***Spoilers for book 7***
Tumblr media
I thought for all that you taught me
I thought you’d follow it through
I thought you alone had strength to stand
Against whatever fate commands.
.
I thought it meant something to you
Since it had meant so much to me
That out my shell I saw your face
And from that day you’ve been my fate.
.
I thought you would never change
Just as stars would stay the same.
Never near but always bright
Show me the path and broaden my sight.
.
You held me like a mother would
And taught what father never could
It’s thanks to your guidance that I grew
I thought it meant something to you.
.
But I have not grown in your eyes
You still deceive me with such lies
Do you not have trust in me
As I trust you, my family?
.
Why have you never spoken
Until all we have is broken?
Why must you always keep so clear
Away from those who hold you dear?
.
But your child has grown, the seeds are sown.
You will not face your fate alone.
And I will not be left behind.
You are family, fates intertwine.

According to Vil's new birthday story, he has no idea who his mom is and isn't interested in finding her. How do you feel about this?
Hello! 💙
So I just looked at his new birthday vignette this morning and if I'm being honest, this kind of surprised me and not in a good way.
First off this seems kind of...dark? Like, even though we're used to mothers being dead in Disney movies, at least we know they were around at some point. Considering this is a Disney game and Japan has high family values, I'm surprised Yana was able to get away with this. I feel like just having his mother die pre-canon would be less ominous. And secondly, most importantly, this gives some more insight into Erik's character that I'm...uh...not exactly comfortable with.
I love the relationship he has with his son, it's one of my favorite aspects of Vil's character and the game in general. But if Vil's mom isn't around to the point he doesn't even know who she is, that means at best his parents had a strained relationship/messy divorce. And at worst, Erik had a casual fling that resulted in Vil's birth. If the latter is true, it makes matters all the more confusing because you'd think Erik would at least mention his mother at least once.
Maybe this is just me projecting my own ideas on a character who has had only 90 seconds of screentime so far but this just seems hella ooc for Erik considering how much he loves and cares for Vil. If he did have a casual fling, what would stop him from having others? Being a famous actor, it's not so far-fetched that he'd have many women throwing themselves at him. Who's to say he doesn't have other out-of-wedlock babies running around Twisted Wonderland that he/we don't know about? Do you see where I'm going with this?
This is just one of those writing choices that really don't make sense to me and because of the implications, it really leaves me confused and uncomfortable. And it does make me wonder why Erik didn't simply remarry since I'd think he'd want his son to have a mother's love.
But in regards to future writing...
Tumblr media
...I am paying this new bit of information no mind. I do agree with you though that Vil definitely should have had a stepmother (Neige's mom). Oddly enough, my headcanon for Vil's mom is very similar in appearance to Snow White's mother from the VERY early Disney storybooks.

