MERCY
Mercy is an odd word, the first thing comes to my mind when I hear this was the game I used to play in elementary school where you bend and snap other peoples hands until they say mercy.
The opposite of mercy is empathy, Mercy is showing some one pity out of hatred or because you believe you Are better than them. Showing someone pity or sympathy through love and a understanding of situation is empathy.
The meaning of Mercy is to show/ask for pity, you understand you have lost or given up. For example if I were to use it in a sentence it would be like “I pray that Professor McBride gives has mercy on me when giving us our final grades.”
To end our little blog series here, when we had started this blog I had hoped it would have Mercy on me. Thinking it would be a torturous pain in my rear to write this every week but in the end it became one of my favorite things to do every week (especially if we are talking about school related things it’s my number 1) so for that I thank you for giving me one of my favorite and most entertaining homework assignment I’ve ever had.

IDENTITY
Identity, someone’s identity is more than just the facts about you that are on your ID card. Rarely ever can someone else know someone’s full identity. Someone can be a completely open book but still won’t reveal absolutely everything about their identity, hell a lot of times even the person themselves won’t know their full identity, some people may figure it out along the way in life and some may never truly figure their identity out.
The characteristics of an identity includes everything about a person, hopes, dreams, desires. Anything else that we have talked about in the little blog series, it all makes up an individual, which at the end of the day is their Identity. An I identity is hard to craft which is why in middle school people dye their hair and become “emo” is because we don’t have our own identity yet. That’s why grown men in their late thirties will have a “mid-life crisis” and go out and purchase a motorcycle or try to join a band or any other weird things like that. It’s because they don’t know their identity yet.
Human beings have an insatiable desire to belong. This is why we seek validation from others and will often go along with the “pack mentality”. No one ever likes being the odd one out in a situation so often times while searching for our identity we end up dropping our selves into whatever stereotype we like: Emo, drama kid, biker dad, soccer mom, Jock, ect. We do this because it’s a lot easier then actually figuring out within ourselves what our true identity is. But for example those titles given above are often put along with another phrase, “it’s just a phase” and that’s because nine times out of ten that’s what it will be, because you can’t fake your whole life so at some point your true identity will come out more and you’ll discover that that is not who you are and go on to figure out who you are.
The first thing that came to mind when I heard identity who just like a photograph ID card you have.

PRIDE
Pride is the feeling you have when you truly care about what you are doing. It is very important that every time you do something you do it with pride so you actually are about it. I find that as a very important thing to do even if it’s something that seems easy and simple you should still have pride when you do it.
Pride is also often used with the LGBTQ+ community as being proud of yourself and who you are. It’s very good that this has become such a popular thing because it’s important I have pride in yourself and know that you are best “you” that you can be.
The opposite of pride is not caring, that can be not caring about what you are doing or not care about yourself and either way it’s a very hurtful way to live life. Living like this can harm people around you and can hurt yourself as well.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Pride is when I used to do taekwondo and my dad really pushed the idea of me having to have pride in myself and try my best. This has been something that’s really effected me in life and I now attempt to approach everything I do in life with this such as at school or at my job.

TRUTH
The Truth is a simple thing in definition, it’s telling the honest thing that happened in any certain situation. But it’s truly never this black and white as everybody has their own filters and lenses that they see the world through so what might be truth to someone may be a lie to someone else.
The opposite of truth is telling a lie. But a lur be told to someone else but I feel more often than not it’s a lie that you tell yourself. Our brain is so powerful that if we try hard enough we can convince ourselves of anything. So much so that it would blur the lines in your mind of what is reality and a lie.
Characteristics of the truth a simple, whatever honestly happened with out any bias or filter on. That’s why it is so hard for someone to be completely honest at all times since we all walk around with filters and bias’s even if we don’t want to.
And the first thing that comes to my head is the thing they say in court “do you swear to say the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth”

INSPIRATION
Inspiration is what keeps you going when it seems like nothing else can. Inspiration can come from anything it could be an adult in your life, a close friend, or even just a random sign on the street. As an artist Inspiration is one of the most important things you can have because without inspiration you have nothing pushing you to continue.
I don’t know if there is really an opposite of inspiration if anything it’s simply someone putting another person down. It’s when someone is talking about an idea calling it stupid and dumb. Essentially the opposite of being inspired is being a bully.
There are no true characteristics of inspiration since it can literallycome from anywhere at anytime.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of inspiration is the countless times I have wanted to write my own cartoon, movie, musical, play etc.

