i am the worst right now at staying on top of basically anything. i mean, it's mid december & here i am posting halloween pictures. to be honest, i was scrolling through my photo library as i do almost daily & it dawned on me that ive been failing miserably at documenting the girls in one given place. so, here i am-- documenting halloween almost two months late. I never want to forget their imagination, their sass, & the joy in celebrating holidays with these girls of mine. Mary Poppins + Bert // 3 year, 11 months & 17 months mary poppins is a crowd favorite here at our house, but perry is definitely the biggest fan. she adores julie andrews in any role she plays. for months she ask to be mary poppins & installer that maclain be bert. let's just say, it's nothing short of amazing that jon & i didn't end up as a pig & penguin. i can't wait to see what they come up with next year!

This really struck a cord with me. "Our children need more of us. We have become so good at saying that we need to take care of ourselves that some of us have used it as an excuse to have the rest of the world take care of our kids."

Sister Snapshot
Life with my two little ladies is never dull...whether they're giggling themselves silly or screaming their heads off because one stole a book or babydoll, it's a zoo around here every.single.day. That being said, I wouldn't have it any other way and I thought it was high-time for an update!
Perry // 3 years, 10 months --
My big girl is growing like a weed in every way! She is my little sidekick-- always helping and taking such good care of Maclain. She is certainly not short on personality! Perry is sweet and caring, articulate and independent. She is wonderful at helping when you give her tasks and finds great joy in being the leader. Perry is constantly singing and dancing, twirling and putting on performances. She insists on wearing a dress or skirt every day and her favorite colors is pink. Her favorite food is pizza (she calls the dress pictured her “pepperoni twirly dress”) and she loves watching Disney movies. Lately though, her favorite movies are Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music. She is obsessed with art, her pink baby and still takes her pink dog with her everywhere. While she certainly still has her sassy moments, she is just so kind hearted and fun, she has the best sense of humor and I love the friendship that has grown between us as she grows up.
She loves school so very much which came as no surprise. This year she’s attending three days a week and we are so thankful that her old friends are in her class again this year. It has been extra special to see their friendship grow over the years. Perry just loves to learn and do new things and I hope that never stops!
Maclain//17 months --
She’s definitely not a baby anymore, but I can’t help but want her to be. She is a little ball of energy, running everywhere Perry goes and babbling up a storm. She’s the definition of play hard, sleep hard. She shrieks at the top of her lungs and goes absolutely nuts when she sees anyone she loves (Perry, Uncle Rob, Aunt D, or her cousins... mom and dad too!) which is super cute, but we also seem to be in the scream for everything stage since she is only saying a few words. She has the greatest facial expressions and there is simply no hiding what she thinks-- I fear what her expressions will be like as a teenager. She is tough and brave and much more rough and tumble than Perry ever was. This little one-- she’s SO sweet and snuggly, yet fiery and opinionated. It’s very clear that she has a mind of her own. She waves hi and bye at everyone while mumbling the words as best as she can. Maclain’s smile absolutely kills me and can brighten any moment. Her favorite things are purses, baby dolls (specifically dirty baby), “reading” books, and playing anything Perry is playing. She eats almost everything, but certainly prefers carbs (don’t we all!) and smoothies to any sort of veggie.
Having one on one time with Maclain during school has been such a gift. Seeing her personality explode is just the greatest and I can’t wait to finally be able to hear her say all of her thoughts. I love watching her grow and seeing her light up as she discovers new things she can do!
These girls, they are my whole world. Time is passing at light speed and I am just trying not to miss anything.

loving. These Nikes. Seriously, I wear them too much. And these booties. needing. To prioritize. wanting. More time in a day (after 8pm that is). There’s SO much I want to do and accomplish and I can’t get it done. Also, wanting to have clarity from God. writing. nada. zero, zilch. reading. The Girl with The Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer. It’s hilarious. Next up is Present over Perfect and Grace Not Perfection when it releases. watching. Oh fall TV, I love you. This is Us – you guys WATCH THIS! Also Chicago PD, Grey’s Anatomy, ya know… anything that I was watching that stopped in summer. I wish my faves were year-around. Oh, and Poverty, Inc. Watch that too. listening. Meghan Trainor on repeat, and of course the Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey podcast. Do you guys listen to it? You should! wishing. For adventure with my crew. feeling. Nervous. Mainly about CG games. My team is ranked #10 IN THE NATION(!!!) and we have finals on November 12. I’m nervous– nervous about extra training, nervous about letting my team down, nervous about the fact that my mom bod will be competing against D1 athletes (yes, I stalked the top teams to find out more). craving. Desserts, always but trying not to indulge every day. eating. Less carbs. Or at least trying to. I’m feeling five pounds heavier than I want to, so protein and trying to hit my marcos. drinking. water, lots of water… with generous helpings of wine and skinny vanilla lattes. working on. Cleaning out closets and toy boxes. Mainly I’m just begging fall to come and hoping that by sifting through worn out summer clothes and hanging up our fall clothes, it will come! Also working on a small little holiday collection of leather clips for the littles. contemplating. BIG things for our family- Big decisions. Big possibilities. Big fears. "Being an introvert doesn't mean you're shy. It means you enjoy being alone. Not just enjoy- you need it... So if you're an introvert like me, especially a female introvert, or a person who is expected to give away your energy to everyone else on the reg, I want to encourage you to find time to be alone." // This. I don't just enjoy alone time, I need it. I didn't realize I was an introvert until adulthood, and having alone time to recharge is necessary now more than ever before.