Twst spoilers for Book 7 and playful land
Just a heads up I’m going to be discussing the only actual "villain" in TWST and why his characterization bothers me. Also, keep in mind this is for the games only.
Okay, I’m slowly putting together why Henrique’s design and characterization bothers me story-wise and I think I figured it out.
It’s because his portrayal goes against things TWST set up: that no one is a “villain” and their crimes can be overlooked, no matter what.
The Overblots boys are a prime example of this, namely Azul and the Tweels who tricked their entire dorm and several other students into dodgy, immoral contracts that essentially turned them into slaves (and, I believe, gave the trio the “right” to literally beat them, but don’t quote me on that last part). However, after his contracts are burned and he recovers from over blotting, everything seems forgotten with no consequences.
And it’s not just the main cast either, it’s the side foes as well.
Eliza kidnapped Idia and was going to give him the literal kiss of death to fuel her delusions and wish for a “happy marriage.” Yet she is portrayed comically and a minor inconvenience even though, again, she was going to murder Idia.
Rollo used an ancient flower to steal magic from mages causing havoc for the city and endangering everyone, but gets no official punishment. In fact, no one other than the main cast knows he was behind it.
Even Fellow and Gidel, who were fucking human traffickers and who submitted people to fates worse than death, weren’t portrayed as villains. They were antagonists and a threat, but not "villains." And in the end they dance off into the sunset to start a school without even a call out for their sins.
While I personally hated this theme—as I just hate the easily forgiven trope in general--I can’t deny that the writers were consistent in how they handled all the antagonists in the game.
As terrible as their actions were, they were given humanizing traits and had their acts hand waved at the end. (Mostly, anyway. Jamil’s rep apparently took a blow but nothing major.) The writers had a theme and they stuck to it. Then Henrique appears.
Henrique is the only actual villain in TWST without any sympathetic traits or attractive features. He is just presented as a fat, stupid, irredeemable bastard. And while it’s a change of pace, it’s also an inconsistency within TWST.
With every other for they are presented as hot, or at least cute. I mean, look at them;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the side villains are cute in a way;
Tumblr media
And look at Henrique;
Tumblr media
See how the pattern has been thrown? The only other ones that might be deemed “uncute” are Gantu, the Trick or Treaters, and the ghosts. (YMMV)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then, these guys aren’t seen as villains, just obstacles. Henrique, on the other hand is presented as being the old stereotypical villain twst has always steered clear from.
Appearance aside, his personality is shown to be prideful, gluttonous, greedy, and manipulative who plays on people’s emotions to get what he wants. And there are no sympathetic traits shown to balance those out which, again, goes against everything that had been presented before.
For example; even though Eliza wants to MURDER Idia, we see that she is beloved by her people and we are told that the reason she’s the way she is is because she never got to fulfill her dream of a perfect wedding due to being invaded and murdered that day.
Another one is Rollo. Although, he causes a lot of harm, the audience sees that this is a trauma response due to losing his younger brother who misused magic.
Now, the reason for this MIGHT be because when we see Henrique it’s in Lilia’s dream.
Yes, it's all Lilia’s memories but they’re being brought to the surface by Malleus’ spell which, as we saw in other dreams such as Epel’s, has interesting effects. Therefore it’s possible that Henrique wasn’t completely one dimensional or the only ugly person in the story. After all, Lilia would have bias pov against the man who lead the Silver Owls to invade his homeland. In reality, Henrique could have been handsome, just a bit beefy and he could had “sympathetic” reasons that Lilia wasn’t aware of. But alas, that’s theory.
As of now, we have to take it at face value that Henrique was a pathetic, nonredeemable man whose hideousness is reflected inside and out. And whose characterization conflicts with TWST’s theme.
Another reason is that it could be because Henrique wasn’t the main antagonist; The Knight of the Dawn was.
After all, he slayed Malleus’ parents and led the Silver Owls to invade. Therefore, the Knight was the main villain of Lilia’s and Henrique was just the villainous force pushing him, like Riddle’s mom in book 1 and the owners of the carnival in the Playful Land event. But in that case the writers should have kept Henrique faceless and off screen just like the other two examples. However, I acknowledge that would be harder as Henrique plays a more hands on role than the other two. In which case, he probably should of had a helmet on. That way it keeps up the theme of actual “villains” being faceless.
Don’t misunderstand, I’m NOT saying justice for the bastard.
As stated, he was a prideful, greedy bastard that manipulated others emotionally to get wanted. He single-handedly started a war using the fear people had for the fae and manipulated the Knight of the Dawn through his devotion to Leah and the king, all to get Malenore’s amber. He had no empathy for those around him and cared not for the people who were hurt because of him. He even bragged about wanting to use Malleus as a stead after they killed his mother. Oh, and there’s the whole stealing resources and invading a foreign land thing.
Henrique was a bastard and a villain through and through. And because of that, he out of place here.
He doesn’t fit the story or pattern of villains shown before. He doesn’t fit TWST’s theme. His character doesn’t belong.
Am I over thinking it? Obviously. But like I said, it just bothers me from a story perspective. Sure I’m misunderstanding something and I’m sure others will point it out. This post is just to sort my thoughts as I’m trying to figure out what bugs me about Henrique’s portrayal. If anyone has similar thoughts, pleas share.