HONOR
Honor is something that can be given to you from another person, but possibly more importantly it’s something you feel within yourself. It can be given to you through a reward of some sort or someone complimenting what you’ve done or giving you respect for it. It can be felt within you by knowing that have done the right thing and feel proud yourself for what you’ve done.
The opposite of honor is disappointment. When someone feels disappointed in you it’s probably the closest you can get to having an exactly opposite feeling to being honored. Similarly with what you feel inside of you being disappointed with yourself on whatever you’ve done.
Some of the characteristics to being honored is having a feeling of pride and joy in yourself. And the first thing I thought of was a soldier receiving one of those medals that they give them for doing something great.

POWER
Power is the strongest drug of all time.
Some people are meant to have power and can have a fair use of their power but some people once they get a whiff of it they abuse it. Power can be many things, it can be a strength based thing of simply being stronger than others. It could be a mental thing where you are very charismatic or have a higher status and have power of people like that.
The Opposite of power is being under the person with power, so if there is a king there must always be his subjects. Some people seem to be content with just being the ones under the ones with power, some people seem to even be afraid of having power.
The Characteristics of power is having control over others. That could be anything from being a Manager at a job to being the president it all comes with different degrees of power. You have to be careful not to abuse the power you have since it’s very easy to do that.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Power is the Kanye West song “Power” which speaks about how “No one man deserves all this power” off of his 2010 “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” album

REJECTION
Rejection is a hard one, it’s crazy how much power one word has over the world “No”. That word can sends millions Cowering away in fear, whether that be from the girl/boy they like, the school they wanted to get into, or something that they asked their parents to do. Rejection is a hard pill to swallow and it always will be, you just have to learn how to carry on living after that.
Rejection is something that is incredibly prevalent in the field of work that I plan to go into, acting, it’s the biggest hurdle for most people to get over when doing this. It’s hard to be able to understand that you won’t always get the role that you want or even get in all. This was incredibly true for me when in my senior year I auditioned for 4 Acting Conservatories And was only accepted into one, Now even though it was an amazing school it still was hard knowing that so many schools didn’t want me.
I later came to grips with it and decided to just look on the bright side that at least I got into one of my favorite schools. BUT THEN life decides to hit me with a double whammy with my parents then having to sit me down and tell me that we can’t afford to have me go to the school... WOW OKAY. So at this point life is just pounding me in the gut with this rejection from everywhere it was so hard.
But as hard as it was at the end of the day I had to brush off my pants and get back to work. So now I’m lucky enough that I did go to a pretty good school in EFSC and we have a pretty good and fun theater department here for me to continue my journey. So in the end everything worked out.
Something a little bit different today, felt like I would go with a little anecdote format. It felt really nice to write this out for once.

LOVE
Love, Love is an odd thing since everyone shows it in a different way. Some people will be hopeless romantics and do every event possible to showcase their love to some one. Other people will take their time with it picking just the small moments to show their love. Some people will show love up until they actually love someone and then pull it away and show none of it then. It’s odd and those are just skimming the surface of weird ways people show love, unfortunately some people hurt the people they love either physically or mentally which is very bad.
The opposite of love is hatred, it’s disliking someone to a similar intensity to love. If there was a spectrum of feeling towards someone, love and Hatred would be on opposite sides of the spectrum at equal points.
When I first think of love I think of all members of my family. Since I know no matter what I’ll always have them.

