Hello everyone, the application form has now closed. Due to us getting fewer applications than anticipated, and many of the mods being quite busy, we are currently considering what the best course of action is right now. We appreciate your patience as we figure everything out!

Writer here! I am intrigued by this zine’s theme but confused as to how I am supposed to incorporate it into a story. What exactly are you looking for in written contributions? How long should a story be? Are you looking for stories featuring the cast as creators of art? Reimaginings of famous artworks with the DMC cast? (e.g. a story inspired by the works of Gustave Doré?)

Hi! Thanks for your interest in our project.

We want to give creators as much freedom as possible, so you have a lot of flexibility with your piece. We were thinking either you can partner with an artist to create a story around their piece, or you can recreate a historical writing style like you said. And if you have any other ideas, we'll be open to consider them too.

As for word count, we were thinking a 1,500 word minimum, but since the zine is digital and we don't have a definite page count or anything, you can write as much as you want (within moderation of course lol)

Can the art style only be medieval themed or would you accept other art styles so long as they are historic?

The theme of the zine is all of art history!! I just used the medieval art style for the graphics because I like it😊

is there a time y'all have in mind for when contributors will be working on the zine? (i'd like to be a pinch hitter too, but i have classes atm so i'm not sure) thank you! this looks really fun

We haven't laid out an exact timeline, but you'll have plenty of time to get your piece done, somewhere around 4 months. November-February, perhaps. And, since this zine is digital and free, we're not under any strict deadlines, so extensions shouldn't be a problem if you need a little more time. Thanks for your interest, we hope to see your application soon!