rook's makeup box in his room relaxation groovy is lowkey driving me crazy now actually because at first i thought it wasn't a reference to the evil queen's heart box, or at least was a more subtle one, but then i realized it absolutely is the heart box but which version?? or is it not meant to be a specific version, but twst's own take on it so that it's still a noticeable reference despite not being a one-to-one copy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
animated heart box vs live action remake heart box
Tumblr media
rook's box. it clearly has the little gold sword, with silver jewels, which doesn't quite match either version color-wise. the box itself also doesn't quite match either version, as the animated version is red with a curvy blue pattern beneath the latch, and the live action version is yellow-gold with a green color covered in thorns beneath the latch. i initially thought rook's box was definitely based on the live action version, despite not having the exact same main color, until i realized that the little nubs on the bottom of his box being gold while the main color of the box is brown matches the animated version more than the uniformly gold color of the live action one. i wish we could see what kind of pattern his has on the front of it, but either way, rook's box definitely was intended to resemble the heart box!
and as an aside, fun fact! during the twistune/rhythmic for the tapis rouge event a box can be seen that looks exactly like the animated version! which i find interesting because that could mean that rook's box is inspired by this one in-universe as well.

Leona has a lot of fun and noteworthy moments in this event (which is befitting one of the SSRs!) Like the previous Lost in the book event, they're all surrounded by books when being transported. This time, it's a secondhand book store, possibly the one mentioned in Sebek and Leona's birthday vignettes!
Something cute happens to; Grim seems to be overly familiar with Leona. In fact, he jumps in joy when he sees him and runs from the group of students he's with to "hang out" with him (which means have Leona buy him lunch) and even addresses him casually, calling out to him in a crowded bookstore.
Leona and Malleus have a very "on sight" relationship, as Leona is quick to throw jabs at Malleus. Malleus doesn't allow himself to be pushed around, however, and threatens to tan Leona's hide like a leather bound book! They're apparently close to fist fighting, as other students reprimand them for attempting to fight in such a crowded area.
Later, he's upset when others compliment Malleus' magical and mental prowress because he has the foresight to see if he can teleport out of there (we know how this ends) and see over the dense trees. When his magic fails, Leona gets in another quick jab, stating "oh pity, I had been hoping you could finally be of use for something." Sebek fires back "Must you ALWAYS have to pick at Young master's performance? If given permission, I would gladly punish your incorrigable behavior." However, Malleus calls him off .
It seems, however, that they can work together when push comes to shove, considering Leona warns Grim that "If that guy (Malleus) senses something odd about the book, its best to listen to him and back off." before getting sucked in. Again, when Jack Skellington introduces himself, Leona whispers to Malleus "Have you heard of this guy?" and when he confirms he hasn't, they agree he could be a problem.
Leona uses a special hand signal with Epel that nobody (is supposed) to decipher. However, Epel blurts out its meaning "That signal from Leona sempai means... let the guppies swim... he uses it during magilift games!", which backfires the plan that Leona had intended. Still, its very cute that he considers Epel to be someone reliable enough to scheme with! Also, its very cute how Epel was proud that he caught the subtle gesture and understood it.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I think Lilia’s dream should have been the last dream Silver and the others visited.
This way they can have Malleus chase the team from dream to dream. Or Ortho and STYX could distract him while Silver's team gathers the party. Then between dreams we see intervals of Malleus vs. Ortho.
Both choices would amp up the drama. Not only do we get to see Malleus grow angrier each time they get away, but this way allows Malleus to take part story. Since this book is about Diasomnia, that’s kind of important. As is, he's only mentioned in passing.
Plus, it would be interesting to see the climax take place in Lilia’s dream as Malleus did all this for Lilia. On top of that, it would be more dramatic for Silver.
Imagine Silver dealing with a long night of dream hopping while running, and fighting someone he considers family. Said person loathes him now, seeing him as an enemy and a traitor, and each "victory" makes that hate grow. And all the while Silver is wondering about his father. Where he is, if he’s alright, etc. But all he can find are dream versions of Lilia. And in each dream, the mental, emotional and physical stress grows. (I refuse to believe the dream magic ain't affecting him.)
Then—finally—he finds the real Lilia. He finds his father and thinks everything will be okay--only to discover doesn’t recognize him.
Not only that, but Lilia seems to detest Silver and the very idea of being a father to a human. And yet, he pushes on. Even though he’s exhausted, mentally and emotionally, he presses on. He finally found his dad. He isn’t going to give up now, not when they're so close. And then it happens.
Silver learns the truth of his heritage, and he BREAKS.
The scene was heartbreaking before. Now imagine if that scene took place after spending a whole night fighting. Desperately racing to save Malleus and Lilia then discovering that their suffering was the fault of his “family.”
It also adds weight to Sebek’s breakdown earlier as well, as Sebek would have gone through the wringer emotionally as well.
And, most importantly, Lilia’s dream is the most dramatic and the one most connected to all the Diasomnia characters. This is the dream we should have built up to.
As is, the other dreams seem rushed and—when you get down to it—unnecessary for the most part and are only there to explore dreams.
At least my way, even if Idia didn't have a plan and they were just running, it would still serve a purpose to the story by showing Malleus' frustration grow and what he can do while wearing down the protagonists.
At least, those are my thoughts. What do y’all think? Do you think they should have held off on Lilia's dream or do you like that it came first? What changes would you make to book 7?

