the thing thats so byler proof to me about this shot is not only that byler is positioned in the same way as the couples, but specifically that there *only* couples (and eleven alone) in the shot besides. the duffers wrote the show, they could have put any characters in this scene — Dustin and Lucas could have been one of the pairs, steve and robin even. (and yes, this would cause plot alterations, but they wrote the plot). it could have been whoever, just one other non-couple pair, which wouldn’t have made the mike/Will positioning suspect. But they *chose* to ONLY have the pairs be couples, except Mike and will. and that is what makes the choice odd enough from a non byler reading that byler is kind of the Occam’s razor of this shot