LONELINESS
Being Lonely is probably one of the biggest killers in the world, more than car accidents, more than plague, more than many other things. But it’s not necessarily a killer of humans as in taking their life away (though it could be) it is killing their dreams, hopes, passions. People will often abandon those things due to their fear or being lonely or alone. Or they will fall to pressure to conform to others in order to be apart of a “group” so they do not feel lonely.
The opposite of loneliness is being involved being apart of a community or apart of a relationship. It can be quite an amazing thing when you are but that is as long as you do it in a healthy way. It can be easy to became attached to someone who hurts you due to the fear of being alone.
One very important thing I have found in life is to not be afraid of loneliness. As soon as you let that fear of being alone consume you then you open yourself up to getting hurt much harder. It’s important to know that you can have just as much fun alone as you can with other people. And to not be afraid of that, that is definitely something I struggle with my day to day life but I am starting to get over it.
And the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of loneliness is actually a kinda Alternative Rap song by an artist named Hobo Johnson named peach scone. Where the hook on the song says, “I love the thought of being with you, Or maybe it’s the thought of not being so alone
The second one’s way sadder than the first one
But I don’t know
I love the thought of being with you, woah, woah, woah
Or maybe it’s the thought of not being so alone
Shit, I love being-- I love being loved, but
Don't like crying on the phone”

HOPE
Hope is the spark you always have at the end of the tunnel. Hope will give you that last little push at the end of the race. Hope is what you have when it feels as if you have nothing else.
The opposite of hope is giving up, when you give up you lose everything. You give in to whatever inner or outer demons you may have. You let them win as opposed to pushing through them.
Hope carry’s you the rest of the way, it will give you comfort when you feel you are the only one in a deep whole of discomfort.
And when I think of hope I actually think of my close friend named Hope from back home. She’s really cool 😎.

JUSTICE
JUSTICE, is treating someone with respect and dignity no matter who they are. You will treat them with what you believe to be the morally correct way of treating another person. So it’s also used as a rallying cry when a group is being unfairly treated.
The opposite of Justice is treating someone with disrespect for no fair reason. Such examples include but are not limited too, Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Transphobia.
The main Characteristics of Justice is treating someone morally. That may be different for some people but it should all be basically on the same wave length.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Justice is the Blind lady with bandages over her eyes. (that as I looked up this gif I believe is actually named lady Justice)

BEAUTY
Beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, technically everything is beautiful it sometimes just takes finding the right person to find something attractive though.
I can’t think of anything that is the opposite of beauty, because even I were to say “ugly” or something like that. Something that someone deems “ugly” is probably beautiful to someone else.
It’s characteristics is the feeling that it gives to another person when they see someone or talk to someone. It could also even be in the individual itself when they see that part of themselves.
I think of my girlfriend

RESPECT
Respect is essentially the golden rule, it is treating everything and anyone the way that you want to be treated. But there are certain people in the world who should be treated with slightly more respect, it should be a goal of people to then achieve these peoples stature in life then, these people include; Elerdly, Military, teachers, Professionals of their respective field, etc.
The opposite of respect is just being rude when you are rude and nasty to anyone, you lack respect for them. Or if you break an object of yours or someone else’s you thus lack respect for that object.
The main characteristics of respect is simple, it’s just the way morally an individual feels they should treat others around them.
In my head when I think of respect I think of when I was in taekwondo and everyday when entering the dojo we would have to bow and say a powerful word of wisdom and when I first joined the word was “respect”

FEAR
Fear. Fear is something that has very strong negative connotation, associated with monsters under the bed and having a fear of the dark, or having stage fright and being held back from doing something.
But I feel that fear can also be a good thing, us as human beings when we have fear we are more rational, people don’t jump off of bridges because we have a fear of what will happen to us when we land. We don’t go out and beat up random people because we fear the consequences of it. We don’t talk back to our mother as a kid because we fear what will come out of it.
The opposite of fear is Calm, when you are calm you have no fear. You are at ease with what you are doing and know that nothing will go wrong.
Fears charaistics are when your mind starts talking to you about the possibilities of what could happen. As a kid, what could happen if the monster under your bed comes and gets you or as an adult, if I’m late to my job how mad my manager will be and if I’ll lose my job.
When I think of fear Initially I see a big scary monster out of a movie.
But if I think about it a little bit more I see a very analytical little kid thinking about every possible thing that could go wrong
