it’s crazy that part of my lore is that I disappeared off of tumblr for years because my ex was jealous of a tumblr famous cat.

let me explain, back in 2015-ish I was gaining some traction for my tumblr posts and I was making lots of cool mutuals then I just disappeared without any explanation because my relationship was so strained, and when he found out I was finding joy and comfort in this weasel looking cat named pangur he would get mad. I looked at pictures of him when I was anxious I had to sneak glances at him in secret because for some reason it’s the only thing that cheered me up, we had full blown fights over a cat that I didn’t even own?? anyways, thank you pangur for getting me through that.

Oral rehydration therapy!!

This is one of those small miracles where we put together three common household items and utterly defeat one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. It was developed unduly recently to treat cholera, a Medieval disease that still causes hundreds of thousands of deaths a year. And it can be treated with this dirt-cheap, dead simple Science.

My personal experience comes about as I am just getting over the A#1 worst bout of food poisoning in my life (contracted at a fancy-ass restaurant and not from eating elderly leftovers, to the surprise of everyone who has ever seen me go ‘eh still good’ before scraping off the mould and eating a Thing). I’d been ill for about 18 hours, and noticed that I was approaching clinical levels of dehydration- dizzy, headachey, couldn’t muster any spit, and frankly had stopped pissing. I tried drinking water, and just kept throwing it back up.

That was when I remembered an article I’d read about oral rehydration therapy. Apparently, the presence of electrolytes in water makes it much easier to absorb. The World Health Organization’s recipe calls for 25g of sugar and 2g of salt in 1L water (or six tsp sugar, ½tsp salt in 1 qt water if you live somewhere backward), but honestly just about any mixture where you can only sort-of taste the salt and sugar in the water does the trick.

Gatorade diluted to half strength is one such mixture. I had Ms Jess make me some, and it stayed down! Presently, I felt good enough to make a second glass for myself. I kept, ah, losing fluids for another few hours, but at least I was able to replace them. I managed to rehydrate and didn’t need to go to the ER for intravenous fluids, which is also nice.

TL;DR: Drink dilute Gatorade next time you think you will barf to death, and there are still miracles waiting in everyday items.

The most dramatic moment during my Camp Counseling career at an all girls camp was when a girl got a letter from a friend saying that Zac Efron had died and one of her bunkmates ran out of the cabin and shouted “ZAC EFRON IS DEAD!!!!!” and the camp immediately fell into chaos girls were crying in the middle of camp and running around spreading the news everyone was yelling and the counselors had to look up wether or not Zac Efron was dead (this is a wireless camp so the girls couldn’t access the internet and check for themselves) and then get out a megaphone and be like “ZAC EFRON IS NOT DEAD PLEASE REMAIN CALM” outside of all the cabins it was insanity.

I still think its the funniest shit ever that when I used to volunteer at planned parenthood every week even though I walked past mostly the same protesters every single time they were begging me not to get an abortion theres other options yadda yadda. Like meemaw you see me here every week. They call me abortions georg because I get another one every Monday at 8am
