Here is another clip of us practicing our dance. The speaker is great to teach dance classes or even to bring to a friends house for a gathering and play music !

Testing out the speakers!
My friend and I from MacDance practiced choreography for a Mamma Mia inspired dance. We did so in a hallway where there was traffic to emphasize that the speaker was loud enough to combat background noise!

Putting the platform and Soda Can together con’t
Now that the soda can was all ready to go. We took a piece of cardboard that would include the soda can and be long enough to include a phone sideways as well. Taking that piece of cardboard, we glue gunned the soda can on to it as well as a placeholder that would hold up the phone from the bottom. Insert pictures and videos

Putting the platform and Soda Can together
After pulling out the pen, we tested if the glue gun would work. We hoped and prayed, not really but the glue gun was working nevertheless and this was a relief seeing as this was needed to put the parts together. Now that the Soda can and bottle caps had holes in them. Next, we took the bottle caps and attached them to the soda can in their respective holes. Next, we glue gunned the cardboard into the Soda can which Laura had made an incision for earlier, this would hold the phone.

Entry 13: The glue gun dilemma
Everything was going well with the project until we realized that the glue gun Muhammad had brought was not working. This glue gun was a vital part of constructing the project and without it the next best thing that could be used was a tape. The tape would be troublesome and cause problems to the speakers. After checking the glue gun out there was clearly something stuck inside where the glue sticks are inserted. At first, we believed that there was a smaller glue stick and tried pushing it through and forcing glue to come out. While Laura and Muhammad tried to fix the broken glue gun, Yostina messaged the Librarian at McMaster. Insert picture of convo. The librarian was directing us to makerspace but we had other plans in mind and were determined to fix this glue gun or break it. And that is exactly what we did. In order to fix certain things, you must break them first. We took scissors and began breaking off the piece that protects where the glue sticks are inserted. And this did take some time as we were trying to be careful and little pieces of the glue gun were flying everywhere. Ultimately when we finished removing the piece. We were able to finally reveal what was stuck inside this glue gun. It was a pen. Yes, it was a pen. There was a pen being melted out of a glue gun used as glue. Muhammad has no idea how it got inside of there. As seen in the videos we pulled the pen out of the glue gun. Yet there was still the possibility that this glue gun had suffered too much and would not work.

Entry 12: Muhammad Finally arrives
When Muhammad finally shows up he brings an Exacto knife, glue gun and thicker cardboard. The soda can already have two holes in it and the bottle caps needed holes in them as well. So Muhammad made some cuts in the bottle caps. Whilst this was going on, Laura used the Exacto knife to make another incision on the soda can which would be used to attach the phone too with cardboard. She then took the thicker cardboard and started building the platform and extension which the phone would sit on.

The meeting & building the DIY cell phone speaker
We started off by gathering our materials. As seen below. We started with a sketch based on the youtube video we used as a guide.
We drew out the cardboard that would wrap around the bottom of the iPhone and cut that out.
We then traced the bottle caps on the can to cut out the speaker spots where it will project sound.
Materials needed:
1. Empty can
2. Two bottle caps
3. Scissors & exacto knife (not pictured here)
4. Glue gun (not pictured here) and backup tape
5. Cardboard (we ended up using thicker card board on ce Muhammad arrived)

Planning when to meet
Once we had established what materials were necessary to build the DIY cell phone speaker. We split up which materials to bring as seen in the screenshots. Laura brought the cardboard, tape and scissors. Yostina brought the bottle caps and cans. Muhammad brought the Exacto knife and glue gun. The glue gun story will be told, later on, it's quite interesting, to say the least.
First, we had to compare schedules to ensure we could find a good time to meet.

The Pieces of the Masterpiece
To put together our DIY cell phone speaker we needed:
1. A soda can
2. Cardboard
3. Hot glue gun
4. Hot glue gun sticks
5. Exacto knife
6. Bottle caps
While putting together our list we noticed that all items required are things that we already had on hand. This meant that our budget for this came to a total of exactly zero dollars! Furthermore, we realized that the core items necessary were all items that are recyclable. This meant that this project is not only simple but also sustainable!
