Kaz Brekker: Ultimate Theatre Kid

The thing about Kaz which watching the live action made me realise is he's a nerd about The Arts. He steals a De Kappel painting for his office, presumably because he likes it aesthetically as well as for the challenge. He recognised Tolya's poem and did a little dramatic stop to indicate this. He managed to convincingly pretend to be an artist when they needed to get the plans to the Little Palace. He was fascinated by magic tricks even as a kid and obsessed with figuring out how they worked. He creates 'Dirtyhands' a kind of exaggerated version of all his worst traits as a persona to intimidate people. This persona even has a fake origin/backstory attached to him. Which is to say I think if Ketterdam hadn't cast Trauma Upon Ye on Kaz as a kid and he'd gone to university I actually think he'd probably have aged into the most Obnoxious Theatre Major there ever was.

so you’re telling me wylan arrived in ketterdam, fresh out of his dad’s murder attempt, met a gunslinger with the most perfect lips he’d ever seen, had sex with him, left him in bed, then made a bunch of bombs for a criminal mastermind to go fight a demon.

if wylan isn’t your favourite character, you’re doing it wrong.
