13 Reasons Why I Dislike the Show “13 Reasons Why”:
1. The American Foundation of Suicide Prevention has specific guidelines on how to safely portray suicide without inadvertently causing more deaths, and the series blatantly disregards those guidelines in graphically showing Hannah slitting her wrists. This could literally result in more deaths by suicide, which is NOT OKAY.
2. It glorifies suicide by making it seem like killing oneself and leaving tapes/a note/etc is the only way to effectively send a message to the world, when in fact, the opposite is true – the most effective way to send a message is to survive, thrive and tell one’s story.
3. It simplifies suicide by making it seem like it is a direct result of bullying, sexual assault, etc. when in reality the issue is far more complex.
4. It conveys other characters as unhelpful and unsupportive when Hannah tries to reach out, which could discourage viewers from seeking help themselves.
5. It does not effectively address the subject of mental illness, which is a major component in the issue of suicide.
6. Hannah essentially blames others for her death, when in reality suicide is a choice made by those who commit it. Yes, things such as bullying and sexual assault can be a main factor in suicidal ideation and mental illness, but the decision to commit suicide is solely in the hands of the individual.
7. One of the characters justifies her self harm by saying “it’s what you do instead of killing yourself”, which simplifies and glorifies self harm by making it seem like a good “compromise” instead of suicide.
8. The show provides no resources for those struggling with similar issues to Hannah, which again goes against the specific guidelines of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It is not that hard to do research and find these guidelines, so it is clear that the creators of the show had little to no interest in taking advice from professionals or considering the potential negative impact they could have, which is honestly just disgusting.
9. The school counselor Hannah speaks to brushes off the clear signs of her being a suicide risk, which is literally against the law and not something any qualified professional would do.
10. It is highly offensive to many people struggling with mental illness and suicidal ideation because it never really delves into Hannah’s character, or portrays her as having mental illness (a major factor in most suicides) - it just makes her seem dramatic and attention-seeking, which perpetuates stereotypes.
11. It does not offer a healthy solution or way of coping with traumas such as bullying and assault - the only “solution” it offers is suicide, which, as mentioned previously, the show glamorizes and simplifies.
12. Hannah makes other people like Clay feel irreparably guilty for her death, which is cruel and inconsiderate, and not something most people who commit suicide would actually do. The show treats suicide as “the perfect revenge”, when in reality suicide is about feeling hopeless and sad and is a very personal decision.
13. As someone who has personally attempted suicide and knows the stories of countless others who have, I do not feel that the show accurately and fairly portrays the issue, or adequately addresses the main factors in suicide. To me and many others I have spoken to, it is downright offensive, lacking in research, and overall poorly done.
And that’s all I have to say about that.

Veganism is not about what you are eating, nor is it about how healthy you are.
Veganism is about who you are eating and how compassionate you are.

The Carbon Positive House is a prefabricated home by ArchiBlox that utilizes solar panels to produce more energy than the home consumes. In designing the interior of the home, energy efficient fixtures and sustainably produced materials were used. Additionally, the home’s appliances run on recycled rainwater. You can read more here!

Welcome!
Finally the time has come where we’re able to show off the finalised interior of our new home on wheels. Our van is rather unassuming from the outside, but a full-blown colourful and cosy home on the inside. We bought the van fully-converted from Middlesex Motorcaravans in London, and they’d fitted it out excellently:
Large double bed (also can seat two people with belts)
Cooker
Sink
Fridge
Ample storage
Swivel front passenger chair
LED lights (touch sensitive)
Removable table
Water tanks
Room for two gas canisters
Tinted windows
Curtains
Awning
The van is a mixture of greys and blacks, essentially a blank canvas for lots of colourful throws, cushions, and rugs to add warmth and brightness. Theos lovely mom Ali kindly made us the blue VW van cushion shown in the pictures, and we’ve also been gifted other items for the van which aren’t shown today but will no doubt make an appearance on here eventually. For added stealth we’ve had a cab curtain fitted by AMA Transporters, this allows us to literally park up anywhere with privacy. Storage is always going to be important when living in such close quarters, we’ve tried to be as savvy as possible when buying cookery equipment:
Collapsable kettle, when opened can boil up to 1.5L of water
Nesting pans - frying pan, two pans, and two measuring/mugs all fit neatly together.
When driving around the kettle, pans, and wash stuff can all be stored in the sink, perfect! We’ve also added self-adhesive hooks to the side of the cupboard to allow tea towels to dry. Under the bed provides a lot of room for excess clothes, food, chairs, and shoes to be stored out of the way. As you can see in the pictures there’s also storage above the bed which is perfect for clothes to be within arms reach. Another added extra is the porta potti! Contrary to many peoples beliefs, this does not stink out the van, and is kept hidden away in its own secluded cupboard (which also has a handy air vent!) when not in use. Don’t get confused and think this is a full-time toilet, it’s purely for night-time emergencies when the desire to stay comfortably in your van rather than wander out into the dark, cold, and possibly rainy weather, is strong. Such luxury! The van comes with a leisure battery which powers the lights, fridge, sink, and provides energy when needed for charging phones etc… We’re also planning on buying a Goal Zero Escape 150 power pack and Boulder 15 solar panel, for extra power. We’re omitting a roof box as we feel this will add to the ‘camper’ feel, and we’d rather keep the van looking as bland (from the outside!) as possible. It’s a VW T4 Transporter LWB 2.5 TDI Diesel, giving us 630miles on one full tank of fuel, happy with that.

Antisocial vs. Asocial | Psych2Go
Do you know the difference between being antisocial and being asocial? You might be surprised! Most people confuse the two, or use them interchangeably, especially when they’re describing themselves to another person. This is a huge mistake! Replacing “asocial” with “antisocial” could have disastrous consequences on your relationships if someone knows the difference in definitions. Educate yourself on these fascinating terms by watching this video, and you’ll never give off the wrong impression again!

28. A small cabin in Delhi, NY, built by an artist and a musician. Inspired by photos of hand-built homes from the 60s and 70s, the couple employed their artistic talent and the help of their family and friends. Over the years they’ve learned quite a bit of carpentry. The cabin took four years to build and it is still not complete.