Book 7 Spoilers. Out in EN and Edited
Silver: *looks between Silver and Malleus* Father.
Lilia: Yes?
Silver: Dusk was born as right after the war and Malleus hatched after the revenge strike, right?
Lilia: That is correct.
Silver: When was I put into that magical sleep?
Dusk: *knowing where Silver is going* Silver…
Lilia: If I’m right, as the humans knew they were losing the war.
Malleus: Silver. You know-
Silver: Would that not, technically, make me older?
Lilia: Hmm. I guess it would.
Silver: *looks at the two, before staring at Dusk* What happened to obeying your older brother?
(This is in canon limbo. Idk when to put Silver. It could be when this story says, it could be as the fae were fighting after the revenge strike but before Malleus, or it could be a bit after Malleus.)
Malleus: .... Ah, I see.

I wish there was a way to completely OPT OUT of AI. Like you could set your ENTIRE Internet browser to NOT shove it down your throat.
When social media was getting big, you could just NOT get a Facebook or a Twitter. It was simple as that. You can't do that with AI.
Trying to find a job? It goes straight to an AI filter. Trying to look at art? Here's 100+ ai shit. Trying to look up who was in what movie from the 1980s? GOOGLE GEMINI IS HERE WITH THE COMPLETELY WRONG ANSWER!
Someone PLEASE create a way to allow people to get AI the FUCK OUT of our lives if we DO NOT WANT IT!

I've recently got into dpxdc fics (im not into either fandom's source material but this fanfic and fandom is fun, screw me), and the character of John Constantine shows up quite a bit.
Just now I searched up about something related as I was a little confused, and happened upon the fact that he's from Liverpool.
Now here's why I'm yelling about this.
In no fic i've read so far is this mentioned. He is always described as a guy with a "British accent."
Now, if you're actually British you know its a thing you see and roll your eyes at (there isnt a "british accent" guys) but will understand whats being referred to is normally that one common accent that is sometimes called Standard English, or Southern Standard.
Nowwwww John, is from Liverpool. He is Scouse. SCOUSE. This is one of the wackest accents in England, and verrrrryyyy not like Southern Standard. Its a riot, and no offence to Scouse people but when i met a Scouse guy once i thoughthe was doing a bit when he said the word knife, but turns out thats just how he says it. Think John Bishop (actor and comedian, was a companion in S13 of Doctor Who.)
So I'd like people who don't know about regional english accents to realise what he actually sounds like, and it isnt your average BBC reporter.
