While she waited for his answer, she glanced at the sky again and enjoyed the feel of his thumb brushing against her hand. It felt oddly intimate to her, even though she was sure Henry felt nothing of the sort. Gabriella supposed she looked at things at differently than others. When Henry turned to look at her, she did too, their breaths mingling. Gabriella felt her heart stop in her chest for a moment as she looked into his warm brown eyes, eyes that made her feel all gooey inside. How was it possible for him to make her feel this way? It was a bit scary, but Gaby liked the thrill. For now, at least.
"I like the city, too," she agreed quietly. She didn't know what him not going to school right away would mean for them, but they weren't really a "them" at all, really. This was just a first date. Gabriella knew she shouldn't get carried away. "Taking a year off would be fun, though. You know, traveling and stuff. Be pretty cool." Her lips curved into a smile and she looked away, suddenly feeling a weird feeling in her chest. Being with Henry made her happy, always had. And right now was no exception. She felt her cheeks burn at his compliment, but she smiled to herself nonetheless. "I like being here with you, too," Gabriella murmured.
Once again, she turned to face Henry and couldn't help but let her lips form a goofy smile. "Me? I want to go to school, definitely. Get married, have kids." She hid her face for a moment, feeling embarrassed. "I like kids. I was thinking about being a teacher or something. Like, first grade. That would be so cute, you know?" Gabriella let her gaze meet his and she smiled gently. Her fingers played with his for a moment, as silence enveloped them. "I don't want a lot, Henry. I just want...to be happy, you know? And not...I don't know. Not unhappy." At that, she laughed, her head tipping back slightly. She knew that sounded weird, but she couldn't find any other ways to say how she felt. But Henry would understand. Sometimes she thought he got her when no one else did. Henry was someone she could say anything to and he'd still want to be around her. After all, she'd slapped him in the face and here they were.
"You'd make a really dad, you know," she teased as she poked his side. "I'm definitely not joking about that." Sometimes Gabriella thought that Henry didn't actually see how great he was or what he could accomplish. So it was her job to tell him so. She just wanted him to know that he was amazing.
Starlight || Henriella
“I don’t know where it is, it won’t tell me.” He joked. He squinted at the almost black-blue sky, trying to identify the constellations. When Henry was little, he and his brothers used to go on walks to the lake and on the way back his oldest brother, Brent, would point out all the constellations, telling the stories behind them that he learned in school. When Henry spotted Orion the Hunter, he looked straight at the star that would have been Orion’s right armpit. It was red, unlike the rest. “Beetlejuice.” he mumbled, and listened to Gabriella’s deep breath. He rubbed the pad of his thumb up and down her soft hand, and looked at her when she said his name.
Henry was a closeted person. Since half of the time he was at school and basketball practice where you weren’t supposed to talk, just do, and the other half of the time he was at home where no one was around long enough to listen, the boy wasn’t used to sharing feelings or thoughts or ideas. Plus, he didn’t want to bother people. Who wanted to listen to a teenage boy babble on about things he didn’t really know anything about, anyway? But the ease that Henry felt while being with Gabriella was odd. The pressure of impressing each other was just nonexistent. She was unlike all the other girls. Unlike the other girls that he’d gone with (which wasn’t many, by the way) Gabriella was actually willing to learn about him, and willing to listen to his ideas. Henry had a good mind and he knew Gabriella did too, and that’s why he always liked talking about the world with her.
“I’m always thinking about the future. The teachers at school are kind of forcing us to, aren’t they?” He sighed and smiled, just remembering they were on a date. Every now and again it’d run across his mind and his chest would tighten just a little more. He knew first dates were usually a lot different than this- a dinner and a movie, and if you say she’s pretty, you get a kiss at the end. This wasn’t an average first date but Gabriella wasn’t the average girl. He liked the direction this was going. “I know I’m not going to college right away. I’m taking a year off.” He said, mentally kicking himself in the head because he knew the real reason he was doing that was because he procrastinating in looking at all the colleges, and now would be too late. “But maybe I’ll go somewhere far away for college. Still in a city though, I like the city.” Henry lifted their hand and the top of their arms off the ground up, giving her hand a light squeeze. Laying down, they could both see it from the corner of their eyes and Henry waved it side-to-side. “I like being here with you a lot more, though.” He said, turning his head fully to the side so he could see her eyes. It was a little cheesy, but it worked. Suddenly, Henry propped up on one elbow so he could see her better. He cocked his head to the side. “What about you, huh? What do you want to do?”

Ouch, that is really wounding. But I'll take the hit. I call it like I see it, Kelly.
You’re evil, did you know that? First you tease me and now you’re calling me adorable. Practically Satan himself.

I don't know. I'll just say you're really adorable. Like puppy adorable and be done.
Any more attempts at making me uncomfortable?

Your baby with Addie, duh!
Oh right! I haven't talked to her about it yet, but I think boy or girl, its name should be Brallalaa. It's nice.

Patrick teased me forever. I did want everyone to stop, though.
He does indeed.
Good for you, Gaby. I was expecting you and G to be there trying to get everyone to stop.

Well, I'm trying to laugh about it, see?
I'm pretty sure they were up my shirt.
I think that makes you more uncomfortable than me. Remember that time I almost had my hands up your shirt?
