If the siphon from the wash tank, sink or bathtub is completely blocked by stubborn flushing, then the water backs up in the pipe and no more escapes off in any way. This can be annoying and can grow to be quite a burdensome and smelly enterprise. Clogged pipe: what are the causes? From the kitchen sink, chilly fats and rough leftover food are often the offenders; from the wash basin, shower and bathtub, hair and soap residue in particular can clog the mind. To set your mind at ease: These are all natural causes that should be easy to remedy with home remedies or functional pipe cleaning, such as with the help of a pump. However, it might have been better to prevent the pipe from clogging: a drain strainer might have prevented this dirt from getting into the drain and preventing the pipe from the beginning. However, now it's too late and a remedy must be found - ideally with exceptionally leaky pipe cleaners or a costly plumber. Fixing the drain: home remedies and alternative tips The faucet is blocked and you want to avoid using chemical cleaning agents if possible? This works out! Baking powder and powder temperament are especially helpful in the struggle against fat and lime: both are true all-rounders from the family and also have the edge as drain cleaners, since they remove even stubborn deposits in a natural manner. Speaking of nose: Even unpleasant smells in the pipe may be neutralized with this home remedy, even if there is not any (yet) blockage. Why is the mix of these two home remedies so powerful? If you mix baking powder with vinegar, a chemical reaction occurs: carbon dioxide is produced. The discharge of the gas raises the pressure in the drain pipe and the blockage is loosened. The recipe is simple, economical and environmentally friendly: Put four tablespoons of baking powder into the clogged drain and let it react with half a cup of vinegar. The bubbly mixture should take effect for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and then rinsed through with hot water. click for more : Rather than baking soda, you may also use baking soda or washing soda to clean the drain. Vinegar can be replaced by the juice of a lemon, however, the exposure time is then extended to about one hour. So-called inorganic drain cleaners are available as liquid pipe cleaners or as granules and contain chemical ingredients that form caustic alkalis with water and therefore are utilized to remove blockages in drain pipes. Through the development of gas and heat (granules) or tensides and chlorinated water (liquid pipe cleaner), grease and deposits should be loosened and broken down and the drain ought to be freed of grime in the long run. When using pipe cleaners, then you should make sure that there is good ventilation and that the pipe is adequately rinsed with water following the recommended timeframe. On the 1 hand, since the competitive chemical mix is dangerous to health: Since it creates strongly corrosive liquids and an acrid smell, you should only use chemical pipe cleaners using family gloves and a face mask. Hint: Biological drain cleaners are a health and environmentally friendly choice. These operate with enzymes which break down fats and proteins and thus can fix the organic causes of constipation. Their disadvantage, however, is the long exposure time of several hours, which is usually hard to handle from the kitchen and toilet. Sink obstructed: drain free through plunger A simple trick to clean a clogged pipe from the wash basin or sink without resorting to aggressive drain cleaners is the good old Pümpel (regionally also called Pömpel). It consists of a rubber bell on a wooden stick and should be available in each household. The plunger can also be known as a drain and works like a roller bell: By pumping it creates negative pressure in the pipe and so loosens the blockage from the siphon. Program: To be able to expose the pipe, sufficient water should first be allowed into the basin it accumulates a few centimeters over the sink. When there's an overflow, it has to be closed with a cloth so that the suction cup can achieve the best effect. Then the open bottom of the pump is placed just at the middle of the drain and then pressed . The quick up and down motion of the wooden stick produces a powerful suction impact on the rubber bell, foreign bodies at the drain are loosened and can then be washed away. Suggestion: If there's absolutely no plunger, squeezing a plastic jar within the drain has a similar effect. Drainage free via pipe cleaning spiral If this treatment does not work to spare a clogged pipe from stuck residue, a pipe cleaning spiral might help. This tool is useful since its undulating nature allows it to reach the bends of the drainage pipes. Spirals for the drain aren't too common in private households and are reserved for skilled people. Tip: Instead, cable ties or kebab skewers can help loosen a plug in hair and other dirt in the pipe. If none of the home remedies and approaches mentioned so far have helped to clean out the clogged pipe, the last step is unfortunately only to disassemble the siphon and eliminate the deposits and obstacles by hand or using a small wire brush. To do so, put a bucket under the drainpipe and also have a rag ready. Plastic pipes may usually be unscrewed by hand, metal pipes with a pipe wrench. The dismantling of the siphon and the subsequent assembly should be left to technically gifted men and women in the household or even professionals, because unprofessional handling can lead to water damage in the worst case. Suggestion: Do not forget your gloves and garnish nicely!
