“The way they handled the break up was bad writing!”
My brother in Christ… this is 911. We don’t watch it because of the stellar writing and thorough timeline. We watch it for the vibes, the angst, and the found family.
I mean, fuck, Eddie broke up with Ana by randomly saying “go home”. The last words he said to Shannon before she died were “don’t talk”. WE JUST HAD A DOPPELGÄNGER PLOT LINE. Like be so ffr rn. This show has always been a mess when it comes to writing and I love it for that. It’s so deeply unserious and has been since the jump.

it's just. it's always Eddie Knows vs Buck Feels. Buck feels every feeling but doesn't know what he's feeling. Eddie knows what he's thinking but didn't let himself do it freely. they've been this since day 1. absolutely insane.

Buck's first serious relationship with a woman ended because Abby didn't want something serious with him and "forgot" to tell him.
Buck's first serious relationship with a man ended because Tommy didn't want something serious with him and "forgot" to tell him.
Abby and Tommy were engaged.
Eddie Diaz where are you. You need to save this man, it's getting ridiculous.
#eddie’s marriage ended bc she wanted more serious than he was capable of#same with his relationship with ana

Veeeeerrrrrryyyy interesting to have that "I'm straight" / "I'm celibate" exchange shortly after Josh schooled Buck on the pre-Glee/post-Glee worlds and how scary and difficult life is for people from the pre-Glee era. Eddie is older than Buck. He was in the army. He was married to a woman. A loooootttt of similarities between him and Tommy. Just..interesting...................

9-1-1 often strays away from realism but by far the least realistic aspect of that universe is that tommy kinnard knows and uses the word “himbo”
#seeing that was like the equivalent of hearing your middle aged father use internet slang#be so fr#buddie#911 abc

i love the “I’m the himbo” line bc buck looks just so filled with acceptance lmao he’s not even defeated by it. doesn’t even say it regrettably. he just shrugs, smiles kindly and admits that yeah, he was, is, and forever will be a damn good looking bitch boy that is often mistaken for a stupid one. all in true buck firehose buckley fashion ofc

i know this is old news by now but the part of the will scene that fucks me up the most is that buck says, you said you did this last year. why are you just telling me this now. meaning, why didn't you tell me when you changed your will? and eddie responds, because, evan. you came in here the other day and you said you thought it would have been better if it had been you who had been shot. meaning, this is why i decided to tell you now. buck asks the question why didn't you tell me before and eddie responds to the question why am i telling you at all. he explains why he changed his mind, not why he hid it from buck in the first place. eddie. eddie. why didn't you tell buck that you changed your will. how are you baring your soul to buck and you're still having two different conversations.

Buck CLINGS to people. He got scared Taylor would leave, he asked her to move in. Hee got scared Tommy would leave (like how Tommy left Abby, like how Abby left him), he asked him to move in.
At the well, Buck tried to bury himself with Eddie too. After the shooting, he despised himself for surviving without Eddie.
But after the well Eddie SAW how tightly Buck holds onto people and saw how he would probably rather die than be left behind.
AND HE PUT BUCK IN HIS FUCKING WILL AND HE ESSENTIALLY LEGALLY GRABBED HIM BY THE SHOULDERS AND SAID "YOU MATTER TO ME AND YOU ARE STAYING NO MATTER WHAT BECAUSE YOU CAN STAY BEYOND ME".
And when Buck was let go again (in 8x06), he KNEW he to find Eddie and that there was a space where he could settle and be held without asking.
No explanations because Eddie has told Buck he can hold his hand gently and that he can trust that Eddie isn't letting go, he is meeting Buck where he's at always.
The tenderness in knowing that the door will be answered and having no expectations of the person on the other side other than to meet them exactly where they are at, becsuse they are fully and completely enough as they are.

I gotta be honest, Eddie gluing his eyes to a catalogue of scantily clad women rather than risk a glance at his bestie's naked chest is not giving the Unquestionably Heterosexual vibes he thinks it is.

have spent this ENTIRE season so far wondering WHY they didn't have eddie go back to therapy, but after that clip i have fully realized WHY. or at least part of why:
eddie diaz is punishing himself.
he KNOWS therapy would help, he's seen firsthand that it does, but he does not think he deserves that help this time. he does not think he deserves someone to empathize with him and to encourage him to be gentle with himself and to unpack what really happened and how it wasn't eddies fault and how he wasn't completely entirely in the wrong like he is so adamant about believing about himself. eddie is SO determined to make himself hurt even HALF the amount chris felt in the aftermath.
so instead of taking the logical route and getting back into therapy, he goes — months after the fact too — to church. to confession. to a place he has not believed in in YEARS, DECADES EVEN.
its S O O O. eddie diaz PLEASE.

i love love love my deranged best friend buck buckley!!!!!! he has big giant muscles and a gymbro phenotype but he hates and is bad at sports. he tells the guy he’s dating that he’s doing keto :( but then immediately turns around and makes 14 trays of lasagna to be consumed by his husband and child in an elimination-style tournament. he has a quadruple digit body count but all he ever really wants is to be loved and held and listened to. he has never heard of rambo or tlc but could identify a rhinoceros beetle from a hundred feet away and then tell you sixteen different facts about it including its scientific name and the date of its classification. he struggles with authority but will literally kill himself and then you (in that order) if you try to deviate from his plan when he’s the one in charge. he tried to become a navy seal because he wanted to be a badass but then self-selected out because he realized his heart was too big and squishy to do the job. just :( and also :)
