents very much yet but I do have the thought that she's got a Very bad relationship with her parents. There's the Christmas sweater skin that talks about them fighting a lot - I think her parents have a very volatile relationship themselves and I think that they take it out on Susie quite a bit. I think that Susie is probably on the lower end of the economic bracket along with Joey or at the very least that her parents are pretty financially controlling. My Susie of course also has a big crush on Laurie. I think the comic accidentally implies she has a crush on Julie too. Legion's going to become a mess of feelings... And is fat, which I think she would be if BHVR weren't cowards. My headcanon is that Susie and Jeff were kinda-sorta friends, which is a little bit canon to the comics, though they try to play up the crush angle. There are a couple skins that imply/talk about her being bullied and I think that's something she probably dealt with a fair amount growing up and is part of why she feels a like very strong urge to lash back at the world. I think if she hadn't gone to the Entity she would've been a comic artist or animator.
Joey - Joey is a really interesting character to me because I think he's probably the most "well adjusted" of the group. Without the influence of peer pressure he probably never would've fallen into any of this stuff but it's sad that he's treated as a criminal anyways because of racial biases. He has to deal with the isolation of working a lot and never getting the acknowledgement for it. I think there's a lot of dissatisfaction he feels with life in general and that's part of why he's so susceptible to like being able to exert any kind of will/power on the world by helping create Legion. He has a theoretically good relationship with his mom but also feels a lot of pressure not to let her down and feels like he can't share his feelings with her without disappointing her. I think it's very interesting that he's kind of the functional/practical brain of the group and thinks of how to keep them all safe - like in the comics where he suggests covering their faces to avoid being identified. And I think it's really notable that he's the only member of Legion who wears proper gloves and paints around his eyes. He's very conscious of the danger of being identified... The biggest difference in my Joey with other canons is probably that he isn't involved in sports/being a mascot at all, and also instead of the implicit crush on Susie I have him crushing on both Frank and Julie lol. If he didn't go to the Entity I think Joey would've been a fashion or costume designer. He has a lot of interesting skins related to making outfits or dressing up, so I think it's fun to explore that side of his interests and personality. I wonder if that's why the comic artist decided to make him a mascot...))

Got any Julie headcanons to spare? From general stuff (like appearance) to more... Specific stuff (like gender identity and voice). I would love to read them mun. Plus your art is wonderful and very cute to look at (I truly mean that)
(I have quite a few Julie headcanons! As the universe of DBD is functionally a multiverse where characters can have small differences between iterations of themselves it's fun to play with those kinds of alternatives and differences.
For my Julie's appearance I draw heavily on greasy 90s aesthetics and in particular Billy Loomis - the Legion is at its core a Scream reference and I personally thought making Frank "the Billy" is a little too obvious, too easy. That's why you'll see I often draw her with short greasy brown hair lol.
Gender-wise the version of her seen on this blog is a trans woman (and Frank in parallel as a trans man). I think a lot of the "horror" in suburban horror comes from feelings of isolation or even persecution in your community and as a trans person who was once an edgy and angry teenager I think it's fun to explore the Legion from that angle.
I'd never really thought about her voice! I think the female Legion voice in the game sounds a lot more like Susie to me than Julie, though. For me I'd really look to female vocalists from the 90s like Courtney Love or Donita Sparks.
I do imagine Julie's parents would be relatively supportive if ignorant (since it Was the 90s) and that acceptance would be a bright spot in an otherwise very distant relationship. Julie hides a lot of herself from her parents, as seen in the comics, trying hard to make them think she's just a normal girl. But smothering those parts of herself is obviously very painful and isolating for her too.
I think Julie projects a strong air of confidence but actually has a lot of negative views of herself. Not in being traditionally self-hating but I think in a truly teenage way she thinks there's something wrong with her, that she's evil by nature. Obviously she's just a troubled kid who needed her emotional needs acknowledged instead of being ignored, but that's something she was never mature enough to realize (and never will be, now! It's very sad).
At the time of being in the Entity I think she strongly believes that without her push and her influence, the other members of Legion probably never would've killed anybody, but that she was always going to end up here. It's kind of a moot point because she also realizes they were all too enmeshed and were never going to split up and she was always going to corrupt them (and I think this is an anxiety she shares with Frank, who probably sees himself as a violent rot that tainted all his friends).
Other smaller headcanons: I like to imagine that Julie has an older brother, but there's a large gap between them so he was already out of the house by the time she was in elementary school. He's a successful and well-adjusted man which just makes her feel more fucked by comparison.
Her family isn't rich or anything but is relatively well-off. She has a car (in some canons?) and unlike Joey didn't need to work to buy it for herself. She gets a reasonable allowance and is kinda the "friend who rents movies" and "the friend who buys dinner" when other people don't have the money to do it.
She likes gothic metal, favoring bands like Tiamat, Type O Negative, Lacuna Coil, etc.
Thank you for the compliment!! I appreciate that you like the blog. I should probably post more haha but I've been burnt out of late. Asks like this are very encouraging!)

Frank. How did you allow Talbot to merge and experiment on you with Julie, Joey and Susie with Blight Serum? Were you forced? And where your friends already dead before they became part of your body?

Despite her initial bad attitude, she seems reluctantly grateful. (And a little embarrassed).
🐚 Hey! You guys are good at menial tasks, right? Help me find a shell that I can give to.. someone. -Susie, @legionaberrations
“Oh! A gift for someone?” Fancy gets up, brushing off some sand. “Sure, I wouldn’t mind helping. Uhm, Is there anything you’re looking for in particular?” he asks before the other two could say anything.
Elf frowned, sure they didn’t mind helping but Susie could have been nicer about it.
The other two got up more slowly but decided to follow along anyway.
